  1. My guess for Hangtime is either for a ride where the passengers hang/are suspended below the ride vehicle (B&M Invert, Chance Revolution) or for a ride that inverts riders slowly--giving them hangtime.
  2. No. That's when people come out of the woodwork to whine and riot in the streets about how iconic it was and that it was always their favorite attraction and how they will never visit the park again until they bring it back.
  3. I was under the impression that the contract with Universal/Marvel was limited to the Florida parks. But then again, it's been a while since I've heard it from a reliable source.
  4. There a lot of single-operator rides at any given park. As for the thumbs up and saying "clear," they are required to do that. And if they don't and some higher up sees...
  5. Went through IROC today. Joining the Power Tower/MRVR team this year! I get to drive a train! Childhood dreams do come true!
  6. Operating an S&S Space Shot, just as the cart launched, the guest's shoe fell off and plinko'd down the inside of the tower.
  7. Assuming the TapuTapu works as designed, on a scale of "so easy, a caveman could do it" to "rocket science," how easy is it to use/explain to guests how it works?
  8. All the times you mentioned how dead the park was, as if Dorney ever really draws a crowd.
  9. Spent a couple hours in the park today and found out that that construction going on in the corner where the arcade was located by American Girl/Atomic Collider will be an escape room. Surprisingly, today was my first time on the park's Moser drop tower. After operating an S&S tower for two years and having experienced Falcon's Fury, it was definitely a fun little tower. Good pops (teases) of airtime that scared the school group I rode with. Either I have dreadful aim, or many of the Ghost Blasters targets aren't working. Also shamelessly sang the log flume song during my ride.
  10. *Early 2000s Valley Girl Accent* Like thank God. I like, heard from the dippin' dots guy that somebody like totally died riding it last week. It's no wonder it's being torn down. It was just like, too scary. */accent* But anywho, BOOOOOOOOOOOOAT!
  11. Hersheypark does not and has never had a coaster from Premier. Methinks you are confusing it with Sky Rocket at Kennywood, 3 hours to the west.
  12. With the season now in full swing, I'm finally getting around to posting a quick photo report from last season. Looping into the sunset. Corkscrew over the midway. LOOP-DEE-LOOOOP! Sun setting over the midway Looking up while they're looking down. Take a good look... Because you likely won't see it much longer. Loved the sidewalk/bike trail that runs along the south side of the park. Great spots for photography. High Roller about to enter the final turn. High Rolling down the main drop. If only I got it while Corkscrew was going through the loop. Hold the wife and hide the young'uns! The Renegade's a-runnin! Wild Thing Sunset Take the Tunnel! So many trains, so many fails at this shot.
  13. The plan specifies the removal of Excalibur, the building of new parking lots (one for guests, one for staff), and the relocation of the employee entrance. Soak City expansion plans beyond this would likely come later. The plan allows for said expansion. With approval seemingly granted, I wonder when shovels will actually hit the dirt. That will likely depend on how far out the cap ex plans are cemented, along with when the Carowinds/CGA-esque expansion starts in earnest. But for now, I'm predicting a Frisbee for 2018, some sort of Soak City expansion for 2019 (whether or not that has anything to do with these plans...), and that long-rumored/awaited B&M Invert in 2020. Screenshot of the document.
  14. I don't know what I'm more excited for here with RMC Mean Streak: Riding it myself or hearing Robb's on-ride commentary.
  15. While I can't speak for the GP, I present to you... The Cedar Point coaster that enthusiasts swooned over before Mean Streak closed.
  16. The new Kong attraction was based on the 2005 Peter Jackson movie judging by the monkey's design. And a new Kong movie came out a couple months ago and pulled in similar numbers (before inflation) at the box office and is connected to a larger movie universe. I doubt there will be any change and if there is any, it'll probably be what SharkTums said. It seems like more of a Tom Cruise thing to do than Brendan Fraser anyways.
  17. Unless this thing has the B&M Roar or Intamin Impulse Scream, noise will not be an issue at all. Up through 2015, Valleyfair's Wild Thing had an enormously loud MCBR, and it caused the nearby ampitheatre to pretty much shut down because acts didn't want to play over it. So in 2016, a new ampitheatre was built and a "muffler" of sorts was added to the MCBR. The show in the ampitheatre was a stunt show. So there was some worry in the Valleyfair forum about how the MCBR would affect the safety of the performers. The adrenaline+music+muffler=no problem for performers or audience during the show.
  18. The park has by no means a bad collection of rides/attractions. It's just operated with all the care and precision of a drunken jackhammer. They've spent all their money on buying more and more hotels/resorts in the area, that they have no maintenance budget left to fix Hades/Zeus/Pegasus/Cyclops or keep their attractions from going all Final Destination on every other customer. With the recent news that Six Flags is looking at purchasing parks, I would love to see a more corporate sensibility come to the park, even if it is Six Flags.
  19. HOLY FOTHERMUCKING DONKEYSH!T *Packs Bags* Now I wonder how/if this utterly bananaballs land will impact the future Avatar sequels.
