my two cents - is it possible SFSL gets passed by because we are NOT a destination park? SDC is in a destination City (BRANSON) and many other SF parks have a larger population base to draw from. I suspect RMC can write their own tickets nowadays and maybe a conversion is way out of the parks budget. SFSL is the baby brother in the chain and gets the hand me downs. Updating a coaster is great, but if they can't properly maintain a carousel or even paint the St Louis train station, or wipe the dust from the fans there, maybe there are other reasons the park isn't' more popular and able to justify the Coaster upgrades. Kevin Kevin - nice observation. You're probably on track. It's weird that it's so passed up. Look at what Six Flags Mexico even got the past few years in comparison - a THEMED Pandemonium in form of Joker with cool FX, RMC Medusa, SkyScreamer and now JLBFM. WOW. I'd be thrilled with that! I don't get why SFStL is passed over and Mexico gets that kinda treatment. Yes, RMC-ing the Boss is now gone forever. They would "LOL" at SFStL if they asked to do so for the would have been price. Terrible decision making at corporate, I guess. Yeah, I get your destination theory - why is Holiday World killing it then? They're in the middle of nowhere. Added a launched wing, several woodies, a super waterpark and another new coaster in the next 1-2 years?

I don't mean to be a downer, but I'm frustrated with SFStL and SF Corporate: SF had an exclusive deal with RMC FIRST. After NTAG and Iron Rattler, it was a proven amazing upgrade to wooden, troubled, coasters. The Boss SCREAMS daily "please renovate me, I continue to destroy visitors' vertebra by the every ride". SF re-did a TON of coasters all over their chain that didn't need improvements near as bad as the Boss. And not only that, they SAW the crazy appeal for RMC in SDC, SF parks all over the country (and Mexico), had an exclusive contract with them at their "entry rate". Yet, they didn't address the need to RMC the Boss? WHY? I know it was a money thing at first (after RMC's supply/demand proved high). But now it's a pipe dream that'll never ever happen. RMC is arguably the new B&M. Everyone wants one in their park. SFStL won't buck up for it....even though everyone wants it and could cut down maintenance PLUS market as a new coaster. Just watching the hype of Mean RMC in the Cedar Point thread and it's given me another BIG reason to go there. I just wish we could get SOMETHING to get us back on the map. I feel RMC Boss would do it. Not to mention, SDC is in the middle of ANOTHER gigantic attraction....with another Beamer on deck in a year or 2. **sad face** I don't mean to be negative. Just wondering why SF won't buck up for the Iron Boss. And I know that nobody really knows....but they better get their ass in gear for a coaster (and not a spinny looper crap 3 story flippidy do-da) as SDC and closer parks are passing them up with AMAZING attractions year in and out.... Happy February

When brakes bite hard
TrippinBillie replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The original Twisted Sisters at Kentucky Kingdom ending FLYING into the last break run and the Screamin Eagle at the end before the station. I remember these being really harsh. -
Nice TR! I'm extremely jealous of your wait times. My wife, brother and sister were there from 530-9pm. Waied 40 mins for 1 train operation Batman, 32 for 1 train operation of Thunder, Freeze was short wait...walked right on, no wait for Xcalibur, 20ish for Panda, and then walk on at Mine Train. Skipped Ninja for obvious reasons. I, too, really enjoyed the park and the excellent lighting. We really had a nice time. It's probably going to be this event next year until my return. The lighting and darkness really helped mask some of the "holes" the park has during summer operation. Cool you met Josh, he seems to be a very shining light on a park that really needs some help. I enjoy his updates!

I posted earlier from the park on my phone about the kids being annoying with the hand warmers. I didn't mean to be a downer....but the "babysitting" aspect is really a true thing. We, on Thursday night, experienced a lot of line jumping and the entitled teen mentality which really sucks when you're trying to enjoy everything. That said, WOW. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I hope this becomes something that is an every year type of thing. I would love to incorporate this event into our family tradition at Christmas time. The atmosphere, the lights, the theming, the carolers (VERY TALENTED!!!) and of course, THE RIDES. Only bummer is the single train operations on everything. Waits were REALLY bad for a Thursday night. But, I guess that's to be expected. I'd think it wouldn't kill to add 2 trains on AT, Batman and Freeze. Oh well. I would also like to point out that many of the ride ops were having a great time and genuinely looked happy. I will get a season pass for THIS only moving forward. It was night and day better than summer operation and scenery/theming. Wife, brother and sister all had a blast.

... it's too early for this. I really don't get what everybody's problem with these things are. It seems that everybody that has actually ridden one really likes the 4D's. Seriously, has anyone heard anything negative about them from people who have actually ridden them? I have ridden one. It's good, not great. When you've been starved of steel for several years and there isn't a steel coaster that's unique, it's a big let down. That's all. And there are other 4ds around to ride, so it's a huge letdown if that's what we get a bone thrown to SFStL in the form of "steel".

Happy it isn't the stupid flippidy, crapola, spinarama, 4d, cookie cutter, bail out, here's your steel coaster, addition! HOPING/PRAYING that's not what's to come next year. Give the park something WORTH coming for; especially with SDC's new coaster, Dollywood LR, KI's woodie and HW's wing coaster. It needs something BIG. And not S&S....

I think a S&S 4D coaster would be a great addition to the park. I know it's not a hyper or a RMC, but it looks like a lot of fun. Plus, it would be completely different from all of the other coasters in the park. The fact is that Six Flags just isn't paying for big B&M or Intamin coasters any more. The last B&M they installed was X-Flight in 2012, and the last non-RMC/non-4D was Fu11 Throttle in 2013. I just think it'll be funny when we get a 4d. It's a cheap "out" to say "there St Louis, there's your steel coaster". It's BS that it's the way they'll shove it down our throats. "You all want steel, here you go".....when we all know it's an out. Why not go with something else that's unique to THIS park? I'm no "fanboy" by any means, I simply choose to go elsewhere and have more fun for my dollar that way (Dollywood, SDC, Kings Island, Holiday World" because they have unique rides to their area and invest in their big rides. I wish we could admit that a 4d is an out and it's sad they think that's our "treat" and it'll be another 10 years till we get another coaster....by then, who knows what cookie cutter we'll be thrown?

^ A lot of writing there; and some good points. I think your end statement is what everyone is NOT claiming for. "SFSTL will not be a MM or CP". Agreed. Never EVER will it be either. But I do not think that I/we are in the wrong for not wanting to go to SFSTL due to lack of investing in thrills/coasters, are we? We got a good wood coaster in 2008, I guess? Don't even get me started about the 26 year old Boomerang shipped to us. Then next year SF gets a bargain on buying a bunch of 4D flippy-drop-dip non-coaster thingies and we're supposed to LOVE IT? Put a freakin coaster in the park!!!!!!!!!! We were to have a B&M hyper. Now we get nothing, ever. Put Lightning Run (hyper-like coaster from Kentucky Kingdom) or buy a TRex prototype on the cheap from RMC. Damn, look at Mexico getting so much love over even an in state SF (us). RMC the Boss and forego steel for 10 more years; do something good and thrilling is all I'm saying....

After my most recent visit to the park I think any Six Flags park is more attractive to visit than SFStL. Good point. I just meant, SFMexico has Justice League announced, an RMC that is amazing, a nice Joker themed coaster and is a much more attractive visit; NOT IN AMERICA, to boot. Strange. EDIT* AND A HYPER But do they have Boomerang!??? THEY DO! That's even funnier.....
