  1. Wow thank you very much for these footages! The speed is already perfect, that coatser looks both aerial and, my-oh-my, quite intense!
  2. According to singefrc (and I read it elsewhere, can't remember), it has no special conditions on who can apply (except being +18 because of the sexy curves of TC): By the way, I didn't know but SAG and AFTRA are acting unions. Basically, they don't want actors.
  3. Ha, I actually haven't watched any testing video of Oblivion because I wanted to keep the surprise forwhen I rode it. Anyways, the speed on Oblivion is, like on any B&M, perfect (read: not intense, though). So I'm not worried for Baron.
  4. Nope, actually here it's likely to be the opposite. Dive machine do their first test run without the stop at the top. Once it will be activated, it will be atad slower. A tad, tough, not that much, but it's unlikely to be faster then.
  5. This discussion is actually very exciting, and I'll try to contribute. Sorry in advance for my english. A first simplification you're all doing there that is misleading for understanding all of that, is considering that the heartline is perfectly centered on our body. It's not, because you either seat on the right or left seat (except if you're riding Thunderbolt at Luna Pak ). Which is why in a transition à la Maverick from right bank to left bank, you'll either feel airtime and laterals to the left on the left seat, or positive and laterals to the right on the right seat. Then for the difference between -1g on a camel back and -1g hanging upside-down, well I'd say it's due to our inner ear and our knowledge on which way is up, which way it's down that makes us feel those two in a different manner. It's the same thing as 1g lateral is painful on a wild-mouse (or at least noticeable), while it's not bothering in a heartline-roll. You do have 1g lateral when you're at 90°. But it's more natural, since it's toward the ground, than the laterals on a wild-mouse. Same things apply for very strong positives. I find them enjoying while being in a valley -I'd expect that- than where it's at the top of a tight loop where it feels very unnatural. As for the question of a sideway loop, AKA can we lean a track to 90° and feel only positives forces? No, no and no! No because the gravity is still there. And if your turn is flat, it's still pulling you down with a force of 1g. So you can have 5g horizontal thanks to the radius of the curve and the speed of the train, you'll still have 1g vertical. When you sum up the forces, it makes a square triangle where the resulting force is the hypotenuse -> It's angled! The only way to counter that is either to reduce the banking, so it's kinda like creating a lateral force that will counterbalance with the gravity, or you apply a vertical translation to your track that will follow a parabola.
  6. Nope, I already made the sum ; Smiler has 26 crossings, that makes 52 passes. Here is my source with a drawing (thanks to darKnight for counting!). So the 116 is just out of this world!
  7. Really insane indeed... The Smiler has "only" 52 of them! It's TWICE AS MUCH!
  8. Ok thanks! Amazing panorama pic from Phantafriends.de : Click for the full version. I'm already picturing short trains themed as dragons literally flying throught those mountains and ravines!
  9. Does "Katapult-Starts" mean the train will stop before the two launches, unlike Cheetah or Helix but more like Maverick?
  10. Wow, already people on it, that was fast. (*cough* Cannibal *cough*) Nice to see them in sync, too!
  11. ^ I think you just found out thanks to me (on a Youtube comment, right?), and I for myself read it here, thanks to Namttub a few posts earlier. I guess we have come full circle!
  12. I tried to do a loopy gif of Intimidator 305 out of the latest backrow POV posted on the channel: Not that bad. Put it to good use.
  13. Is that the same layout as Maceraperest, or a custom one?
  14. I think this is a zero-g hill and not a zero-g roll. Unless the previous rendering is not up to date? Anyways, thanks for all the infos and pictures MrRC!
  15. Yeah I thought the thread will be filled with reviews, POVs, pictures and many happy riders... but it's all about The Voyage's brake run.
  16. Flat-rides on european funfairs are pretty much always put in manual mode. Heck, once I saw an Afterburner running, and the only person in the cabin was a 11yo. He was driving it.
  17. That means faster than Helix, that means >100 km/h!
  18. Wow, the layout is uninspired... But the best part about that drawing is to see that Vekoma will uses off-track storage, just like B&M, Mack, and now Gertslauer with Karnan.
  19. Why Lagoon doesn't install dash cams in the front and last row?
  20. Thank you very much berryfarm for your post! It feels like the transformation started yesterday. That blue zero-g has quite an odd shape.
  21. Just brainstorming out loud here... Does a motion-simulator seat that goes from a sitting down position to a floorless stand-up position seems appealing, or is a no-no? Just assume that I have a technical solution for that (and I nearly do, at least I think that could work on a technical standpoint). And that would occurs without warning. The ride would be the following: You enter a StarTour-like motion simulator cabin. You take a seat, close your vest harness and begin the journey into space. The screen isn't the glass panel, but an IMAX dome further apart instead. Think of the Simpsons or Star Trek The Experience. And then, during your trip, you get hit by whatever and your spaceship explodes. Smoke, lights, heat, vibrations helps the transition... Because there, your cabin is literally blown up and you're launched into deep space, all on your own... You are now standing up, and nothing is in front of you anymore, only the giant screen (even if your where sitting in the third row of the cabin). Think of Soarin'. This video is basically how it would work. Watch it to get accustomed with the concept: My version would be on a smaller scale though. While horizontal, that's the cabin part. And the transition from horizontal to vertical is the explosion sequence, where I'd add the transition from sitting down to standing up that's I'm not sure about. I have yet to find a satisfying solution for the cabin's disparition, but basically it would open in half lengthwise and the two parts would rotate behind the floor. Remember, my version is way smaller than Dynamic Attractions'. Anyways, I know you might be thinking "what the heck he is talking about?", but all I want to know is if a motion-simulator seat that goes from a sitting down position to a floorless stand-up position seems a good idea or not.
  22. Oh that's not mine, should have specify that. It's actually a demo of the upcoming (...) Giroptic 360° camera, see : Giroptic Facebook page They said the video was made at least a year ago and since the quality has improved a lot. The Youtube beta player doesn't help, too.
  23. As those are surrounding the screen(s), I actually hope not!
  24. The park released a complete "POV" of JLBfM. Once again, if you don't want spoilers, don't watch... My opinion: I've got mixed feelings to be honest. All that grey/blue/green faded paint on the walls is atrocious. The physical sets are cool, albeit very minimalistic in their details (and those visible speakers...). Although I know it's not done, and lighting will play a major role on the final rendition. There are no über big curved screens like Spiderman, but the part from 0:29 to 0:33 will most likely be a motion-simulator part, aka when you are supposed to be in the screen and no more in a physical set looking through a window, for instance. I spotted a fan on the second screen, too. So I'm still very much looking toward it with exitement, but there is no way this will be on par with Spiderman, on an artistic and technical aspect. Maybe it'll be more fun though, as it is interactive.
  25. Oh yeah sure. What was I thinking again... Anyways, Baron looks great, and it's what that matters the most in this thread. Any idea on when the testing will begin?
