  1. Something is going on with Thunderbird. They took all the views off both webcams of Thunderbird today. I noticed they were doing some work up there the last two days. I think something is going on with flywheel/substation/generator. Hopefully a permanent fix to whatever was wrong with the setup last year. The ride ran off those generators almost the entire season. I'm sure they caused the ride to have more downtime than the park probably would have liked. Either with parts breaking on them, or the launch not getting enough juice and causing rollbacks.
  2. The Royals and Mets would both beg to differ. Lots of good homegrown talent for them as well. As would the Cardinals and Cubs.
  3. Your evidence is logic. Having long-term plans is a better logical way to run a business, rather than purchasing coasters on a whim, year to year. Let me ask you this. B&M has been known in the past to turn down some parks because they are simply too busy with other projects in those particular years. Why would Cedar Point run that risk, when they could just purchase a 3+ ride package deal years in advance, guaranteeing that "X" ride is installed in "Y" year? Not to mention I'm sure there's some sort of discount in doing so. Makes more business sense to me, I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Realistically, Cedar Point probably started planning Valravn around IAAPA 2014. B&M might have a certain amount of projects they can do in a year, but when Rob Decker picks up the phone and tells Walter Bolliger he needs a coaster for Cedar Point for a certain year, I'm sure B&M will figure out a way to do it regardless of the amount of projects B&M has on the slate for that year. Also, if you have seen ajfelice's posts before, you would know that he works in the industry and probably has a better idea about how this stuff works more than any of us do.
  4. Hate to double post but here's a bit of an update on The Legend. I took these screenshots from this video This turn looks like it will still provide some very strong lateral force. Remember that this turn was lowered. Anyone have any idea what those anti-rollback looking things are? I'm assuming they might be for the workers to walk on?
  5. From a terrain and layout standpoint, this is my attempt at a steel Voyage.
  6. The freedom train is going to be place where The Sparkler and Strike-U-Up ride was located according to the latest Holiblog. Also, pulled this quote from the latest Holiblog: "Another 70th Birthday project for this season will involve crowd-sourcing, so please be sure to tune in to next week’s podcast for all the details." http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2016/02/18/back-on-track/
  7. I didn't grab a screenshot of it, but we do finally have a trim on Mako (not that anybody should be surprised). It's on the airtime hill after the overbanked turn around.
  8. ^ I don't think they would have reprofiled the footers to hold a much heavier load if the track didn't have sand in it.
  9. The larger spine is spine is going to allow for less supports and allow RMC to probably do things that we don't typically see in hyper/giga coasters. I think the other thing that is going to differ it from other steel coasters is that the flat surface of the track is going to allow for the ride to remain smooth for a longer period of time. I don't have anything to back that last statement up other than it seems logical to me.
  10. Anybody have any good tips on how to make flags? I'm currently in the process of recreating The Legend Reborn at Holiday World with all the modifications GCI is making to the track (the double down and the banking being added to the last 4 turns) and I wanted to put the flags on top of the lift. I really have no experience with 3d modeling, so any tips would be helpful.
  11. ^ Local news media is definitely more reliable than CNN. As far CP is concerned, the local news media seems have several inside sources. Gatekeeper was leaked, as was Valravn (and that was before the park botched the VR app) to the local news media.
  12. Paula, is there anyway you guys might be able put the howling sound at the top of The Legend's lift up for download? I'm working on a Legend Reborn No Limits 2 recreation and would like to use the bell and howling sound bits in the video if you guys don't mind. Once I can see more of how the construction is going to go (mostly the double down at this point), it should be done. I also think it would be cool if you guys put the message (Is that the correct term?) that plays before you dispatch on The Voyage. "And now its time to sail away, your voyage begins without delay" That's always stuck with me for some reason. I can only imagine it's implanted in the brains of the ride-ops who've worked the ride over the years.
  13. Holiday World waited until April to remove Pilgrims Plunge, so it isn't that strange.
  14. ^ Morgan basically merged into Chance Rides, if I read correctly. Hence, why Lightning Run at KK looks like a Morgan coaster.
  15. Yeah 189 is kinda of a weird number anyway, so I'm gonna guess it was a typo.
  16. If you look at the photos. they pretty much have almost all the bents in place ready to go minus a few spots. They've also installed the anti-rollback on lift as well as the lift motor. It's not like "nothing" has been going on. From the looks of it, they're still waiting on the rest of the track to show up. 17. Give/shake/sway in the track is designed like that. Many B&Ms Hypers first drops give a little due to the forces. This is normal. Every wooden coaster has a give in it's structure. Hell, if you watch offride shots of Iron Rattler, there is still some sway in the structure. Not as profound as it was when it was Rattler, but it's still there. The sway/give in the structures of the RCCA coasters was way too much. It was criminal for them to design coasters like that. There's a reason no one other than them built coasters that tall with traditional wooden coaster track. The SOB design is one of the worst layouts I've ever seen on a woodie from a logical standpoint. Why in the world would you take some of the heaviest wooden coaster trains ever with fixed wheels, and design a double helix where at the bottom of the helix you're going 70+ mph, banking at 70+ degrees and pulling 4g's. How any engineer could look at that and think the track work would remain smooth for whole operating season is beyond me. It's amazing to me that PKI thought this was a good decision back in the day when parks these days won't even ask RMC (who has the proven technology to go 200+ feet with their topper track) to do it.
  18. Good, let's keep it that way. Did I just read that someone wanted a double down on a dive machine? And why couldn't you have a double down on a dive machine? Explain this to me. Because it's B&M and it wouldn't deliver any airtime whatsoever?
  19. Track is being installed. Looks like the exit out of the turn might have a little GCI airtime.
  20. I might be a bit biased on this one, but this would be the best ride in the park :
  21. And I think this is what GCI is trying to fix. I think there will still be laterals in those turns, but most definitely not as intense. When I heard that GCI was doing the refurb I actually had the thought that they might reprofile those last three turns to give them the famous GCI bam-bam airtime as they would seem to be prime candidates. I'm really interested to see how this turns out.
  22. Was doing a google image search to compare The Legend's modifications that GCI has made so far to see what it looked like when it was under construction and came across this thread. Really hope you might revive this project and maybe add Thunderbird! Would also to see you post it on the exchange. I didn't see there when I looked.
