  1. I'm sick of "understaffed" being a legitimate reason for things to be closed. You're an amusement park, in the summer, on a bring a friend free day - get it right. Good lord.
  2. They have an add with a local TV station, FOX 2. They have a big Facebook ad on their page and promoting a getaway to "The best park around and voted cleanest park in the country". Crazy how much advertising is going into HW: http://fox2now.com/2016/07/13/win-8-one-day-passes-to-holiday-world-splashin-safari-2/ Good! Maybe 6 Flags will recognize and get corporate to show some love.
  3. Well said! AND, you'll save $20 for parking at SFStL!! Coaster Capital of Mizzourisssssss!!!!! Seriously.....they better step their game up because there's a rumored coaster addition to Holiday World as well; 3 hours from downtown STL. They're advertising like crazy here! They get my business before going to a park that gets the bird every offseason.
  4. No way!!! Boomerang is so new!! It's teh new rollercoastr!!!! Brand NEW for SFStL...the COASTER CAPITAL
  5. ^ I think you're not comparing proper parks here. In no way does Disney or Universal tote itself as a "thrill park". Instead they are THEME parks. There is no room at all for Disney, a 100000000% kid/family park to build a B&M hyper; it makes no sense at all. Now, how does someone like Cedar Fair attract more people? : Banshee, Fury, Gatekeeper, Valravn.....see the connecting dots? Universal and Disney rely on technology because they immerse you in theming and make you a part of the action/story/movie. Six Flags and Cedar Fair don't care about theming; ever. So to say you don't expect Six Flags STL to get a hyper because the JL is such a hit, doesn't make much sense; no offense. I think we need to make sure we're comparing apples to apples.
  6. Trying to wax an old, dull, pile of poo-poo. Sounds about like 6 Flags! Living here in STL, I am shocked they're trying to market this as a new coaster. It's laughable.
  7. That's what happens when you buy a 26 year old used vehicle.....stuff breaks.
  8. The park is INSANELY well done. We drove 8 hrs from STL to visit a couple weeks ago. The park is so well done,it literally hides a B&M wing rider. You can barely see if from the parking lot. The park is literally perfect. It's small, compact, packs a HUGE punch and has the best feel I've ever experienced. It also helped we went on a Sunday and Monday where we literally sat on Mystery Mine and got re-rides. And Wild Eagle was running empty trains. But still. Amazing place. Wish it wasn't 8 hours away or I'd go all the time. When RMC can build an insanely huge woodie and you can't see 3/4 of it,the park is winning.
  9. Dbl post, sorry. I thought Gert's Mystery Mine was/is genius. Why can't 6F add something like that? It's thrilling, yet kids can enjoy.
  10. Yes, agree with all of this 100000% also. I came back from Dollywood last week. WOW...for such a small park, they NAIL it. Only 6 coasters, but ALL very unique, well themed and well planned out. I would rather drive 8 hours for that, than 25 mins for 6 Flags. Not to mention, if 6 Flags WAS SMART...they'd make a big investment next year because Silver DOllar City is building a HUGE new coaster next year. So, to compete they'll need more than a cute little spinner.
  11. You're looking at Six Flags as a whole. You're not considering the people working in the marketing department who would prefer to keep their jobs. Now as far as the screamscape news, I hate being right all the time. I can live with something like a Larson Loop with a hope that something decent is coming in the future. But, when you taunt us with one of those little generic free spin coasters, which just seems like a large flat, that may be more disappointing than the idea of the Blues getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs... again. I'll take another year of being passed over in 2017 for even a slighter chance for thrilling steel in 2018, as opposed to getting a free spin and being passed over with near certainty for another five years. I was 12 years old when the last ride I was truly excited for opened in the park. Then, the park pissed all over it for me by turning it backwards. At this point, I may be in my forties before we get something that trills me again. I say again... Please pass us over. We'll take a chance at what's behind door #2. Could NOT agree with you more! Those S&S Free Spins are a joke for a "major rollercoaster addition". I REALLY REALLY hope we're passed over for one of those. I don't get why the park can't get even a moved B&M or something? A free spin will yet again disappoint everyone even more than Blues being knocked out after a 3-1 series lead....
  12. I've been there 4 times, but all while on the family's dime I just couldn't recall, is all. Thanks for clearing that up; I figured that was the case. I'm just glad my wife gets into going places like I do!
