  1. Stuff will really get real when commercials start popping up during Cardinal games lol
  2. ^ They don't use turnstiles on Raven and Legend anymore.
  3. ^ I think they have to be counting by the amount trains they dispatch in a day. The Raven got it's ACE landmark plaque this week and local TV station did a story on it and the park told them 405,000 people rode The Raven last year. Now unless whoever is running the control panel is physically counting the number of people that is on each train, I never seen anyone is the station keeping track. Now that could be possible. If you ever pay attention while standing in line for The Voyage, right before they dispatch the train, there is this thing on the wall that whoever is running the control panel will press what seems like a 1000 times before they dispatch the train or right after they dispatch the train. I've always wondered what they did that for, but the more I think about, that's probably what they use that for, which is to count the number of people on each train (Excuse me for my thinking out loud in this post lol). But to get back to the point, yes I'm pretty sure they count re-rides too.
  4. Almost all the wing coasters only have one transfer track. Gatekeeper has more than one, but I believe during daily operation, CP leaves one train sitting in the station and the other on the brake-run. I remember seeing someone post that awhile back. The only thing I can think of is B&M uses a harder polyurethane wheel on the wing riders which allows them to sit on the track for long periods of time.
  5. ^ The way the post was worded makes me believe it's overall. I know someone asked them what their attendance for last year was on FB and Paula responded by saying well over a million. For a family park, when you build a ride like TB I'd say only a certain % of the people attending are going to be able to ride due to height restrictions, ext. I bet the park is pretty happy with how fast they got to a million.
  6. Some cool Thunderbird stuff from the park's Facebook. First: Here's a 360 video of Thunderbird Second: According to the park, Thunderbird will launch it's millionth rider tomorrow!
  7. Thunderbird. I was expecting it to have at least some rattle this year given that it hauls ass (when compared to other wing riders) through the course, but it didn't.
  8. Not to be rude, but the KK thing was about the only thing I really assumed and that's because I didn't see their statement. That's my bad. This RMC Part Recall thing is practically being discussed across 3 or 4 threads and all I was trying to do was bring all the facts together as there seems to be some confusion to which RMC's should be closed.
  9. It's the cylinders in the trains on the new for 2016 rides. RMC developed new cylinders for the restraint system, which I'm assuming make them go up and down easier. Unless RMC updated all of their trains in operation, this recall should only be for this years rides, hence why all the older RMC's continue operation. They discovered the problem on Joker and have closed Wildfire and LR. I'm assuming Storm Chaser will close as well unless their trains were manufactured apart from these trains or KK opted to go with the old cylinders to cut costs.
  10. Might be faster. Wildfire's parts have to be shipped overseas, while LR's can probably be delivered within a day or two.
  11. THIS! If SF reacts then it's a win win for all of us. HW won't back down and will probably swing back with an even bigger punch. This could result in great unique world class rides for both parks for all of us to go ride....or SFStL can just get the 4D Free Fly, which looks like a great ride and would be unique to the region. Only problem is that it can easily be topped by a world class attraction that people will travel 3+ hours to ride, which HW has shown the capability of building over and over again.
  12. I'm pretty sure that's around the area where Lake Rudolph has been constructing a mini waterpark with some old slides they bought from HW. I could be wrong on that though, since I didn't go there last time I stayed at Lake Rudolph. Also someone's been lurking on this forum and asked what HW was doing behind Jungle Racer on FB and Paula responded confirming that it's Lake Rudolph's property.
  13. RMC track doesn't require them for inspection plus the way RMC designs their bents to support the track, it would probably just look awkward at some points on the ride.
  14. ^ Yeah that's Lake Rudolph property. Here's a link to the site where you can view the property lines in Spencer County and who owns that property: http://spencer.in.wthgis.com/
  15. ^ You're subjected to more forces on Lightning Rod, especially lots of extreme negative forces, which is why it's a tighter fit than Wild Eagle.
  16. Depends where that "clearing" is. Jungle Racers is pretty close to the campground property line so that may not be HW. Yes it's smooth, but what makes it better for so many people is that they're not going to crack a rib due to those old flat turns anymore. Quite a few enthusiasts just don't like them. They also added airtime to those turns now which is part of the reason I like it better, plus it just feels a lot faster than it used to.
  17. ^ Well I think my solution would definitely qualify as a big project. That's 6000 feet of topper track we're talking about and it would essentially be the same thing as an I-Box conversion project, as they would probably have to replace all the ledgers and make modifications to the structure.
  18. ^ We're still early in the season. Voyage is notorious for not running very well when it gets to the middle/late July. Don't get me wrong, HW has done a very good job the last few years of getting the ride running great at the beginning of the year. He was talking about a more long term solution that keeps the ride running great all year. Personally, I just can't see GCI touching Voyage. I think it's just a tad bit out of their comfort zone. I keep saying this, but Voyage means a lot to the park. Will Koch is listed as one of the designers and think they want to keep the layout as original as possible. I think all signs eventually point to RMC. Voyage is one of those special cases where I don't they can't I-box it because there is no way to modify the layout to shorten it (which would have to happen with the nylon/polyurethane wheels?). I think it has to have topper track and it's gonna need steel wheels. If this is possible, I think the best solution is to convert it to a topper track woodie with new RMC trains using steel wheels. I also think they'll have to modify the airtime hills to make them more extreme due to the fact that RMC trains are more restrictive than PTC's (which the ride was designed to run with), therefore the airtime won't be the same if it's just the same layout. This would allow the park to keep it as a wooden coaster, which seems to be very important to them and it will also keep it running great for a long time.
  19. A turn in the right direction? I don't know what you're smoking, but I think it's time to find a new dealer.
  20. There really wasn't a whole lot of modifications GCI could have made. They were really constricted by the tight space the ride is in. This wasn't like The Legend where they could come in and pour brand new foundations to rebuild the structure and shape the track their way.
  21. Unless its a much needed family coaster. They could really use something like Firechaser Express or Powder Keg. I don't think they would hype that up as much as a big coaster.
  22. That IPE wood GCI is using on the top two layers is more dense so it supposed to be able hold up a lot better than the traditional southern yellow pine. I imagine now though that when GR closes for maintenance work, it'll be down longer than used to be as that IPE wood takes longer to install.
  23. So with this being CP, I'm assuming (if this happens of course) that they'll want the MCBR to stay on Mean Streak so they can run three trains and maximize the capacity.
  24. They had a few problems last season when using the backup generators with either parts going out or them not giving the launch enough juice causing a rollback. I think it was only down one full day last year and I believe that was in early May. There were a couple of days it was down almost all day, but they got it open for the final few hours. They're using the flywheels this year and I don't think the ride has been down all year other than a few minor things that have been fixed relatively quickly. If you listen to the parks podcast, you know that Thunderbird hasn't had a single rollback so far this year. As far as I know, Thunderbird always operates with both trains. With all that considered, as the previous poster stated, it's on par with all other B&M coasters in terms of reliability.
  25. So I was snooping around Screamscape and somehow I think this went unnoticed by a lot of people..I know I missed it lol Of course this is Screamscape, so take it with a grain of salt. If it were a huge addition, I think the teasing would have already started by this time. For those of you who want to see a side by side POV of old Legend and new Legend, here ya go! Even if the first video starts before the second, notice how the new pov hits the break-run faster than the old POV. http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D_mNg3Jceg54&start1=43&video2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9spcFTH0LeQ&start2=13&authorName=
