  1. well, that sucks, for me. lol i went last monday and it was a zoo. was thinking about trying tomorrow.
  2. for me, it's hands down line jumping. since SFMM is my home park, i've just gotten used to it. they are so short staffed, even if they cared to enforce it, they'd miss most of it anyway. so while annoying, i just laugh at it now when it happens.
  3. Apocalypse and Green Lantern both feel like you got the one two punch.
  4. 1 train operation to end the night on TC. woo hoo! also noticed earlier that Apocalypse swapped the square wheels to triangular wheels.
  5. Twisted Colossus, 2 train operation today. [emoji20]. or at least right now batman 1 train full que to fountain. awesome!
  6. i don't know how you even begin to think a structure can't withstand X amount of G force when you don't even know what it's going to do.
  7. Even though Ghostrider runs more cycles than any woodie in the country, I'm sure that Knott's will continue to maintain it. They didn't spend all that money on new trains and re-tracking just to have it deteriorate in a few years. The switch to MF trains, along with the re-profiling of certain areas and the use of Brazilian Hardwood, should keep GhostRider running smooth for many years to come. Does it really rub more cycles than any other wooden coaster in the country? That's pretty interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk i think it's assumed because Knott's is open year round. but i'd only believe it if i saw some true statistics. i'd think there's gotta be some wood coasters out there that run more cycles total in the year.
  8. there's one per seat. i'd guess that's how the ghostrider line was most of the day. during the off season, it's really dead.
  9. 3 trains on scream? do any of the coasters at all still have 3 trains besides TC? that's one of the most frustrating things about mm, the lack of ability to even try to run their coasters at capacity.
  10. Sheesh, OJ's police chase was the same way. Why can't LA get the good stuff? we've gotten some good ones last couple weeks. the one that ended in long beach with the guy driving ramming into another car getting ejected to his death. another one where the dude finally stopped and crossed the freeway, then acted like he was going to jump off the freeway to the street below. oh yeah, and the stolen big rig the week before.
  11. All the dates and days only match up to 1983. Just go back to any calendar and you'll see they all only match to 1983. Also just noticed that it says on the top of the map. Camp Snoopy opening July 1st.
  12. what's throwing me off is the games we played in the contest. two of them, were released in 1982. i'm seeing sat june 18th as 1983.
  13. found this park map randomly while cleaning some stuff up in my closet. i don't know what year it was from. any guesses? it would have to be at least 1982. i went there for that video game challenge. 3 Williams electronics games, i think it was like 30 seconds each game and they added up the scores. Joust, Stargate and Bubbles. I thought i was going to go there and marathon play Joust, then found out it was just 30 seconds each game. I was in 1st place for a while, and ended up in 4th place. i forget what else i won but one of the prizes was a 2-3" black and white portable TV! hahaha
  14. when i think about south LA, and the 91 west, that's only a short stretch of freeway. basically west of knott's. no idea where it's going from me if that's where it was taken.
  15. maybe they'll challenge themselves and have extra staff. i'm always impressed with how much cedar point gets done over the winter.
  16. i saw another picture, from a different angle. so i'm more on the side of it being real now. i'll tell you, if i was the one there, i'd be taking a bunch of pictures so there would be no debate. lol
  17. during the WCB Q&A they said xcelerator would be down in the coming week to replace the cable. i was thinking, but cedar point changes dragster's cable overnight.
  18. ^^^great find! i used to love those america's greatest rollercoaster thills videos. i had them on laser disc too! haha
  19. cool, i'm on your xcelerator pics. great report!
  20. i haven't even ridden all the coasters at my home park magic mountain. i only rode one kiddie coaster when my niece was small. lol
  21. the heat is what keeps me away so much from there. it was so nice just a few days ago, too.
  22. i totally missed that the other day when i looked on the website. glad it's not long. i want to hit ghostrider during the dead weekdays.
  23. Correct. All three of the Arrow triplets (Shockwave, GASM and Viper) were built without the cross ties on the tops of the loops. The tops were all replaced after a few years (1993 or 1994 as I recall) with the additional bracing due to structural fatigue. SFGAdv put one of the old pieces in the wildlife partk for the animals to play on. See the TPR thread here and scroll down about half way for the pics: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55756&start=580 here's some screen caps from a video "1990 Six Flags Magic Mountain Viper Commercial" on youtube. [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/aCJdyjlQvPE[/youtu_be] the cross ties that a friend said weren't do indeed look like they were not there in the very beginning of the commercial. there's the differences. pretty interesting.
