  1. That would be fantastic! And, it would bring much needed, new, life to to the Tidal Wave area back of the park. Rip out TW, add a Raptor, a couple shops/restaurant and boom...whole new area! Man, what a great idea...
  2. One thing is for sure, you won't be getting an RMC conversion. Otherwise the park would have already announced the ride closure like SFOG with Georgia Cyclone. An S&S 4D would indeed be the most likely scenario. There's also the possibility of a water coaster like SFFT's Thunder Rapids. Either way, you would be getting something great for the park. well two years in a row with new rides in the amusement section, I suspect the water park might get a new attraction next year. my two cents Kevin I'm praying it's a water park addition. That way they can't claim to "add a steel coaster" with a f***ing 4d flippy-do time. I've been on those and it's just NOT a steel coaster. I'd like to see us get skipped on a "big" investment and have them re-locate a steel looper or something. Even if it's re-located. OR, use the new S&S models they posted....but for god sake, add something bigger/good.
  3. Worried that all the wheels are hinting at a spinning coaster. UGH. They should just replicate Helix and watch the masses flood. I agree, they should build an improved version of Helix and theme it on the level of Baron 1898 and they would have a huge winner.
  4. Worried that all the wheels are hinting at a spinning coaster. UGH. They should just replicate Helix and watch the masses flood.
  5. Coming from someone who did and would visit yearly from STL, MO (8.5 hour drive), these are my sentiments 10000% as well. Nailed it.
  6. I'm far from an expert but don't they have misters on the launch track to cool the LIMs? I might be wrong but I sort of remember seeing that on opening weekend. I don't really know why a coaster with an LSM launch would be leaking hydraulic fluid in the launch area, so I'd imagine that it's water. I think you're right. I was just there a month or two ago and remember seeing misters on the same area. Assuming it was to cool the piping and metal.
  7. Great call...and really good idea. Never really planned it out that much, I suppose. We load up on bringing in RX Bars and the alike in a backpack - but like everything in the heat, they melt. That'll be our next thing to do! I wasn't "coming out of the woodwork", nor did I claim healthy food was a problem to overall attendance. Somoene mentioned they need to refresh/update/improve eating options and it reminded me how unhealthy their options were; even though we shared the impossible to avoid cinnamon bread. I wish parks overall would improve options, across the country.
  8. The food options MUST get better. My wife and I are very healthy eaters and it's damn near impossible to do anything healthy or "not fried" inside the park. That hindered some of our spending. I also returned a Fast Pass purchase when LR was down (lucky I got 4 rides in over 2 full days at the park). There are some basic, easy changes that will go a long way like someone mentioned: social media. They should be WAY better with that and they need to be more transparent on what's happening and timelines with LR. That pissed me off the most. Planning a 9 hour drive last summer to experience the park full price while a $20 mil lawn ornament sat dormant. Rolled the dice and came back this year before the 2 month downtime. But still...
  9. For example: Even though this was the Mack mega launch coaster that tested the spinning car, this could go either way. Weird they showed a couple vids of Maverick! Great vid though....hope it's a hybrid of BF and Helix. It'd be unique to the states....and we all know how Herschend likes to roll the dice on firsts!
  10. Worlds of Fun and Six Flags at this point should just prepare for a beating. You'd have to be absolutely out of your mind to pick Mamba and Prowler or Mr. Freeze and American Thunder as opposed to Outlaw Run and this new bada$$ Mack. Even if they took out Outlaw Run tomorrow, the park would still be a much better place to visit. Cedar Fair and Six Flags, please prepare to take this L. Yes. 100% correct.
