  1. I really love the immelmann, reminds me of an inside top-hat with different twists. As for the cost, maybe it can be explained by the fact it has been designed and it is build "in-house"?
  2. I can see it right now. They are testing out the light at the top of the lift, and all the supports for the first turn are up:
  3. Considering this is indeed a duel elevator system, that makes the free-fall more unlikely.
  4. The webcam shows where the ride will be located:
  5. It's 116°, Takabisha is 121.
  6. ^ Thanks. Fun and odd is indeed quite a good description. In pure S&S fashion. -- No time to lose, I had another idea! You're all aware Knott's Berry Farm is getting Voyage to the Iron Reef next year, an interactive dark-ride by Triotech. I just love the visuals they made, and the basic idea behind the ride. But -Triotech admitted it themselves- the ride will basically be like a long giant screen and the vehicules won't do much. And this is bothering me, because you'll be seated and you'll play the game like if you were at home, in front of your PS4 or Kinect, only with bigger screens... I believe that a theme park experience should offer something you can't do anywhere else. I know money is the main reason parks can't go all crazy, and I don't blame KBF on that. But let's put the money and space requirements aside, and imagine what an ultimate version of Voyage to the Iron Reef would be... The main innovation here is the vehicles. Think of a suspended Kuka arm (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey), where you'll be lying forward on your tummy. That particular position is intended to mimic scuba divers, as that is what you are in the ride (everything occurs "underwater"). The lower part of your legs (below the knee) will be free, so you can mimic swimming if you want. The gun, because this is still an interactive ride, is fixed to the vehicle body. Theming would be along the lines of what we see on the logo: rusted brownish metal, steampunk-ish influences, etc. Here is my rendition of the vehicle (prior art): The brown thing next to the head is a shutter, preventing guests to see on the sides and up. It's actually somewhat like a Volare car in the loading position: Remove the grids, lower the peeps' arms to their chest, makes the seats confortable and you got it. The ride will have both screens for the game interactivity and dynamism, and physical sets because nothing beats physical sets. For the screens, those would be the same as in Harry Potter FJ, AKA the giant curved domes, where all your field of view is in the movie. And for the physical sets, I take my inspiration from I Corsari at Gardaland, were the underwater scene really blew my mind. So now imagine that, but with smooth and aerial motions... I haven't imagined a storyline, a ride progression, nor a station design, but that's it, my primeval concept of an ultimate Voyage to the Iron Reef!
  7. You're right, thanks for your reply. Here they are on Levi:
  8. What is this grey support?
  9. This is so satisfying to read! Thanks for posting!
  10. "with extra 0G section", that's the whole point and it changes everything. On El Locos or Euro-Fighters, you go from negatives to positives in one transition, more or less sudden. Here, you have three distinct phases: negative, zero and then positives.
  11. This shape wouldn't have been possible without trims. There would have been g-forces you don't want to experience (except if you liked that crazy chinese Screamin' Squirrel ). By the way, I made an analysis about that drop that I can copy/paste here, it might help to understand it better: At first I was like "WTF is this shape? It's weird and looks like a poorly-shaped and stretched NL drop!!". But then I get it. The transition between negative g and positive is not just like your average past 90° drop. I made a drawing (once again ^^) explaining how I think this drop is intended to be: - The trimmed plunge : Those are magnetic fins, so the train won't be able to stop like a dive-machine here. It will slowly get to 90°. - Past the 90° mark, the train will roll on it's own. The radius is still quite tight so the airtime will be massive! Heck yeah! - Now comes the most beautiful part : the zero-g free-fall. Look how it has a parabolic shape. That means you won't feel any g here, you'll float. But as you just had a masive airtime, you'll float at the edge of your seat! - Then the pull out, where the strong positive g forces will hit. The tunnel will make a darn good headchopper. So at first I wasn't pleased by this drop, but now I think it's a freaking masterpiece.
  12. As far as I read here and there, the projects for DLP in term of new rides are : - Toy Story Mania, 99% sure. Located in Toy Story Playland at the WDS. - Star Tour II, 99% sure. Well, where Star Tour is, in the main park. And now the most interesting bits: Either Soarin' (WDS or Adventureland) OR Indiana Jones Adventure 2.0 using a trackless technology. This is maybe... 30% sure? but about 100% more exciting than the other ones!
  13. From the webcam, it seems like Thundebird is complete! But as it rains, it's all blurry and I can't tell for sure. I tried to switch positions quickly, to shake the raindrops off but it doesn't work.
  14. I loved my ride on HRRR back in 2011. It's smooth enough (nothing unbearable), has quite an unusual and different layout, pops of air on each MCBR and some great drops. I remember the last helix to be surprisingly intense too. Though it's been a while, and since then I rode a load more of coaster.
  15. I heard it was 20% bigger, however I can't confirm that. But it is indeed a carbon-copy of Kanonen, except it's mirrored, bigger and for the lift/drop.
  16. Plus these photos were from 2012, it might have changed a bunch since then. Better wait some official announcement.
  17. Inspired by a ride simulation called Nova (I can't find it again on the Internet, sadly) and the cute , I imagined an extreme S&S flat-ride: the Swing Shot. Basically an upside-down Screamin' Swing, where the seats always face upward for the maximum airtime. Here it is, in the loading position. The arm is lowered, and the counterweight decoupled. Then the counterweight is lifted up by the two jacks and the ride is ready to go... A kaboom later, riders are send straight up in the air, experiencing a mind-blowing -1g airtime for several seconds. Then it goes back-and-forth for several massive airtime moments! At the end, the arm stops in the straight-up position, the counterweight is decoupled again and the seats slowly get back to earth. I don't want to spam with thread with pictures and everything, so I'll leave this link here with more pics.
  18. But this isn't a bad thing! Kanonen has a great layout but it's quite violent, especially in the s-turn... It's much smoother there, yet it lacks some airtime. Kanonen's loop is also my favorite small loop because of the massive hangtime - it seems to be the case here as well!
  19. Curse Of the DarKastle uses that as well and it's a Falcon's Treehouse' creation. Edit: And so does Ratatouille on the last screen.
  20. ^ Thanks for rewording my post: That was my point, yet discussing over futilities like this is the core of a passion.
  21. X-cars, Gerstlauer like Lynet, DDD or Anubis, etc. I don't find the trains pretty, but I think it will ride great! Cannibal is definitely a ride I'm waiting for.
  22. Not exactly an inline twist, not your typical zero-g roll either... Anyways I find this inversion very sexy!
  23. Hey, I enjoyed yours as well. Thanks for posting them!
