  1. I found this footage on YouTube of some enthusiasts getting a brake-free ride on Wild Thing from 1999. It looks like it provided some strong ejector airtime. I would honestly pay extra to get a ride like this.
  2. ^ Corkscrew will have to go eventually because no coaster lives forever, but I can see them keeping it as long as possible, or at least until Valleyfair has another inverting coaster. (Anyone know the average life expectancy for old Arrow loopers?) Also, I don't think Wild Thing will get new trains because the current ones are running just fine. Yes, they are awkwardly large, but at least they're comfortable. I just think that money could be spent on better things.
  3. There are no legitimate rumors about Valleyfair getting an Air Race, it's just that a lot of us think it would a good fit for the park and a fun ride. Where did you hear that Cedar Fair was going to invest a lot in MiA and VF? As nice as it would be, I have a hard time believing that. I'm with you on that Excalibur should be the first coaster to go, but it might be staying for at least a few more years because Mr. Frazier doesn't want VF to lose any coasters right now (at least according to garyman6). There have also been a few times on busy days where I've seen it have a short line outside the station (not often, but sometimes).
  4. That's exactly how I'm feeling about 2016 right now. I want a new coaster just as much as the next person, but for now, we'll have to remain patient. As the saying goes, "Good things come to those who wait." It appears that they're making some landscaping changes to Soak City. From Dave Frazier's Twitter.
  5. Found this other picture of the red track from the same website. Looks to me like hyper/giga coaster track, but that's just a guess.
  6. ^ Any new developments with the land clearing near the dorms or the sign?
  7. ...before going to a park in the morning, you call the park to make sure all of the coasters you want to ride are running.
  8. I agree, I wish they would open Valleyfair for the season earlier than mid-May because the temperature averages for this time of year would likely allow for coaster operation. Factoring in the time needed for ride inspection and testing, they could probably be able to open by the last weekend in April, or at least have a passholder preview weekend (not this year because the park's new attractions don't open until Memorial Day weekeend). Also, I really don't think we have to worry about getting an SLC because it's been 15 years since Cedar Fair last bought a coaster from Vekoma (Boomerang at Worlds of Fun), and Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland is old enough that it probably wouldn't be worth relocating.
  9. Frankly, no. Even though a lot of folks think Wild Thing is boring, I enjoy it. Sure, it isn't balls-to-the-walls intense, but it's still lots of fun. I love the floater air going over the second hill, and the drop is nice too. Plus, it is an iconic ride for Valleyfair, and the park would be missing something without it. Although, I will admit Wild Thing's ending is pretty lackluster because of the mid-course brakes.
  10. All of the pictures of Thunderbird look wonderful. It definitely looks like it has the potential to be the best B&M Wing Coaster yet. I'm hoping to make a visit to Holiday World within the next few years.
  11. I was originally surprised hearing that they wanted to put more lounging areas in the waterpark because there are usually plenty of lounge chairs for everyone, but I guess they might need it since the waterpark will probably get a boost in attendance due to the expansion. Anyway, when they have another expansion in the future, they could probably use the area where the sandbox is now (circled below) because removing the sandbox really wouldn't be a loss for anyone. A decent sized (good quality) kids' play area or maybe a FlowRider could probably fit in that space.
  12. I think the problem everyone has with the splash pad is that it's very small and unimpressive compared to most children's play areas out there. When the play areas at small city-owned waterparks are better than the ones at chain parks owned by a large corporation, that's borderline embarrassing. Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, and Worlds of Fun are also getting similar splash pads, so at least it's not just Valleyfair that got the bad end of the deal.
  13. Flight Deck is 20 years old. At that point, is it really worth relocating? Also, the place where you put it wouldn't work because that's where Dinosaurs Alive is, which isn't supposed to leave for a while.
  14. Just curious, where did you hear that 2016 will be a major year for Michigan's Adventure?
  15. ^ What makes you think that Cedar Fair would relocate Flight Deck to Valleyfair?
  16. The splash pad is looking pretty wimpy . Looks like something you'd find at a small city waterpark. The new path near the waterpark looks a lot nicer than the old asphalt path. Pictures from Dave Frazier.
  17. I remember last June when Cedar Point closed due to the water main break, there were a few comments on the park's Facebook page asking if Soak City was still open. You really think they can open a waterpark if they don't have a water supply?
  18. Not completely Valleyfair-related, but for those of you that are obsessed with credits, there is a new family coaster called Tiger Trax opening at Como Town in St. Paul. http://www.twincities.com/family/ci_27865926/como-towns-new-roller-coaster-due-mid-may http://rcdb.com/12743.htm
  19. Granted, but none of them are near you. I wish for better service at my local movie theater (last time I was there, the movie started 15 minutes late).
  20. ^ Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was in County Fair across the midway from Demon, where Buccaneer Battle is now.
  21. Dave Frazier has been tweeting a lot of pictures of some general improvements from around the park. Children's volleyball courts near the new splash pad. New retaining wall being built near Renegade. They've repaved Looping Starship's queue line (which means it will probably be staying for a while); Chickies and Petes is getting resided and repainted. Work on the train tracks. Coasters diner has a new floor and is getting new booth seats. New ICEE stand. Also gives us a good view of the back of the slide tower. Finally, more High Roller retracking. Should help make it a lot smoother. Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out in May.
  22. 1) Cedar Point 2) Kings Island 3) Kings Dominion 4) Carowinds 5) Canada's Wonderland 6) Knott's Berry Farm 7) Dorney Park 8) Worlds of Fun 9) Valleyfair 10) California's Great America 11) Michigan's Adventure Gilroy Gardens doesn't really count because it is owned by the City of Gilroy, Cedar Fair only controls the park's operations .
  23. ^ I'm just going to the park for a few days this summer, and the in-park Wi-Fi would've been nice, but I guess I'll have to do without it.
  24. Looks like CP apparently won't be getting Wi-Fi this year. That stinks.