  11. SFStL is probably due for a S&S 4-D Free Fly for 2018 UGH, yep. Not to throw this thread into a tiff....but that's what will happen at SFStL and I was talking in that thread about my disgust/disappointment in parks surrounding STL making BIG investments and improving their coaster lineup and I damn near got ran out of this website for it and saying how poor of a job SFStL is doing competing with close/driveable competition. That said, I can't express my sincere and ridiculous excitement for this new coaster. Even if this is Helix's watered down cousin, I think this thing is gonna be incredible. Herschend is renowned for taking risks on new additions and have hit dingers with each of them (first full build RMC, TnT, Wild Eagle, and Lightning Rod (despite growing pains)). I am already planning a visit there with the wife in the spring of next year
  12. All valid points. I didn't mean to piss people off. I didn't mean to assume everyone in here, either, has my view. I live 20 mins from SFStL and my wife and I will go to SFStL for the HIP festivities because it's visually cool and fun to do. However, she (not being an enthusiast in any way) prefers to go other places that make new, yearly/bi-yearly BIG/REAL additions than to go to SFStL because it's close. That is being done without any of my influences. I've been a frequent follower and don't post as many people do in here and would like to expand on the fact that I'm well aware of ProZach and his view/past view of the park and some of the backlash he got for that. I'd also like to reinforce that I firmly believe HWFan is one of (if not) THE best posters/members of this forum. I'd like to personally apologize to him and reiterate that my negative view/posts on SFStL is not directed at him or his passion for the park. I regularly hop in here to see what he has to say...and 100% of the time enjoy the small tidbits of information he shares. That's really cool! My point is that it's so hard to get excited to return to my home park year in and out when they (SF Corp) won't bless the park with a HUGE GLARING ISSUE: wow factor coaster. I feel they really missed the boat not RMC'ing the Boss. Anyway....I'm really sorry if I ruffled the feathers and I truly did NOT mean to offend anyone. I will say this, aside from looking in this thread and hearing about rumbles of something that SFStL MIGHT do for next year - I'll avoid discussion and will follow the creation of something that really peaks my/our interest in the SDC thread. I cannot wait to see what this Mack Coaster turns out to be. Again, I'm very sorry and probably my frustration (with the lack of a star attraction for several years being installed to SFStL and the inevitable Spinny 4D knock off clone for Corp to "throw a steel bone" at the park coming) got the best of me when I feel/see the excitement of high-end investments in other close-to-home parks (SDC, HW, WoF rumblings, Kings Island, hell - even SF Chicago) and chose to go to places that have newer, thrilling, fun capital investments at. I'll stop there. Everyone have a beer and smile. Sorry to piss everyone off Cheers, y'all.
  13. Six Flags is 35 minutes from downtown St. Louis and has a cheaper price point than any of those parks (especially since the majority of Six Flags guests have an absurdly cheap season pass or membership). You could easily make a case that their thrill rides are better than Worlds of Fun and Holiday World (this one depends on preference but is mostly an irrelevant point anyway) and unlike Silver Dollar City they have a water park included with admission. A Mack spinning coaster or whatever SDC is building isn't going to suck the market away from Six Flags. The park is 4 hours away, most people wouldn't consider that a day trip which means it comes with the additional cost of a hotel room. Silver Dollar City is 4 hours away, Worlds of Fun is 3 hours and 45 minutes away, Holiday World is 3 hours away. None of those parks are competing with Six Flags St. Louis for the St. Louis market. They have the market cornered and they know it. 1: It's not just a "Mack Spinny Coaster". It's a significant and biggest investment in SDC history. I promise they aren't gonna throw a Cobra Curse V2 in that plot of land....especially with the amount of footers visible to the eye. Yes, a world class coaster like a Helix V2 would draw people away. 2: Depending on where you live in the STL Metro area, it's 3+ hours; like I said. 3: They most certainly ARE competing with the STL market. Hence advertising in the STL area....advertising that is NOT SFStL. Many of my friends and family have/will visit the other 3 parks mentioned before SFStL. SFStL is and has become very stale. There isn't anything grabbing people to return; that's just a fact. Local(ish) parks are running laps around them and making real investments.
  14. WoF is "way better" than SFStL? dubious. I much prefer WoF and OoF better than SFStL. Not to mention power and light and a safer/better downtown....with a football team
  15. Hopefully someday.... Hate to be a downer.....but it better be QUICK! The $22+ Million investment with Mack's new coaster in Silver Dollar City will suck all the St Louis market away! You've got a way better park in each direction 3+ hours away from St Louis: Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun KC and Holiday World. All of which are making significant capital purchases to improve their park and keep people engaged with coming back! I'm not wasting money on SFStL next year and will be doing both HW and SDC instead, sorry to say. And SFStL is 25 mins away...
  16. MAN! If it's anything like the new Mack previewed in WB Australia, this thing is gonna kick serious @$$!!!!!! SFStL better do something...quick.
  17. Hell yea....Six Flags StL used to be amazing! Back when theming was a thing and they'd invest in coasters I also miss that voice giving directions. That queue was one of my favorite as a kid!
  18. I hope it's more like Helix and less like Cobra's Curse. Hopefully it's not similar to the BGT coaster. Hoping for a launched Helix type with an inversion or two.
  19. Can't say I blame you, there. It is a big void when you go there seeing such a giant, amazing, work of engineering sitting there and unable to walk in and ride. Despite the awesome park and other rides, there's something about seeing it there not operating that drives you crazy and can really put a damper on the trip. I hope they're able to get it up and running before the full-fledged summer season.
  20. I don't know if this has ever been discussed, but would HW ever explore RMC'ing one of their woodies there? I'm sorry if this has been discussed, but I don't come in this thread often I ask because it would/could be a way to get some inversions/"steel" in there without building a whole new ride and investment.
  21. I also thought that once I saw all the problems. Riding this thing is literally insane, though. I do not agree with the others who say "once you ride it, all the headaches and downtime are worth it". Bottom line, $20+ million investment gone very south....nothing makes that "ok".
