  1. ^ Except for some light headbanging on the way back down the front spike the second time around, Steel Venom is a pretty smooth ride. Also, that headbanging is really only felt in the first 3 rows or so. Not sure why some of you think the whole ride is bumpy.
  2. X2 - Six Flags Magic Mountain
  3. Whenever there is a line of small children waiting to get their height checked for a ride, they always stand directly in front of the entrance to the queue line. This literally happens all the time, and it gets quite annoying. This problem could be solved if parks placed the height measuring area a few feet farther away from the queue entrance.
  4. Is Goliath still going to be ready by May 31st? Given the amount of work still left to be done, I find it hard to believe that it will be ready on time.
  5. ^ Why so? Steel Venom's holding brake works just fine. I find it to be a fun part of the ride because it happens so suddenly, and I love hearing the GP freak out about it.
  6. I'd say that Valleyfair has some more competition than just NU, including Mt. Olympus, Adventureland, and to some extent Six Flags Great America. The reason I say Six Flags Great America is because some people have said that they would rather take one trip a year to SFGAm than have a season pass to Valleyfair. While SFGAm is definitely a better park, I won't go as far as saying I'd rather go there once than go to Valleyfair multiple times.
  7. Granted, you would get stuck on the ride and be trapped. I wish that ride ops would stop fooling around in the station when a train is being loaded.
  8. Ultra Twister - Nagashima Spa Land
  9. ^ I asked the same question several pages back. I'm not certain of this, but I think it was because a cable snapped on Cedar Point's Skyhawk, and Valleyfair wanted to play things safe. It could have been something else though.
  10. ...you know the brace position for Vekomas, Arrows, and other rough coasters. ...you know what "lockers" means.
  11. Saw on Dave Frazier's Twitter that Xtreme Swing has both sides working, which is nice. Both swings running makes the line move faster, and is much more visually appealing. Looking forward to lots of on it this year.
  12. Quicksilver Express - Gilroy Gardens
  13. Granted, at Six Flags America. I wish that the GP would stop making up bogus coaster facts (1000 mph, 1000 inversions, etc...)
  14. ^ It's great to hear that they are working to make the woodies smoother. Even though Renegade isn't "death machine" rough, the rattle it has developed lately can get annoying, as I would get a minor headache after a few rides. Even though I'm glad they're making High Roller smoother, the thing I'd like to see the most is lightening up on the trim brakes because those bunny hop hills do have airtime, but it's so light that some people might not even notice. It would have been nice to hear about improvements for Excalibur, but if it's on it's way out in a few years, then it probably wouldn't be worth it.
  15. Granted, but it would use up the money needed for a new coaster (Darien Lake needs a new coaster badly). I wish that people would stop dribbling basketballs on park walkways.
  16. ^ This is great news! This is making me look forward to Saturday that much more. It's good that the queue TVs won't be blasting ads at you all the time like at Six Flags parks. The weather and wait times will definitely be very helpful. Sounds like I was right about Steel Venom's queue line being shortened. Not sure why they need two more picnic pavilions, but I guess they will be nice additions.
  17. Oblivion - Alton Towers
  18. Mind Eraser - Various Parks
  19. Planning to go to Valleyfair this Saturday. I've never been on opening Saturday, so for those of you that have gone in the past, how busy will it be? On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being near-empty midways and walk-ons, and 10 being so crowded it's not worth going anymore, I'm guessing it will be about a 3, but since I've never gone on opening Saturday, I'm not 100% sure.
  20. Random question, but does anyone know why Valleyfair isn't opening this weekend? I've been seeing all the buzz about Cedar Point opening today, and from what I've seen over the past few years, Valleyfair usually opens on the same day as Cedar Point, but this year is an exception (correct me if I'm wrong). At first, I thought that being open the first weekend in November was supposed to make up for it, but since all the other Cedar Fair parks are open that weekend (minus Michigan's Adventure), I don't think it is. Next weekend needs to get here, pronto. I haven't been on a coaster since October, and I'm about to reach my breaking point. Speaking of closing weekend, it will be interesting to see if the weather holds out for it, because during that time of year in MN, the weather can be really unpredictable.
  21. Having a plate of churros the size of the world! What's better than never having to wait in line at an amusement park ever again?
  22. Hurler - Kings Dominion
  23. I saw this on the TPR Twitter page. Looks like Outlaw Run, Gravity Max, Steel Dragon 2000, and Full Throttle are confirmed to be on the show this year.
  24. I agree completely. When I was a little kid, my parents never forced me on big scary rides because I would get scared half to death. Now, I'm obsessed with those types of rides, but I still hate it when parents have the attitude of "You're riding this whether you like it or not!" Why can't they just find something more suitable for them? One time at SeaWorld Orlando, when I was about to ride Journey to Atlantis, the whole ride was delayed for five minutes because one little kid was screaming at the top of his lungs "I DON'T WANNA RIDE!", and they spent those few minutes unlocking the restraints to get him out. While thrill rides and roller coasters are awesome, you shouldn't force someone that young that doesn't want to ride it to ride.
