Energylandia Park Discussion Thread
KarlaKoaster replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the brakes are just there so they can run more boats, then if a one doesn't clear the splashdown area, the next boat can be stopped (a bit like a conveyor at the top of a drop on a log flume would). I guess Energylandia doesn't need such capacity. On Divertical if boats were stopped on the brakes they would sometimes get stuck. Miribilandia actually added a winch to one of the supports to help move them because of this. -

This is huge news and I'm not sure how to react. -

Yep, you can see the block brake on Divertical at 2:19 on this video: -
Gardaland Discussion Thread

Glad to see another poorly executed VR being removed (although I am still not sure the official reason it vanished from Kraken?). I think we'll see a few more systems being removed in the next few years once they stop working or need money spent on them. Europa Park seems to be the only park I know of that have really got a grasp on how to utilise VR - the dual station on Can Can Coaster is the perfect solution if parks really insist on using it. I don't understand either -
[token 'it looks really slow/fast' comment that testing videos always get] Seriously though I am really looking forward to this, I love how it threads its way through all the existing coasters, it should offer so many great fly-bys whether you're on Icon or any of the coasters it interacts with. I hope they don't put nets under this section.

Here's an update on the Slide Wheel via Wiegand's Instagram. It is complete and already testing. I think when Wiegand asked what colour Chimelong wanted, their response was 'all of them'. Also they have sold another three: Reda Waterpark, Poland Nantong Waterpark, China Jinzhong Waterpark, China I would love to see a full, unedited POV of this. The fact the raft randomly stops and starts (and without warning) within the wheel could make or break this ride in my opinion. It could be fun and add another dimension, or it could just interrupt the flow of the ride. I suppose the motion will be similar to Mickey's Sun Wheel but without the benefit of having a point of reference to see when you will stop/start. They are wearing helmets during testing because of site regulations They are wearing helmets during testing because of site regulations

I have no strong opinion here, but I think it would have been nice as a Fantasyland expansion. It should work well in the studios too, though. It looks like the Millennium Falcon portion from the artwork (no Battle Escape), although it's obviously only an artists' impression at the moment so it is only conceptual so I'm not reading too much into it yet.

This is great, and WDS will be a really good park once this is done. There are little glimmers of greatness shining through now, but it's definitely a park of two halves, and the 'bad half' is REALLY bad, and the good half is only 'quite good'. This looks like a really well thought-out expansion and I hope we're all still alive by the time this is complete I'm interested to see what is in the pipeline for the original park too. I think with all the rehabs and renovations, plus this huge announcement, by the time they're finished the resort will be great. Something original would be great, but I'd be happy with Indiana Jones.

Suzuka Circuit Announces Duel GP.
KarlaKoaster replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No no, I might not have been clear but this isn't an 'is it a credit' discussion haha. A couple of members weren't sure on the method of propulsion that's all. -
Suzuka Circuit Announces Duel GP.
KarlaKoaster replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yep I agree! Full disclosure: I only mentioned it was powered as I noticed a couple of members discussing whether it was propelled by a mini launch or was more like a powered coaster rather than it being an 'is it a credit' thing. I don't count coasters either as it's basically admin to me, and even I can't decide for myself what counts as a credit or not so there is no way I could ever wade into an 'is it a coaster' argument as it's an argument about black and white when there are thousands of colours of grey. Holy skidmarks, Batman, look at this image from Suzuka Circuit via Cupcakes and Coasters... this looks like it will be a lot of fun It appears to drift around corners (and is definitely powered as you thought, Noobitzer) -

Shame the park is rarely open into dusk, but fingers crossed it looks nice during daytime hours too. -

Europa Park Discussion Thread

I like that they're making the French rides more French. I adore Europa Park but some of the ride themes/locations are a little random -
You are not alone. I think it's probably my favourite WDW park with Epcot a close second (I might be alone in THAT line of thinking, I never know if people love or hate Epcot). It's beautiful, has a lot of attractions you can do without queuing and the E-Tickets are also really good. I think my expectations for Flight of Passage were too high as it didn't blow me away, but I really liked it and honestly the only bit I don't like about AK is Dinoland which I will actually go so far as to say that I think it is one of the worst lands at any Disney park I can think of.

3-part launch? You mean like 'GaleForce' and 'Sky Rocket 2'? What other rides do this? Capitol Bullet Train, Star Trek, Gold Rush and Soaring with Dragon are all other examples. I don't mind them, but I don't really want them to come at the expense of normal launched coasters. Soaring with Dragon looks very good, though, the launch looks pretty fast, but Star Trek wasn't really very impressive to me as the launch was very slow. -

Coasters always look slow from the air, plus it's testing so you can't really tell anything about the speed yet. -
I rode this quite a few times and I am pretty sure even now this would be my favourite drop tower. It was super intense and the location was really amazing. I loved going past all the neon escalators into the very upper echelons of the building before what was a very fast drop back into the bowels of the Trocadero. The Trocadero's fall from grace was almost as spectacular in that it went from this electric, vibrant place to be, to one of the most depressing. It was a long and painful death and it is nice to see so many great quality pictures of the ride, so thanks for a great first post. Not sure if I misread this, but just to clear this was a lot taller than 20-30 feet. If my memory serves me correctly it was 120ft, but like you say, being inside made it feel much taller and because you were so close to the escalators, much faster too.

Heide Park Discussion Thread
KarlaKoaster replied to Sebbe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, agreed. Heide Park is a very anonymous park without Colossos and not really worth visiting without it in my opinion.
