Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
sfkk replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was at the park today I too saw water dummies in the train, but only saw one train. I could also hear them opening and closing the brakes and there were workers on top of the track that the brakes were on. -

^ No, some of the local high schools have not let out yet, so they do not have enough workers to open the entire water park at once. -

The thing is, as much as we all hate SLCs, for some odd reason they are wildly popular with the GP. So in that sense, keeping it will please the locals and offer a large thrill ride to compete with other parks for little investment. That is, if they can get it open. -

^ Cool, Cyclos looks great. I do hope the line dies down later in the summer though. -

Yes, there was a private event today. Hopefully the park can get Cyclos up in a week. Skycatcher went up in about that time so they should be able to do it. -

I sure hope they can get Cyclos at least built by opening day. I don't mind them opening it later in the summer to get people to come back if that is what they are doing, but I don't want them to have to build it when the park is open because, from the location, it seems that they would have to close Lightning Run to build it. It makes me think the ride was delayed by the manufacturer or something like that because the park is usually pretty quick at getting rides up as soon as they arrive. Skycatcher and Up, Up and Away seemed to be put up just days after they arrived at the park. -

Does anyone know what Gwazi's entrance looks like now that it is closed? Did they put up construction walls or did they just remove the sign? -
What do you think of Fast Passes?
sfkk replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hate them. I think it is extremely hypocritical of parks to threaten to eject people for line jumping, but then turn around and completely condone it if you essentially bribe them by buying a fast pass. It also looks bad because it shows that parks don't care about their guest experience, they only care about money and are completely happy to give specialized treatment to some guests and make the experience worse for others. The only fast passes that i am somewhat okay with are the ones that still make you wait the same time, but let you do other things instead of wait in line. I am so glad Kentucky Kingdom does not have fast passes as any park that does cares more about money than fairness, guest experience, and essentially breaks their own rules. -

^ The only reason i'm thinking it will be that spot is because they seem to be trying to fill up the front side of the park before they move onto the back. Cyclos and all of the new rides last year were on the front side. -

I wonder if they will put something in the rainbow's old spot. That area has been empty for a while now. -

^Actually they said the announcement would come before April 25th because they did not want to give away when the announcement would happen. -

Maybe they are sacrificing these two weekends in April so that they can do a Halloween event this year. It would be a great move for the park, but it probably won't happen. -

^There are not actually two back to back seats. What you are seeing are the seats on the other side of the tower. It is a pretty cool optical illusion that had me fooled for a while though. -

When i was at Kentucky Kingdom I heard this, "Lightning Run's first hill is 80 degrees, that means when you go up the lift hill the wind hits you at 80 degrees" I had to keep myself from bursting out laughing. -

Yeah, I noticed that too, but Six Flags does that all the time with their advertising. It is on the verge of false advertising if you ask me. -
The amazing (real time-ish) adventures of jarmor!
sfkk replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is a pretty cool find! But the way I see it, the 90's and now are the hey-day. For the first time (besides twisted twins) we have a truly special and different coaster that you cannot find anywhere else. The park is doing very well financially, and there are big plans for the future. I cant wait to see the park in a few years, especially with this little Midwest rivalry going on with Holiday World and Kings Island. -

Nice pictures and I am glad you enjoyed the park. They certainly put a lot of effort into it, so I am glad to see that it is paying off. -

Kentucky Kingdom made a free app that is available in the App Store that has an interactive map, helps you remember where you parked your car, and keeps track of your friends in the park, and notifies you of in park deals. All you have to do is search Kentucky Kingdom and it will be the first one. It is pretty useful and should help people with the confusing layout. -

Yes you should do the water park first. When I did Deluge by my self there were two people on a raft waiting and they just put me in the back, so it shouldn't be to hard. Tornado is a different story as you would have to find someone before you get to the top of the slide. -

^ Well, I think the only thing they can do to counter a launched B&M is a launched RMC on Twisted Twins. Ed Hart always went big in the past with Chang etc. and I don't expect this time to be any different, especially with the increased competiton. -

It has been confirmed by Ed Hart many times that T2 will get new trains. They pretty much have to because right now all T2 has is one seven car train. It will probably also get a new coat of paint because the current one is very faded, I just hope it does not go back to that horrific bright red color. -

From Holiday World's Facebook You should also add to your list of family benefits, that nursing moms will never be harrassed for publicly or privately feeding their babies in your park, because your nursing policy is nicely in line with Indiana state law...unlike some parks who have managed to find themselves making unfortunate headlines. 3 ยท July 11 at 10:24am Holiday World & Splashin' Safari: Thanks, Aven. We're all about "free, unlimited" drinks here ... and that includes the little ones This park sure is getting a lot of bad publicity.
