  1. The Firecracker teaser wasn't even released until Nov. 30 last year and official ride name and details weren't released until the first week of January 2017. So I'd say we could have 3-4 more months to wait if it's close to the same scale of ride. If it's bigger, it may come sooner. (Mayflower was announced at the end of October for 2014.) They really like to draw these things out. It depends on the magnitude of the ride. If it was something they thought was going to drive season pass sales, they would have announced it already. To me, it seems like the park is still paying off Thunderbird. The Capital they are spending seems to be going all to infrastructure improvements. I believe they're obligated to get the rest of Legend Lot paved or concreted over the next few years and that's not very cheap, especially considering how big that parking lot has become.
  2. The park didn't do anything to make the ride look faster. Almost every new coaster always looks faster in the initial test runs. This is due to the fact the train usually runs with a harder set of wheels to reduce the friction to lessen the chance of the train not completing the course. They also usually turn off the any trims that might be present as well. Once they switch over to the softer wheels and turn the trims on (if there is any), the ride will then start to run at the speed is was designed to run at it, which is probably what happened in the video you saw.
  3. I live in the area that had one of the longest 100% totality times and it was crazy stupid how many people were here. I met people from six different countries over the last two days (which is very rare for where I'm from). Ozzy Osbourne even had a concert here. While it was really cool to witness, it's not something that I would travel halfway across the world, let alone several states to witness.
  4. Sure, that's possible. We really don't know, and obviously they would've had 2017 plans already made before Valravn opened. But as for the future, I don't see more B&M dive coasters in the chain. That ride has issues. What issues does Valravn have? I know that the CP thread has been full of SV talk for over a year now, but I feel like these issues would have been talked about if they were that serious. Given the footprint this ride is going in, it seems to make more sense to go with someone else other than B&M given how drawn out their layouts are. Also, this is just pure speculation, but given the rumors that Magic Mountain is going to be replacing Viper with a B&M dive machine, it also makes more sense to go with a ride that is going to look and feel completely different.
  5. watching the video i don't doubt it at all. I counted 24 spots where there should be airtime. Add up the crazy amount of sustained airtime you're going to get on the first two big hills, you've got the record. Also, anything that is a negative force gets counted, so you have to factor in all the inversions.
  6. ^ No they're all local. However, they do have an employee bussing system thay goes around and picks up all the kids in the surrounding towns if they don't have a ride to work.
  7. ^ Probably going to be another year of a smaller ride and more infrastructure improvements. With the amount of infrastructure improvements they've been making, it seems like they're gearing up for another expansion in 2019 or 2020.
  8. Everyone thinks that the launch is the problem, technically speaking, the launch works fine. What the launch did cause was that RMC had to redesign the whole bottom portion of their train to accommodate the fins of the launch. This forced them to have move sensors, drive tires and anything else that came into contact with the bottom of the train. The issue seems to be the trains, which is why they're still only using one train and both trains seemed to had disappeared when LR had it's extended downtime earlier this season. I also don't think it's a coincidence that RMC is rolling out a brand new design of trains for all their new rides next year.
  9. The brake-run has a downward slant, so I say the train will roll right through. The ride should be designed to complete the course if the train comes to a complete stop. We'll see if that's initially the case though since many of RMC's conversions have a Heckle and Jyde effect during their first season. Its mostly likely due to the fact that they have 6 other projects they have to complete and this is their most important project they've ever took on as a company. They need to complete it early so they can move their crew to the next project, but more importunely, they need plenty of time to test and workout the kinks. They have to deliver for Cedar Point. This can't be Lightning Rod all over again. Somehow Cedar Point has barely said a word about this project and its probably the most hyped up attraction they've ever built.
  10. Yeah Saturdays at HW are just a bad idea in general during July/August. Its going packed every where. It doesn't matter if you do the waterpark or not. The year Thunderbird opened, I remember seeing pics of cars parking on the side of the highway because they apparently ran out of parking space. Coming in on a two-lane highway, traffic can get pretty backed up as well.

  12. ^ The turn out of the station, the turn after the lift into the drop, the inversion, the valley turn after the inversion, the overbanked turn, ext. The Timberliners can turn on a tighter radius than almost every wooden roller coaster train out there and TGG designs their rides to take advantage of this.
  13. Here's the thing though, if it wasn't for the Timberliners, the ride couldn't do half the things it does. This is just a thought, but I wonder if it's the track work. I know that sounds crazy with it being brand new, but that's the difference between GCI and TGG. GCI has their own team that goes around does all of their track work, as where with TGG, they do the design work, and the park hires all of the workers to build the ride. So there's a pretty good chance the track was built by a crew who has never built or rebuilt coaster track before. You can probably feel those differences, as the traditional wooden coaster track has to be cut and built to precision on site and with a crew who doesn't have any experience, there's a lot more room for error. GCI's team has been doing it for years and have it down to an exact science.