  13. Thanks to all who responded, very helpful! Consensus is that timeframe in October would be ok Sun-Wed? Last, do they have a deal where if you buy a ticket/come after 2/3pm, the next day is free kinda thing? Or is it only 2 day park hopper valid on say, Monday and Tuesday and NOT Sunday after 3? If that makes sense....
  14. Wife and I are thinking of doing the Universal "stuff" for our 1 year anniversary this October. How would crowds be on a Sunday (Oct 16th) through Wednesday (Oct 19th)? I know it's during Halloween stuff, but we really wanted to go in October. Otherwise, we can do September. She has never been to Uni and is a big Potter fan....and loves theme parks. Thanks for any help
  15. Was at the park today and yesterday....not even mad about LR even tho it was the point of the trip planned in Dec. But to say it's "due to extensive commissioning" as a consumer really pisses me off. It should say "LR is experiencing problems and is set to open later" because it's a flat out lie to say it isn't because of Dollywood and RMC's bullshit 3rd party hiring that went wrong. I work in a consumer driven market, and if we said "we didn't deliver because of extensive testing and commissioning" we'd flat out lose our clientele. Anyway....very impressed with the park and LOVED the people. The layout was fantastic. Only "suggestion" would be to add a big time expansion ride to the World Fair or carnival area whatever that's called. My wife and I didn't know it even existed till day 2. That area needs some help. Otherwise, loved the compactness of the park and how much fun it was traversing through the hills. Hope to come back after "comissioning" (sarcasm) Lastly...loved the way they build everything into the mountains. Unless you're going there, you'd never know the place existed by driving by.
  16. The two best alpine coasters are right there in town (Smoky Mt and Goats on the Roof) The one in Gatlinburg (while the fastest) is the shortest and the one up in Ober Gatlinburg is really rough. The Skyway chair lift in Gatlinburg is quite fun. The best Mexican restaurant in the area is Emiliano's on Community Center Drive. Don't waste your time at No Way Jose's Awesome, thanks!
  17. Wife and I are here in Pigeon Forge. Planned coming here back in December when the opening was supposed to be March so I booked this for April for a "buffer". Never been before and a bit let down but what can ya do? Anywho.....we're gonna be hanging around tomorrow before doing the park at 3. We'd like to do a couple Alpine coasters or something along that line. Recommendations please?! Cheers
  18. It is! I grew up in the area...fun little pub. Good times there.
  19. Foreshadowing? Good call? Holiday World did a huge revamp of their power grid for the prep of Thunderbird. But who knows....
  20. I always wanted to stay at a Dollywood Cabin until I figured out this existed. Stay there instead. Drink up. Lol Researched and did an Air BnB. $91 a night for the wife and I. In the mountains 2 miles from DW. 2 story, 2 BR 1.5 BA with pool table, flat screens wrap around porch with hot tub: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/9505765 We're going in April. Very excited.
  21. Seriously? Other parks in the chain are getting RMCs or similar - but hey, at least we get double rides on the Eagle. What wrong with double rides on Eagle. Allow me to answer that rhetorical question. Nothing. We got Justice League last year. Fireball, general improvements, and Holiday in the Park this year. Looks like a good year to me. Some people just have to complain!! That's because we are very Hyper-sensitive to what the other parks are getting, and the Screamin' Eagle isn't as 'High Per' those other coasters we envy. ...Catch what I am sayin' Ah, the poor dead horse. Beaten so many times that it is nothing more than a bloodstain in a field. Yet some people continue to walk up to that dead horse, get upset that its still dead and beat it some more. Not so much JUST the hyper....but that Six Flags is getting passed HUGELY in all competitive markets around; HW gets a HUGE Beamer, SDC is now going to have TWO NEW CUSTOM coasters after the new 2017 addition, Dollywood has installed THREE NEW custom coasters. It's just terrible they won't do anything to stay competitive is really the frustration. Yet ALL other SF parks get coasters. Oh well....looking forward to my Dollywood trip in April
  22. They're really marketing Lightning Rod for Thrills in the Hills: http://www.dollywood.com/themepark/Festivals/ThrillsintheHills?cid=sf45200699+sf45200699 Got to believe it's at least a week or so away from opening......?
  23. Don't forget, it's presented by Allegra!!!!!!!
  24. SDC sent out a survey. Either a launched Mack Spinner or a gigantic B&M Diver with 4 inversions....2017 HEY, at least we have Fireball!
  25. I should've clarified.....in regards to SFStL. They work with a source very close to the MO Theme Park Industry. Nice call out
