I'm sure that picture probably doesn't mean anything. They made one of those for almost every Cedar Fair park, and most of them include a coaster that isn't at the park. -

I had to do a bit of searching, but I found this picture of Excalibur with the airtime hill from an Arrow Development blog. You can also see how the entrance to the the turnaround looked before they retracked it. -

I doubt that Cedar Fair would invest in another HUSS Giant Frisbee after the problems that maXair and Delirium have had. However, it would be nice if Valleyfair could receive a similar ride from another manufacturer. -

It looks like Valleyfair's new waterslides are going to be featured on the Travel Channel show Xtreme Waterparks sometime soon. Nice to see the park getting some more public recognition. From Valleyfair's Twitter page. -

As long as you sit in the front row or any non-wheel seat, it really isn't that bad. Personally, my biggest problem with Excalibur is it's length. I'd probably like it better if it had another 500-800 feet of track, but in its current state, it's okay at best, and I would not be surprised if it we hear a closing announcement later this season. -

^ I think they might just leave the Midway Stage as it is for a while since I see it being used fairly often, but replacing it with Larson Flyers or some other small flat ride might not out be completely out of the question. -
GCI: Are Their Days Over?
VF15 replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like others have said, I think it all depends on how well the parks maintain their coasters. Renegade jackhammered me a lot in 2013, but they've done some retracking on it over the past two offseasons which has resulted in a much smoother and more enjoyable ride. Perhaps the GCIs that are notorious for roughness could be also be improved with some retracking. -

I really like the current entrance as it is, but a new, more modern entrance might be necessary if Valleyfair wants to keep up with other corporate parks. A new coaster that goes over the entrance isn't necessary in my opinion because Wild Thing comes close enough. -

Anyone else find it interesting that the trains only have seven rows? I've never seen that before on a B&M hyper. -

Excited for them to finally announce the coaster! My prediction is that it will be a B&M hyper, but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised with something else. -

^ Valleyfair unfortunately doesn't offer any ERT for passholders. The closest thing they have to ERT is 30-minute early entry to Route 76 for Gold and Platinum passholders. -

It probably would have been a pretty short hyper if it had been built because Cedar Fair's other Morgan Hypers (Mamba, Wild Thing, Steel Force) all cost about $10 million. -

I've never seen whatever that is in the Excalibur queue. I try not to look too far into things, but this is very interesting. Could it be hinting at the removal of Excalibur/a new coaster next year? -

Not completely sure if this is true, but I heard somewhere that the $50 million for Carowinds' expansion plan was given to them by Cedar Fair and not money that the park made. Since Valleyfair was marked as park with potential for significant expansion along with Carowinds and California's Great America, it's possible that a certain amount was given to Valleyfair too. I doubt they would give them a full $50 million though because Valleyfair's market is not as large as Carowinds'. -

Whatever Valleyfair's next addition to the waterpark will be, I'm hoping that they will get a little more creative with the slide layouts because even though the new slide tower will be a lot a fun (haven't ridden it yet), four of the six slides have basically the same layout. Another thing I'd like to see them do is expand the lazy river in some way because, in its current state, it's a very short lazy river compared to the ones at other major parks. -

^ My mistake, I meant to say Tilter (not Scrambler) in my previous post. The old Tilter spot is where I think an Air Race or a relocated Enterprise would go over well. -

The old Scrambler spot probably isn't big enough to fit a maXair style ride. My ideal scenario would be for them to put a Zamperla Air Race where Scrambler was because those rides look like a lot of fun . I could also see them relocating Enterprise to that spot if they need more room for whatever eventually replaces the Amphitheater. I hope they don't remove Enterprise altogether though because that ride is a guilty pleasure of mine. -

I don't think Valleyfair will/should get a dive coaster. I feel like it would have to be a one-trick pony like Oblivion to fit within the budget. A full-sized dive coaster like SheiKra or Griffon might be too expensive. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is also my concern since many people seem to want their home Cedar Fair park to get a B&M in 2016. If the trend of one B&M per year continues, next year's coaster is most likely going to Cedar Point. It would be nice if they could get two B&Ms per year, but those coasters can be quite expensive even if it is a smaller model. I personally think Kings Dominion could use a GCI/RMC wooden coaster because KD has several wooden coasters, but none of them look like real standouts. -

^ It's too bad it has to go since it looks like a fun woodie, but I guess it's the only way for them to expand the water park. It is possible that I might be visiting Carowinds in July, so I might get a chance to ride it before it's history. Here's the official facebook announcement. -

Under most circumstances, I would agree with dippindotsguy8, but this is the first year I can remember where Excalibur only has one train on the track to start the season. Of course, they might just be doing this because it never needs the second train (only once have I ever seen two-train operations on Excalibur), however, this still seems a bit odd. On another note, I posted these a while back, but I noticed these small markings on the ground near the amphitheater/train station last week. Anyone think they mean anything? -

I had a partial grey-out when I last rode Excalibur, good to know it's not only happening to me. A little odd because Excalibur isn't the most intense ride in the park. I'm pretty sure that whatever Valleyfair is getting next year is already a done deal. Plus, all things considered, I feel that a new coaster probably won't be coming until at least 2017 (although I could be wrong). Be patient, the time will come eventually.
