  1. Expensive maybe (since given the age I assume you're a broke college student, I'm not too far removed and I can totally relate ) but don't worry about it being difficult. We usually book hotels in Sandusky on Holiday weekends a day or two in advance and have no problems. There's no shortage of value hotels in Sandusky. What's your budget? There's no need to book now, so I'd suggest keeping an eye on sites like Kayak and just waiting for a deal to pop up. Just be patient and you'll probably find something. There's no reason to feel like you need to book a room in advance in Sandusky. The number of rooms in that city far outweigh the demand. Yea, definitely check out Kayak. I got a really cheap rate at Breakers Express for coastermania through that site.
  2. Wow, It's been awhile since I've looked at the webcams. They are making good progress on the Breakers new wing (I assume that's what it is, right?) Also, glad to see they are making some upgrades to the waterpark here, always thought it was one of the worst in the chain of those I've been to.
  3. Bert and I got ours too, this morning! Got mine! We'll need a TPR meetup!
  4. You have to put everything in a locker on the roller coasters...it sucks... There will be lockers near the entrance to the rides, but it's usually a clusterf---, especially by dragon challenge.
  5. That photo makes me want to s**t my pants...but it's also really bad@$$.
  6. Heck, I'd expect more in the $500-600 range. And if I lived within an hour of CP I'd think that would be very reasonable. edit* Looking back to Six Flags doing their All Season Flash Pass, SFGAm has it at $400, SFMM at $500. Not sure how successful it was, but they are still doing it so it must have worked. I'd definitely think CP would be a lot more.
  7. What about a triple barrel roll? Eh. For me I think the double barrel roll is perfect. It's not to little and not to much. . . It's just right!! I think 3 in a row might start feeling a little repetitive. Like on the 10 inversion coasters. All the rolls near the end just seem so redundant and not that enjoyable. I'm hoping this thing doesn't have inversions. A balls to the wall intense twisty air time machine would be perfect I think. Then again, I'm not one to go nuts for inversions.
  8. Definitely: Cedar Point Kings Island Kentucky Kingdom Most likely but not confirmed: Dollywood Kennywood Beech Bend (1st time) Hopefully: BGW Carowinds KD
  9. Looking at that layout again, the helix after the corkscrew looks like it will be really intense. I love that first zero-g roll right after the drop. I'm a fan of these small but intense rides! This looks like a winner.
  10. That's insane...I was going to comment on how tiny the space is for the new drop ride, and now a B&M? Dang Grona Lund..you crazy! I'd love to get out there someday, what a unique park.
  11. Goliath and Phantom's Revenge drops may not be all that crazy in a sense but I do love the fact that they feel like they go on forever. After all, they are 200ft + drops, they are going to be pretty great no matter what the shape.
  12. That's what I was thinking. Can't think of why they'd want to keep that out intentionally throughout the winter.
  13. 1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? I did a 4 park trip a few years ago, From Lexington, KY to KD, to Dorney, to Hershey, to Knoebels, to home near Pittsburgh. So that ended up being about 1100 miles. 2. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. Invert or dive. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? Never thought about it..I did think I had heard a Disney movie soundtrack at Universal once but that couldn't be. 32. There's 5 minutes before the park closes. 14. 31 B&M's, which is same amount of wood coasters I've been on in North America. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Wow, this looks like a lot of fun! Can Kentucky Kingdom get one? It really looks good!
  16. I remember a rumor that Six Flags tried to cut costs that year and wanted to cancel Raging Bull but it was too late, so they downsized Georgia Scorcher which was originally supposed to be the size of Chang and Riddler's Revenge. Not sure how true that was, but interesting nonetheless I was told that Six Flags wanted to add a Medusa/Bizzaro clone as opposed to Raging Bull, but Great America already purchased Bull without corporate's permission. Corp. tried to convince them to stop the construction but GAm convinced theme otherwise. Never knew Scorcher was affected by this If Scorcher was affected by it, then that was a good thing. By far the best Stand-Up out there imo.
  17. ^My 2nd roller coaster! I loved when it had those extremely loose little leather straps for "seat belts." I need to get back to my original home park soon. Great quality as always, thanks!
  18. Hey, you're using common sense boldikus...stop that! There's no time for that around these parts...
  19. ^^^Great report! I enjoyed my first trip to the resort last year, even the Harry Potter areas (which I'm not a huge fan of). It's really a nice looking pair of parks, but until they add something really really spectacular, I don't find myself really itching to get back. It's been 15 years since I've been to WDW so that is much higher on the list of parks to get to. Thanks for the report again though!
  20. 1) Montu - Intense all the way through! 2) Afterburn - I probably have the most fun on this one. Wish they turned the hill over the lift into another zero-g. 3) Alpengeist - Big, fast, snappy! 4) Raptor - My first B&M invert. Everytime I start to doubt it's intensity, it gives me a great ride. 5) Banshee - Best first drop, everything is very drawn out and graceful. I like some snap to the elements on the inverts. I also prefer the old restraints, new ones aren't bad though. Honorable Mentions: Great Bear BTR Talon Blah: Dragon Challenge Silver Bullet
  21. I believe these are the only ones I've been on. Phantoms Revenge Apollo's Chariot (It's been 10+ years, but always thought of as one of my favorites) Magnum Diamondback Skyrush Goliath - SFOG Steel Force Goliath - SFMM Intimidator
