  1. Broken leg Bluejuice - great Aussie band
  2. I thought I said no more fires Elissa...at least what was damaged normally will not take too long to rebuild, with pre-formed frame work and todays construction methods. Main thing is no one was hurt.
  3. "Little Lion Man" Mumford and Sons.
  4. Let's just hope that when it is rebuilt, they use another means of heating the building apart from a replacement fire place. Might stop this from happening again? And I second the Bag-O-Crap idea for the lady who alerted Robb, maybe an invite to the next TPR event held in the new building when done also?
  5. Glad your ok Robb, but does seem strange about the fire system not working. Not sure how they work over there, but all the fire systems here have an seperate power supply and most of the sprinkler heads have some sort of mercury switch ( guessing) in front of the head to allow them to work once the heat builds up enough to trigger. For these not to work, then there must be no power to the pumps before the fire started, but that still does not explain the alarm part of the system not working. However, just glad that Elissa and Kidtums have Robb still in one piece....now Robb, go buy a LOTTO ticket!! EDIT: Just a thought. You guys mentioned that there seems to be a lot of smoke from parties and the like and it is a normal thing. I wonder if someone was able to turn the fire system off to stop the alarms from going off during these parties.....like I said, just a thought.
  6. Best Blob jump I have ever seen goes to the Nitro Circus crew, also wins best use of large crane equipement..
  7. That just goes to show you have far Oz is behind on the show....only just seen this about two weeks ago and waved it off as being Elissa. Guess I was wrong. Nice cursing out the rug though Elissa....very nice.
  8. Hey Gus, If your able to let me know what areas of Australia your planning to visit, I am more than happy to help you out with advice or ideas of where to visit during your stay. If your heading to the Gold Coast, then the big parks are all within 15-20mins of each other and there are a couple of other locations that are worth a visit as well in the area. There are a couple of other tourist attractions within an hour drive to the north of Brisbane including the croc hunters place as well as some more Aussie based tourist attractions. Like I said, if you need more info, please feel free to ask away. Cheers
  9. Thanks Elissa, don't think the height will be a problem as the are both now tall enough to ride all the coasters in Australia, just wanted to be on the safe side. The only tantrum they might throw is if they don't get enought turns....sort of take after me in that way...lol.
  10. Seems like we might finally make it on a TPR trip not in Australia. One small question guys, what do you consider the minimun age/height for someone to join the tour under adults supervision as we will most likely be bringing the two terrors on the tour as well. Hope to see you all in Australia first though.....(subtle nudge included)
  11. Hey all, I have been away for far too long....damn work! Australia is the top of the list for me, with the Road to Cedar Point second. With that much notice, we might even make it! It's true about our coasters not being that long, but what they lack in length, they make up for in speed and thrills. And even though we are a bit of a trip across the pond, it is one you will never regret. With 10 parks/attractions on the Gold Coast within 10miles of each other, once here, you will not have to go far for a bit of fun. For the animal lovers, Dreamworld has free roaming Kangaroo's, Kola's to hug and hold and a crocodile you won't want to hug at all...and for the brave there is allways the swimming with the sharks at Seaworld. Now all of that is just the Gold Coast area, so I have only just scrapped the top of the barrel with what fun you all could have by paying us a visit. Will keep the beer cold until you all get here. Cheers, Thunder001
  12. So 6pm your time should be 11am Thursday morning here in Australia...looks like i will be putting the iPhone through it's paces tomorrow morning then. It is looking more like i might get to go on one of the trips either next year or the year after. Would of course be easier if you bought the crew down under for one of the upcoming trips...but i can keep waiting. Update: Just tried the iPhone and the chat section works fine...incase anyone was wondering.
  13. As those of you that have been to Dreamworld know, within the park is the availability to charter a helicopter flight around the Gold Coast from the park. Today one of the chartered flights crashed in the car park of the park. The pilot was able to get clear of the cars and the chopper flipped onto it's side as it hit the ground. All people on board the chopper survived the crash... Here's the news link.... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/824013/helicopter-crashes-at-dreamworld-report Hats off to the pilot for a great job...
  14. This could well be the bush beast from Australia's Wonderland. The ride's first turn was out towards the front of the park closest to the highway, so you would not be able to see any buildings behind it. The first photo is the correct way for the ride to be facing, but the one thing wrong is the location of the sun, as it is in the south from that photo. EDIT: Ok, found the link for the couple that met on the "Grizzly" coaster. Should put an end to it....
  15. Just as long as they don't make her were the shirt if she can't eat it all Robb.....that would just be wrong.
  16. This rant is over the low life's that broke into our house on Tuesday last week and stole all of our new camera equipment, all the ipods in the house including the one that my 6yr owned ( hope they have fun listening to all the kids songs) dvds, some of my wifes jewerly and my $1000 mountain bike. God help them if i ever find them....there will be blood, oh yes...there will be blood.
