Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Northern Lights was a nice family ride that exceeded my expectations. Not an intense or thrilling ride by any means, but still fun. Even though it technically isn't a coaster, I think we can say it has fulfilled VF's need for a new family coaster. Route 76 as a whole helped give new life to what used to be a rather quiet section of the park. Scrambled and Tilter look much better with their new paint schemes, and bringing back Antique Autos was a smart move since it was a favorite among families. Overall, I really liked Route 76, though I will admit I am a bit more excited about the new waterpark slide tower. -

Hmm... on the waterpark section of the park website, both the speed slides and trapdoor slides are listed as a 4 out of 5 on the thrill rating scale. I find that confusing because these slides look a lot more thrilling than anything else in the waterpark. -

Steel Venom is technically an inverted coaster, but I don't think it cuts it in most enthusiasts' books since it is only a shuttle coaster and not a full-circuit one. Even though a B&M invert would be a great fit for Valleyfair, what worries me is that a lot of people say B&M inverts in recent years have been rather tame with the exception of Banshee, and I highly doubt VF will get a Banshee-sized invert. -

Well, I think Corkscrew is better than Demon because CS is a much smoother ride, and I like Renegade better than Viper and American Eagle, but besides those, Six Flags Great America is definitely the superior park in terms of rides. VF could use some better and/or more unique ride experiences to impress everyone. From my experience, it seems like a lot of the Minnesota general public don't think Valleyfair is a worthwhile destination (and I can see why), but if they continue to make good additions/improvements, that might change some people's minds. -

I wouldn't mind getting a Windseeker because it would provide some nice views, but like others have said, Cedar Fair is probably done with them because they don't want to invest a ride that will have large amounts of downtime. -

I don't think 2016 will necessarily be an off-year for Valleyfair. They could possibly add Larson Flying Scooters or maybe a fun flat ride from Zamperla (they have a good looking selection of flats) for next year alongslide general improvements. I just have my doubts that next year will bring a coaster because there are bigger rumors going around for other CF parks. -

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. With the current state the park is in now, I'm not completely sure it is ready for a new coaster just yet. Some facets of the park are rather outdated, and they need to have the place looking good to keep the crowds that a new coaster would bring coming back in the future. They could use a new/bigger entrance plaza, some revitalized areas (walkway to Route 76, back of park, etc.), a bigger parking lot (which could already be in the works from what we've seen), and maybe another sitdown restaurant among other things, but that's just my take on it. The park officials know what's really best for VF and will do what they see necessary. -

Valleyfair never would have gotten Fury 325 because with the park's current attendance rates, it would take too long for the park to get a return on investment. Also, I personally think that a new coaster is coming in 2017 or 2018 rather than 2016 because most of the rumors of a 2016 VF coaster have just been enthusiast optimism and nothing really legitimate. Plus, the park could use some more time to make more general improvements before making a big addition, though I could be wrong and 2016 might be our year. -

Your 5 year plan and predictions for any park

Shockwave at Kings Dominion is a Togo standup, not a B&M. Togo went out of business quite a while ago, and even if they were still around, I'm not sure if they'd be able to develop floorless trains. Since Canada's Wonderland removed SkyRider, I could see Kings Dominion scrapping Shockwave sometime in the next 5 years. -

That has been the background for the April Fools Day sale on each Cedar Fair park's website, so I don't think it means anything. -

Granted, but you will soon get robbed of all of it. I wish for Intamin to make more wooden coasters. -

^ Good point. Even though a Mad Mouse relocation would be the best way to make more waterpark room, I don't think they'd do that if they're doing extensive work on it. Now, it seems like the only way to expand the waterpark would be to remove Excalibur, though I'd personally rather see Excalibur replaced by a coaster. Also, sorry if I sound dumb, but what is a PLC? -
Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread

Why would Michigan's Adventure need a height restriction? It's in the middle of nowhere and it doesn't look like there are any tall structures nearby.
