I don't think the stall on Goliath at SFGAm is quite 100' in the air, but it is up there (maybe 80'?), and it's massive, and it's one of my favorite coaster elements of all time. mine as well. i like that Goliath has nothing underneath. TC's is great in the 1 in 50 chance there is another train underneath you. -
Okay so officially Winter is Dec 21, 2017 - March 20, 2018 Park has limited hours. Park has some attractions closed for both seasonal and some sort of re-hab. So those guests must be filtered to other attractions. Weather comes into play and being the desert it could be 36 degrees to about 85 degrees. Lots of bring a friend free days most seem to be on Sundays. Fun time for all. This coming week March 27/31st should be a ghost town as only open until 6pm but i think they are offering BAFF days so dbl check. but isn't it spring break? i figured it would be more like normal summer days this week.

i know when i watched TC being built, they left all kinds of loose ends. then trimmed and added supports after. so, i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of that structure gets trimmed down. -

that's what i was guessing as well. -
Agreed, it almost always has three trains running and the ops that work it are very good. Don't let a long line deter you from riding TC, the line moves consistently and fairly quick. It almost feels like Magic Mountain borrowed some ride operators from Cedar Point just to run Twisted Colossus. they are great for magic mountain, but not cedar point like. lol

does knott's have a noise issue with height they need to be concerned with? i always assumed that's why they added the tunnel thing on ghostrider. although, any new coaster in that boardwalk area i guess is kinda on the side where maybe it doesn't matter with xcelerator there. maybe it's okay to have a big drop pointed north? i was always curious about that hood they put on ghostrider. that drop is pointed to the closest residences. i know you can still hear knotts pretty good to the east where my friends house is on the other side of the parking lot. anyway, i hope they install a small airtime machine.

i hope to get back to CP soon. no matter what, i'll be there asap when mean streak reopens. i remember a guy on Magnum at Coastermania like 20 years ago who used a strap to keep the lap bar from falling down. he'd strap from the grab bar to the lap bar. -

I use Waze and, to a lesser extent, Google Maps (mostly bc it integrates with my car's Android Auto setup) all the time. Waze is typically the best and most up-to-date since it uses social components to determine routes, plus the "Police Spotted Up Ahead" feature is clutch when driving on the interstate. However, when I'm somewhere I've never been before, particularly near larger cities, I always like to check with locals and people that know because just because a route is the shortest according to Waze or Google Maps doesn't mean it is the best. Last time I was in Boston, my Google Maps took me all over the place leaving the airport, because it wasn't accounting for recent (as in that day or week) road closures due to construction. I ended up across the river in the sketchy shipping district at like 11:30 at night and eventually just called the hotel and asked how to get there ha. Same thing as going on Trip Advisor or Yelp looking for the best restaurants in the area. It's a good start, but I still find that asking locals (like the hotel front desk person) is the best way to go. Locals almost always know best! if i can, which is easy, for a coaster trip, i always check the routes beforehand. i don't use waze anymore. waze in Los Angeles will put you in some real bad parts of town to save 30 seconds. for the most part though, i use google maps, and sometimes apple maps. as far as souvenirs, i like pins and keychains mostly cause they are small. i'm a picky t-shirt guy, fit and what's on it. i do like the polo shirts cedar fair has for some of their new coasters. i've got a banshee and gatekeeper. if fury325 is on sale like i've seen in a video when i get there, i'll have that too. -

Thanks - that was me. Also, I followed ALL rules that we were given to us about photo taking on the tour. A long zoom and a bit of cropping are what got this done - taken from the same spot pretty much everyone else was taking pics from... Anyway - I am soooooo excited to see this transformation and I find all this speculation fun! awesome shot! also, awesome calendar too. February is a great shot. -

From the new photo, I bet you're right. The new one clearly shows a normal, unranked drop off the other side of the crazy climb into the turn. I must admit it makes it look much less extreme than the curved outward making drop that we thought was there before. . . Oh well, it will still deliver!! i'm more excited for this. i'm a straight drop fan. plus, it looks like it goes all the way down to the ground. -

the picture i saw just looks like it's an awesome airtime hill. track didn't looked banked at all. but angles change perspective, so who knows. -

i could only imagine the markup for one of those. -
I had no idea they finally got Webcams at Knott's. That's pretty awesome since they're open daily all year. Now I'll be way less productive at the office. Thanks Knott's! It's pretty awesome! On weekdays, you can see how much of a ghost town (no pun intended) the park is! I'm likely heading to the park this weekend and will try to get some more photos of Monte's re-paint. Haven't seen any updates in a few days other than what's visible on the webcams, which isn't much. yeah, i love that they got those webcams now. now i can decide to drive the 4 miles there or not from home. haha

I believe you're mentioning "Raging Bull"? Damn right he is. I'll back it up and spell it out. Raging Bull's first drop is better than Goliath's (and most other coasters). definitely two of my favorite first drops. they're about equal for me in enjoyment. -

Magnum was my favorite ride when I visited 20 years ago. Hadn't gone to CP for almost that amount of time. finally got back in 2013 and 2014. i still liked it a lot. i probably need to ride more next time but the other big 3 take precedence.
