  1. I prefer coke but don't mind the free Pepsi at Holiday World..... And Pepsi taste better mixed with rum (or vodka, or cheap bourbon, or whatever)
  2. Glad to see this thing is finally getting the original themeing added, looks like a great coasters. The year round haunt sounds cool, I've always wondered why more parks don't have year round haunts with live actors because it always seemed like a great idea to me. Maybe this one will have a lot of success and maybe the success of the ones a Thorpe Park and Morey's Pier will give other parks in the world the same idea.
  3. Has anyone mentioned the potential use of the Kong 360 technology for the Hogwarts Express park hopper train? I've not been on the new Kong at USH and have no idea how that part of the tram tour works logistically but the concept seems perfect for the experience they're (rumored to be) trying to create in Orlando. Creating a highly themed immersive 3-D environment around an existing transportation vehicle? Sounds like a realistic idea for creating the journey from London to Hogwats to me.
  4. Someone remind me to get in on this next year, this is an awesome idea, so much fun reading this thread.
  5. ^That's exactly right, and for the most part those seasonal event that I love are during non-tourist times for the most part which is usually the best (darn near the only) times to visit some of the parks. I guess working in the parks part of the time I lived in Orlando kind of burned me out a little bit too, after working a 40-60 hour week the last place you want to be on a day off is back in a park. But your right, for a local (who doesn't work in the parks) a good balance is definitely the key to not losing the magic.
  6. ^I agree, I lived in Orlando for a few years and didn't go to the parks nearly as often as I thought I would even with passes. The only thing that I really miss is new attraction openings and the seasonal events like HHN, Mickey's not So Scary, Seaworld's Christmas, and food and wine festival. While I was working at Disney my wife had an EPCOT after 4pm pass that was perfect, if i still lived there I could probably get by with just that pass for a few years until Avatar and some of the other major expansions are open.
  7. Awesome! This should be a lot of fun for those who are fortunate enough to get in on those nights, the comedy warehouse was always a favorite of mine. First The Adventurers Club cast reunites for an evening, now the Comedy Warehouse cast is doing a couple of shows..... maybe Disney is secretly planning resurrecting Pleasure Island at Hollywood Studios? Might actually give me a reason to go back.
  8. It's a shame that this thing may never open, it always seemed like one of the most unique concepts around. Maybe they'll figure it out, it's a pretty expensive lawn ornament.
  9. Pilgrims Plunge did always feel a bit "unfinished" to me, and this project shows that the model has more potential. Now I'm curious as to what the boats/cars will look like.
  10. With the Big Fun model reportedly costing just at 3 million dollars as a complete turn key project, I doubt anyone could relocate the Dania Beach Hurricane for that much.
  11. I see this coaster being more along the lines of a GCI version of Wooden Warrior, which considering the reviews is a very good thing. I know that concept art picture from the news is just that, concept art, but that layout looks nothing like the Big Fun version. As long as GCI is a part of this project I'm sure it will be a huge success.
  12. ^YES!! The Holiday version of Illuminations is always awesome! The new Years ever version is very similar but with even more fire power if I remember correctly, definitely check that out if you can! Great video Robb.
  13. That support on the first drop is kinda funky, it looks like the drop track just keep going straight down into the ground. Not the most aesthetic looking support but oh well, still kinda cool.
  14. This is more exciting than the Fantasyland expansion and Harry Potter 2.0 combined, bring on the mini Woodie!
  15. I still think X-Flight has a much better looking layout than Wild Eagle, should be a great addition to the park.
  16. I was never a HUGE cult like fan of the Adventurers Club but I did have a lot of fun there several times. It was a fairly unique night club experience if anything else, and a great change of pace from the typical dance club offerings that pleasure Island had, and the cast was very talented and really loved what they did. I really hope that Four Seasons resort makes it, and considering the location I got a feeling it will do okay. Last year I played golf at Osprey Ridge and REALLY liked the course. The workers there had told me that the course was in danger of closing down since it was the least profitable of the other Disney golf properties but when the Four Season finally got developed that Four Seasons was going to take over management of the facility. I don't know how accurate any of that is, but I hope the course survives because it really is a great layout that is one of my favorites in the area. This par 3 was particularly memorable, beautiful elevated tee box with a large but tough green, great hole.
  17. ^I'll be at the gator Bowl, even though the TPR last Day with Jaws event sounds like a lot more fun
  18. Really? Really? Save $15 on parking by eating a $35 breakfast at Chef Mickey's? Or for a family of four save $15 on parking by eating $110 breakfast (not including tax or gratuity)? Really? I think what you meant to say was park for free at any resort, grab a coffee, and then ride the monorail to the park.
  19. ^^ that is true, it would take the right park to be able to build it and be able to properly maintain it but I still think that having a coaster with the world record for speed at a reduced coast would be worth attempting to relocate. I hope this place makes it because it seems like such a great concept for a park but I'm not very optimistic.
  20. If this place does crash and burn and ends up closing down in 2 years Formula Rossa seems like it would be fairly easy to relocate from the standpoint that it is basically located on a flat piece of land. I'm sure there are plenty of parks around the world that could find the space for a ride like that if it were to hit the used ride market at some point.
  21. If there was a plus one this year I think Alabama would beat Oklahoma State and LSU would beat Stanford and we would still be seeing LSU/Alabam for the national title. I would also like to point out that the past 2 national title LSU has won have all come in games in the Louisiana Superdome in 2002, 2006, and now in 2012 they are once again playing for the title in the Superdome. I also believe that Les Miles has at in fact sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for unprecedented football success.
  22. Ah, okay 2006, yeah that is a much better example for a one loss team that deserved to play for the championship but I think that this year Alabama is far and away the most qualified of the 1 loss teams to play for the title. I mean, is there any doubt in anyone's mind out there that Alabama isn't the 2nd best team in the country this year right now? I dislike the BCS as much as everyone else and think that a playoff system of some sorts would be incredible to watch as a fan, but I still think that for the most part the best team has won the title every year for the past 10 years.
  23. Wasn't 2007 the year Michigan lost to App. State in week 1 and ended up going 8-4 in the regular season? Yeah....
  24. I'd love to see LSU/USC but USC isn't eligible this year... besides with 2 losses this season they probably wouldn't have been in contention for the title game anyways. USC is about to be really good again very soon I think, they still have better athletes than everyone in the Pac-12.
  25. Exactly, as crazy as it might seem to have two sections in two different parks on the same property themed to the same thing, it makes a ton of sense to the story line of the Books/movies and the needs of the resort. If Potter makes money it makes money no matter how you look at it, and as long as it makes money they're gonna milk it for all it's worth. Tell Disney that there is too much Pixar in their parks, Finding Nemo at 2 different parks, Toy Story at 2 different parks, and I assume they will keep the Little Mermaid stage show at the studios after the Little Mermaid Dark ride opens as well as the Beauty and the Beast stage show. The Pixar examples are not nearly as extreme of an example as Potter but the overall concept is essentially the same.