  15. ^ Mammoth is by far the most the popular ride with HW's guests. So a 40 min wait is usually common on a normal day. They also don't force their guests to ride with other people if they don't want to. Sometimes not filling the raft up all the way also has to do with the weight limit each boat has. I beleive the weight limit for guests is 1050 lbs.
  16. ^ If you ever get back to the park, try the back left wing. That has some of the coolest/unique lateral forces I've ever expierenced on that zero-g roll.
  17. ^ I considered that in house because 1: They designed the ride. 2: The work would be done in-house by Holiday World anyways.
  18. Voyage absolutely does not need the millennium flyer trains. They do not guarantee an improvement to a wooden roller coaster. Take it from Gwazi. If you mean RMC coming in to retrack the coaster, then I'm totally fine with it too. But if you mean A complete topper track overhaul, then I'm not so on board with that. The ride experience will likely change drastically and require a huge amount of reprofiling to accommodate the new trains. You'd be looking at an entirely new roller coaster by then. This is my perspective. I really don't think GCI would have a single clue what to do with a ride as big and as long as The Voyage. If they did get their hands on it and did a Ghostrider re-furb, I think it would be neutered more than it is now. So if they're going to do a overhaul of the ride, and it isn't done in house, I would rather them give it to RMC. At least that way, we still get some crazy intense ride. I mean don't get me wrong, I rather The Voyage stay as is, but the prospective of an RMC makeover is very intriguing to me to say the least.
  19. ^^ Please keep GCI as far away from The Voyage as possible. For me, it's either RMC or nothing. ^ The park never gave a reason to why they decided to not use them. This is just my opinion, but I think there are a couple of reasons why. 1. The Gravity Group took too long in delivering the promised product. The park allowed The Gravity Group to test their product on the park's ride at the park's expense for about four years and the park got nothing out of it except a train that didn't deliver (they still have that train btw) and a whole bunch of extra track maintenance. 2. Those trains wouldn't have delivered a better ride experience unless the park did a complete retrack. The main reasons they decided to purchase the trains was to deliver a smoother ride and reduce track maintenance. Anyone who rode Hades 360 in it's first year will tell you that ride didn't become smoother. I can't speak for the reduced track maintenance. Ultimately, I think the park decided that they could deliver the best ride experience by continuing to maintain the ride the way they have been, while making a couple modifications (taking the 7th car off the train and using the MCBR as a trim) to reduce the maintenance and make the ride more enjoyable for their guests. I really don't think the park wants to add another wooden coaster at the moment, but I would like to see them build one of those smaller Gravity Group wooden coasters (ex. Wooden Warrior) and use the train they have so they can get a roller coaster that has a 42" requirement, which is something they really lack being a family park.
  20. They've done a lot of work on the second half of the ride the last few years. I will also say this, visiting in May/June, you're almost guaranteed to get a much better ride on Voyage than in July/August.
  21. ^ You can get in by your smartphone. Either have the page pulled up with the bar code or take a screenshot of it and they'll be able to scan it right off your phone. Enjoy your visit! They also have Apple Pay and Android Pay for those who use that.
  22. Today was actually a very lovely day to visit the park up until about 4:30ish when everything went down for lightning/storms. I don't think I've ever been on a day when it was 85 plus and Mammoth was a walk-on for like first 2 hours the waterpark was open. Lines were short on practically everything. The Voyage was running fantastic early and the trim was barely grabbing at all. I didn't get to ride in the evening to see if it was grabbing harder after it warmed up. For me, Legend 2.0 is definitely a front seat ride now. I know much was made the work that GCI did on the back half that tamed the laterals from the previous design, but my god, that ride still has enough stupid crazy laterals to make up for it. We left before the park closed, but I'm assuming nothing ever got to open back up since there were severe storms throughout the whole area. Me and my group of friends sat around The Voyage for like 45 mins watching the radar on our phones and Santa Claus was surrounded with developing storms, but all of them were going around the town. Don't get me wrong, I understand why the park had to shutdown rides with lightning near by, but rides were literally down for an hour before it even rained.
  23. ^ Only on Mammoth and Wildebeest. The single rider line for both rides is where the extended queue begins, which is usually where the line begins unless they're super busy, then the line extends out past that point and you'll have to wait till the line gets there.
