  1. Yep, all RMC designed coasters come stock with steel wheels. (Goliath being the only current exception.)
  2. As it says in my signature: American Eagle at SFGAm. Walk on last train of the day last Wednesday.
  3. For all intents and purposes, it's a dive loop. RCDB lists the element on Full Throttle before the mid-course launch as a dive drop, but in all honesty it's just a morphed version of the snake dive on Storm Runner. I usually think of dive drops as those featured on wing coasters - the twist and the beginning of the drop start at the same heartline elevation.
  4. SFGAm with friends for Goliath followed by a day trip to Indiana Beach.
  5. This coaster looks insanely crazy and insanely great all around. Outlaw Run's first drop was very similar to Raging Bull's (the latter of which is my favorite first drop that I've experienced) in that you are just ripped out of your seat and float all the way down, so it'll be interesting to see how Goliath's compares. Most excited for that, the raven turn, and the airtime hill. It's also interesting how my first dive loop will be on a wooden coaster.
  6. I'm 45-60 minutes from SFGAm and slightly closer to some of the smaller parks with random kiddie creds. (Most of which I still need to scoop up.)
  7. Who else would love to see a 100 km/h junior boomerang with a vertical lift?
  8. Will it stay like this permanently? I'm not questioning whether it is safe or not, just that it doesn't look, well..... great, does it? Not likely. It'll probably stay like that for the season and RMC will come in the fall after FF to fix it.
  9. When clearance testing goes wrong... Not exactly RMC's finest hour here.
  10. hehehe yes! And best! Guess that depends on where you go. Great America has kept Whizzer (and it runs like new), Logger's Run, Yankee Clipper, etc. East River Crawler (formerly Lobster) re-opened last year after over a year in rehab (and just had it's 2nd "airtime" motor restored this year; it too is running like new!). I know the original SF parks ADORE their classic Schwarzkopfs (Mind Bender and Shock Wave). Magic Mountain is run a bit different, I know. Didn't the park president say Colossus was "off limits" in regards to removal a few years ago? I also remember something about the park wanting to RMC re-do the ride, but leave it's classic look alone. Even if the whole thing had topper track put on with new trains (and that double dip!), it could be a great ride. Then of course there is that POV that was posted then removed from youtube a few weeks ago showing "Iron Colossus." I didn't see it, but I know a few did! I think the park will eventually get to fixing Revolution as well. It could be a smart business move if done right. SFGAm seems to be an exception. If you look at SFMM in the last ten years, they removed Log Jammer, Metro, Freefall, Sierra Twist, Spin Out, and many other classic attractions while many other classic rides, such as Jet Stream and Revolution, don't seem to receive much care. I don't want to slam SFMM for doing this, I just want to point out that they aren't putting much of an effort into keeping classic rides. To be fair, though, SFMM's business model is different from the others in the chain: although they are not SF's official "flagship park," if you'll pardon the unintended pun, they put the most investment into new coasters because they know that their clientele want them. If the removal of classic attractions is what it takes, they'll do it.
  11. For now. Hopefully it too would see a RMC redo - it has the potential to be amazing. Eh...I really don't want to see Eagle touched with anything except maybe topper track on the last helix. I'm going to sound like I'm lobbying for some sort of anti-change movement, but I think that Eagle's occasional roughness is what makes the ride what it is. The "one side classic, one side I-box" rumours really have me thinking as to what kind of possibilities could be reached, though. Maybe they'll give Goliath an I-Box treatment in 30 years.
  12. I'd like to point out that both SFOT and SFFT marketed the closure of Texas Giant and Rattler, respectively, in a similar manner to what was done here: Conversely, rides like Rolling Thunder didn't even get a proper advertisement of their closure in-park, which leads me to believe that they'll be taking the I-Box route with this one.
  13. Granted, but the park loses all of the resulting lawsuits about seats being too small and closes within days. I wish that Goliath at SFGAm had more airtime hills.
  14. Never, unfortunately. When was the last time you rode a random kiddie credit?
  15. RMC ejector air. What's better than a smooth clone of the Coney Island Cyclone?
  16. Construction of the dive loop seems to have stagnated, I assume they'll pick it up again after the final track on the overbank is constructed. Something may have fallen on the track and damaged it, hence the removal and replacement of it, but I can't think of any other reason as to why they would do such a thing.
  17. I'm fully expecting the announcement of the inverted RMC AquaTrax tilt coaster to come on time. 'I'm very interested to see what this actually turns out being, and Robb is usually a pretty good judge of ride quality so if he's excited then I see no reason to not look forward to this.
  18. The closest thing I can compare the first turn to in terms of banking is Leviathan's first turnaround. It looks great, I can't wait to see the dive loop finished as well. Nice to see they can make so much construction progress in one day.
  19. The only part of the overbank remaining is to install the track, which shouldn't take very long at all. There's only a bit of the dive loop structure remaining and the lift hill and inverted stall should go up fairly quickly, so I don't forsee construction going very far beyond mid-April, which gives part of the month and most of May for testing and station and queue modifications.
  20. Iron Wolf was really hidden behind the trees so there never was really anything impressive around Yukon Territory aside from Batman around the edge, and even though the entrance is in County Fair the ride will still dominate the center of YT. I'm really excited just to see the visuals of this coaster, and riding it on top of that should be phenomenal.
