  1. ^ It's more like a transfer step. Holiday World had it available to their guests this past season. Here's a picture from the one on The Raven. Hopefully that gives you a better idea of how it works.
  2. ^ It looks like they're core drilling the footings.
  3. Saw an interview with GCI from IAAPA on another site. Adam House, the lead designer at GCI said that 50% of Ghostrider is receiving a complete re-track, while other 50% is going to be re-profiled to allow the ride to remain smooth over a long period of time. He said that this refurbishment is not like recent refurbishments (Gwazi, ext.) and guaranteed that Ghostrider would be a top 10 ride again.
  4. So the park has started posting some 2016 info on their website in regards to e-ticket prices and the 2016 park schedule. I'm pretty sure all the e-ticket prices have dropped by at least a dollar for next season. I believe a fully operational day this past season was $39.99. In 2016, it's going to be $38.99. Another change I noticed is that they won't be staying open until 9 p.m. Sunday-Friday until the middle of June next year. This past season, that started on the first day of June. They also won't be doing that weird thing where they end daily operation mid-week the second week of August next year. Just some minor stuff I noticed. Here's the link to the 2016 calendar: http://www.holidayworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2016-Holiday-World-and-Splashin-Safari-Schedule.pdf
  5. I saw that PTC had an announcement scheduled for tomorrow and TPR just tweeted that they'll be unveiling a new train tomorrow. I'm interested to see what it is. They've basically have been taken out of the market for selling new trains to put on new coasters. Perhaps they're thinking they can sell a new modern design promised to reduce maintenance on coasters that are already using their trains.
  6. ^ And now Screamscape is reporting the same thing. Take that for what it's worth.
  7. ^ That's exactly what they were trying to propose at this time last year. There is nothing else on the matter after this, so I'm assuming the park got what they wanted. http://www.townofsantaclaus.com/joomla/index.php/2013-02-06-00-11-46/2013-07-25-13-21-14/2014/310-november-24-2014
  8. The parking lots will get paved. I believe they're under an ordinance from town of Santa Claus to have them paved in the next several years.
  9. So the park is starting to talk a bit about 2016... Kind of intriguing. Nobody has really talked about the survey they sent out a couple months ago. There was a question on there about them possibly adding a new event in the future. Perhaps a Thanksgiving event....maybe even Christmas. There was handful of others, but those were two that stuck out to me. Should be interesting to see what they have in store for the future.
  10. Mammoth at Holiday World in 2012-2 hours and 15 mins. By the time we got halfway through, it was so congested that it was nearly impossible to leave the line even if you wanted to.
  11. Oh wow, this really is a bit of a awkward situation for the park. You want to share it, but you can't. Now local news stations across the country are wanting to share it. It's almost like the Avicii video HW is in...It's probably their most viewed cameo appearance, but they can't share it because the footage in the video is illegal. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, here is the video. (watch it all the way through) Thanks for the insight/help!
  12. So I was looking through the website getting ready to purchase my ticket for Happy Halloween Weekends and I came across the animation of what the corn maze design is going to be this year. Can't wait to see the pictures of this thing from up in the air! Speaking of Happy Halloween Weekends, I'm going on October 10th. For those who have been, has it been crowded? I know when they first started the event, they only advertised it at a local level, but I have a feeling that like most things HW does, it has probably turned out more successful than they probably ever anticipated. I know it will be even harder to predict this year with Thunderbird, but I'm just trying to get a general idea of what the crowds will be like. Unfortunately, this the one time of year that I've always wanted to visit, but due to one thing or another, I've not been able to yet. After seeing all the pictures of Thunderbird under construction last fall, I've made it a top priority to get to the park in October this year. Any help would be appreciated!
  13. The Hotgo Park in Fusion China is getting a B&M wing coaster.
  14. Anybody else get an email from the park to fill out a survey? I believe if you purchased a ticket online (which I did), you should have gotten one.
  15. If the park ever decides to add a second entrance, it will be whenever they build another parking lot across the road from their employee parking lot. That's about the only way they could realistically add one, imo. But that won't be for a while, as they still have to get all of The Legend Lot paved and they're not done adding to The Legend Lot either. Yes, that thing can and will get bigger. I know the park and the campground aren't owned by the same people, but I think it could also be feasible for them to work together to build an entrance to the park for those staying in the campground, as the properties are right next to each other. Here's the site where you can view how much land HW's owns. It's listed under Koch Development Corporation. Just scroll around and look for the park. If you zoom in, it will go to a google maps view. It's not hard to find: http://spencer.in.wthgis.com/
  16. ^^ They have a history of announcing new attractions in what would be considered an off-year in mid to late October.
  17. I think some of us forget how small Holiday World is when we think of it as just a single park. When we think of Holiday World and Splashin' Safari as one, it becomes this park that can compete with regional sized parks. The problem is that they're not one park together, they're two separate parks that have different operating schedules. It just so happens that you get two parks for one price (even though I know that the cost of both parks is worked into the admission price for HW). When you think about it, HW only has 4 main attractions. 2 of which pull major lines consistently, which is Thunderbird and The Voyage. SS only has two (which I think that an argument could be made for Zoombabwe as well) and you guessed it, they are Wildebeest and Mammoth. Wildebeest and Mammoth consistently pull the longest lines from open until close. If they left the queues open from open to close when the park is moderately busy to extremely busy, they would still have a 45 min to hour and half wait time at close. Thunderbird is the same story and so is The Voyage if the park is busy. I see a lot of people talking about how this doesn't happen at Six Flags/Cedar Fair. Well, when you have 8-10 roller coasters to disperse the crowds amongst, it becomes easier to keep all the rides queues open until close. Of course, I haven't even brought up the fact that the park seems to have had some capacity issues this year. I don't see this policy changing for awhile, at least until they add more capacity and are able to offset some of the long line issues they have.
  18. ^ Yeah I learned that earlier this summer when HW was training new operators on Thunderbird and me and my group of friends were able to ride multiple times because there was nobody in line. I also learned that there is a switch on the back of each car on both sides that will reset (is that the right term?) the restraints if they don't want to lock when lowered. Having experienced both, I actually like the new restraints. While they do seem to tighten during the course of the ride, I never noticed it until I was sitting on the brake run. I'll take the tight feeling I experienced on the break run over head banging any day.
  19. The Legend is not getting RMC'd. I just went back through some posts on the parks FB and seems the park was having some major issues with all the coasters last week. The Legend has closed early the past few seasons to get a start on off-season maintenance. This usually doesn't happen until October so I'm guessing by the time they get whatever is wrong with it fixed, it'll be time for ride to close for the season.
  20. ^ Okay, thanks for the info. I've never seen a business/school actually cover these types of drills on social media before. It seems like a really good idea to do that so everyone knows that you're prepared when a emergency happens, which gives them another reason to feel safer at the park when they visit.
  21. Did anyone see the live tweeting HW was doing during a emergency drill today? They actually went all out with a worst-case scenario emergency where a storm actually hits the park and leaves behind some damage. I wonder if this had anything to do with the tornado scare they had earlier this summer? Here are some pics the park posted: They actually used real people with blood and gore make-up lol They even brought in a life flight helicopter and search and rescue crews. Here's the link to the parks Twitter account. Go through and check out some of their tweets from the emergency drill. It was actually kind of interesting.
  22. ^ He works at the park and the park was closed to the public.
  23. On a pumpkin beer kick these last few days. Guess I'm ready for it to finally be fall. This one was rather good at 10% alcohol volume.
  24. Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale
