  1. I hope not. Although I rarely attend concerts, it brings a lot of people to the park.
  2. Right now staff, cleanliness, and maintenance are what really need to be looked upon. The park has a wonderful maintenance team, its just they need to hire more workers so that repairs can be done quicker. Usually when RoS breaks down, one guy (I forget his name) comes to fix it. Maybe if more workers were available, the process would be quicker.
  3. ^Operation wise, yes. Two trains at all times, attractions rarely closed, and friendlier staff. Bathrooms were always filthy, but everything was surprisingly better with Six Flags. I love what Herschend is trying to do, but some issues need to be fixed at the end of the season.
  4. As a regular visitor and season pass holder, I can honestly say that I am very unhappy with operations. Unless I just have bad luck every time I visit the park, the place is dead. Half of the rides at any time are closed, either due to staff issues or maintenance. I was going to go for Fright Fest, but I sadly am not because the issues are getting worse. I will fully support the park in any bad situation, but this is really bad. The one thing that makes me angry, is that the park is letting people go on social media and put it down like that. It is giving the park a super bad reputation.
  5. It is definitely a perfect replacement for the Fright Night Field Trip. The lines for that were crazy. I can't wait to see how they pull this off.
  6. Hmmm... It seems like there is a new haunted attraction for Fright Fest this year called "Dark Waters". From the DL website: When darkness falls on Darien Lake park guests are greeted with a foreboding sense of doom. Dark Waters is the new Fall Event at Darien Lake. Dark Waters flagship experience, “The Child in the Lake” is the regions first amphibious haunted experience, telling the story over land and water. “The Child in the Lake” chronicles the fictional disappearance of Clarisse Whitham, a missing child cold-case from the 1980s. Guests will begin their experience as they accompany a documentary crew compiling clues about the mysterious event. They will then board a pontoon boat and head for the site where she was last seen. In addition, guests will have access to Dr DC East’s Haunted Boathouse, a separate experience but still ties into the story of the missing child. Ignite the Night presented by TOPS will kick off with a special daredevil performance from Master Illusionist Aaron Radatz as he attempts to escape from a straitjacket dangling 60’ in the air above Ignites burning lake of fire.
  7. I would say near the border of NY and PA. This way you're close to all of the PA and Ohio parks, Great Adventure, Darien Lake, Canada's Wonderland, and a few more.
  8. Here's my top 5: 1. Banshee 2. Falcon's Fury 3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train 4. Goliath/Iron Medusa (haven't decided which one I like better yet) 5. Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom I hope that Darien Lake announces the rumored Lake Monster soon, because I'm sure that it will be high in my top 5 if the rumors are true.
  9. ^Nope, it changes every year. Sometimes it is near spring, sometimes around now or in September, and a couple of times near Christmas. Last year, I remember hearing about Blast Off in September, and signs showed up around the park near Fright Fest. However, the year before Rowdy's Ridge was announced on the last day of March.
  10. ^To me it is. But I guess that every ride has to go sometime, I was just hoping that it could have lasted a little longer.
  11. Now that it's official, I would say that Rolling Thunder leaving Great Adventure is pretty shocking. Although it was rumored before, I never seen it coming but it happened.
  12. ^This is a tough one. I would say on a normal day yes, but this season is full of surprises. Don't count getting on the log flume because it is drained and seems to be closed for the season. Most flats are operating on a rotation system, meaning some rides are open in the morning, some in the night. It's all depending on crowds. If there is an event like a concert, crowds will be more packed, otherwise it should be a slower day. If you could tell me what flats you plan on hitting, I may be able to help a little more with time planning.
  13. At least the name is better than "Aqua Twist". I have never ridden one of these and hope to soon. They seem like a lot of fun.
  14. Sad to see Rolling Thunder go, but more excited for this new addition. With three towers, capacity will be better then Lex Luthor. I wonder if this ride will capture the speed record along with the height record.
  15. Exactly what I was thinking. This ride looks amazing and very intense.
  16. They were made early in the morning last year as well as this year. 4 A.M. Central time tomorrow. Thanks for clearing this up. I remember watching the announcement in the afternoon, but it must have came out earlier in the day.
  17. ^Last year I believe that the announcements were made in the afternoon, probably about 12-2 p.m. eastern time. I really don't see a huge addition coming like a coaster anytime soon. The park could be waiting for NTAG to reopen and the memory of the GP to fade off. SFOT really doesn't seem like a park for an Aqua Twist, but I could be wrong.
  18. I prefer Outlaw Run very slightly to El Toro. Both are amazing in the back seat. I also always liked The Predator at Darien Lake's first drop. Just that feeling of getting thrown over a cliff in a shopping cart gets me every time .
  19. I agree with you 100%. A nice Proslide complex would be a great addition. This could be great for thrill seekers and families. Add a 6 lane mat racing slide and some speed slides with trap doors and the whole family is satisfied. Even if Cuda wasn't suffering any problems, I still think that it is time for it to be retired, considering that it is 20 years old and Floodgate Falls hasn't been used for years. Even when it is open, if there is a long line, I will not ride it. It's sort of a been there, done that thing.
  20. Wow, this is a very large complex, but very fitting for the park. It makes me hope that more parks will get the "trap door" slides soon.
  21. Just to add to the list, Darien Lake also added a Flying Skooter ride in 2012. I personally like these rides, they brighten up a park, and serve as a ride that the whole family can enjoy.
  22. Seems like a nice addition for the park. I have never personally visited SFA, but I often hear bad things from this park. Hopefully this new area and the new height restrictions will brighten the future for the park.
  23. I have to agree that this was a bad season for the park, but things are slowly getting better. Take a look at RoS's red train. It just got all brand new wheels, padding, and other small things over the off season. This is probably what is going on with the blue train. I would rather have the ride run good with one train then crappy with two.
  24. Very nice additions. Sometimes even the little things like this can make a huge difference. Interesting to see that the Disko will include a Rockin Tug type car.
  25. My first roller coaster would have been the Silver Comet at Martin's Fantasy Island, but it broke down before I could get in line. So, my first "big coaster" ended up being the Viper @ Darien Lake.