  17. After doing a little searching around for news on the two new water parks being built at the Sunshine Coast, I found that Village Roadshow, owner of three of the four main parks on the Gold Coast now also owns two parks in the USA and is looking to expand more. There are quite a lot of links for these projecst but I will keep it down to a couple. http://news.smh.com.au/business/village-acquires-water-park-in-phoenix-20080709-3cdo.html http://www.villageroadshow.com.au/press_releases/pdf/WnW%20Aussie%20World%20DA%20220808.pdf Also there is a second company building a new water park on the Sunshine coast ready to open in the next two years.... http://www.ausleisure.com.au/default.asp?PageID=&ReleaseID=350&Display=True So if Robb and Elissa ever bring a tour to OZ, make sure you bring your swimmers and lots of sun screen.....any thoughts?
  18. Australia will be getting another water park, but on the Sunshine coast and not the Gold Coast.....oh wait, that has already been confirmed, and it's not one new park, but two. http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/article.php?aid=149 http://www.parkz.com.au/article/2008/08/22/210-Village-Roadshow-moves-forward-with-Sunshine-Coast-water-park-plans.html Dreamworld will be expanding their new water park ready to be opened for the 2009-2010 season. Plans are with local council at the moment. Movieworld.....plenty of rumors but nothing solid enough to post at this time. A new coaster attraction is rumored for Australian Zoo. This has been doing the rounds for the last two years and involves development of land opposite the park. A full "theme park" experience is also rumored for this area of land, but still in the design stages.
  19. Hate to bring this thread back to reality, but has anyone done a drive by the yard since the first pictures were taken?? Never know what you might find out...more track, different labels, or just the thing to push this thread another 60 pages....MISSING TRACK!! I still think it is going to be for a coaster.....just my thought.
  20. After having a read of some of the other threads and a bit of a re-think, I have a new idea on the entire X-Works question. X = 10.....as in 2010. Works = projects required for that year, therefor X-Works is the code for a "works" project that will be taking place in 2010. Just another idea added to the heap.
  21. WOW....now that took some reading, but have thought of a couple of points. As much as I want believe this to be the long awaited B&M coaster for Australia, I am not convinced. Gold Coast theme parks have a history of compact designs, which I have now read more time than I can recall in this thread, the parts lend themselves to. But all of the stickers I have seen on the coaster parts here in Oz have the weight in both pounds and kilos....not so in this case. Rob mentioned about the "X-Works" and no one figuring it out. It is a possibility that it refers to the customer organising transport, which due to the wiki link is something preferred by companies due to GST etc, which we have here in Oz.....damn it! It is also a possibility that it refers to the track being a new type or an Experimental track or design in some way. X is also the Roman numeral for 10....not sure how that works in but everything else has been said.... Could this be a coaster based on the "X-Men" movies....Wolverine's suit in the original comic did contain some nice traces of bright yellow. As I said before, I would love this to be for Australia, and could easily fit into either of the two big parks on the Gold Coast, and here is how. Dreamworld was the home to Big Brother Australia up until last year, and now has a large area of parkland at the rear of the park not being used, and that leads onto the area where the parks water area used to be. This allows for a whole lot of land that would be able to fit not only a new coaster, but other attractions as well. Movie World in the last couple of years has leaned towards the comic based rides. With Superman coaster and the Batwing space shot being the last major thrill rides (not counting the new stunt show) this could fit into the parks main design. There has also been a rumor floating around about a change in the parks walkways to open up some land behind the Scooby Doo coaster down to the front of the park for years, and a Wolverine coaster would suit it down to the ground. But after saying all of that.....I don't see it coming to Oz anytime soon.....but I will be still be checking the council meetings online to see if anything is lodged.
  22. After watching about half of this decided to count the flips, and got 108. But i was surprised that not one of the ppl on ride even looked like loosing their lunch. Nicely Done.
  23. Great pic's and thanks for the report, but I think that the park needs to fire their researchers over one small thing... Kookaburra's are native to Australia....not New Zealand. Come to think of it, they seem to have themed the park to both NZ and Oz items. Hmm...
  24. Gratz Diablo, I wasn't going to stay up till 11pm (delay screening in Oz) to watch the awards, but now have a reason to watch. Does this mean there will be a TR of the after party's soon???
  25. Well it does look like Sea World will be getting a new water coaster. Here is the link with all the info on that upcoming attraction. http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=3924 It looks like it is going to be a Mack water coaster, with the layout from the plans an exact copy of those from the Mack web site link. Can only hope for a nice long coaster sometime soon...
