  1. Its not really an "inversion" though. Its more like an overbanked turn. Still looks like crazy fun, though.
  2. I always thought it was the residential neighborhoods close to the park that didn't want to deal with the noise of a wooden coaster.
  3. I've got two parks I consider "home" parks: Canada's Wonderland and Darien Lake. Both of these parks are no brainers when it comes to best coasters. They are Behemoth and Ride of Steel, respectively. Can't complain having B&M and Intamin hypers only about an hour drive from me.
  4. ^ I do have to give CW credit for how they've been running it though. When I was there, the ride opened with all three trains operating and they were cranking people through at a crazy rate. Never really had to wait longer than 45 minutes all day to get on. And that was with a full queue. At least in that respect, they planned ahead and were prepared.
  5. Probably CWMania, they usually seem to be up to date on any happenings at CW. That's where I got all my Behemoth info before the announcement and during the off-season.
  6. Man, I really hope that isn't true about Behemoth. I'm glad I got my first ride in on Friday. Even then, there was a bit of chaos in the park. A fight almost broke out at Extreme Skyflier when people tried line jumping. Why someone would line jump for an upcharge attraction is beyond me, but it provided some comedy while waiting. There was also a bit of chaos in the Behemoth line at the start of the day that ended up with security booting some people out of the park.
  7. So, I just came back from CW, and Behemoth absolutely blew me away. The trains didn't feel awkward or anything like that and I could still talk to my friend beside me. As for the ride itself, great sustained floater airtime on every hill. The only trim that was on was the first one, and it wasn't that noticeable. You pretty much had to know it was coming and actively try to feel for it. CW has a real winner on its hands here. And its about time.
  8. The only floorless coaster I've been on is Griffon (if you even can consider that "floorless"), and the floorless thing didn't really make that big of a difference for me, no matter where I sat. I didn't really notice there was no floor as I was too busy being distracted by other things. That being said however, I never got the chance to ride Sheikra when it still had a floor, so I don't know how the two versions compare to one another.
  9. I'm definitely looking forward to riding this in a few weeks. Like you, I'm holding out on judgment until I get a ride during peak times in June/July when its hot out to see how they trim it. I doubt they'll be trimming it hard when I make my first visit on May 9th.
  10. ^ The last ride I had on Viper (2006) was absolutely horrible. It was one of the roughest rides I've ever had. I got slammed into the restraints hard multiple times. It might have been a bad day, but my ride was nowhere even near relatively smooth.
  11. ^ There really are no tips for Darien Lake. Each time I've gone in the last couple years, the park has been virtually empty. You can get multiple re-rides on pretty much everything with ease. Of course, the only ride you would WANT to ride again would be Ride of Steel though. Their coaster line-up isn't exactly stellar.
  12. I was nervous about riding my first looping coaster without OTSR's, too (which was Scorpion @ BGE). However, when I got off it, I realized that the ride was perfectly safe the way it was and that there really wasn't a need for OTSR's. Even in the loop, I felt completely safe.
  13. Absolutely nothing is wrong with White Castle. The last time I was down in Ohio, I made sure that we stopped at a White Castle. Good times were had by all.
  14. Whenever I go down to Virginia, I always spend a few days in Virginia Beach before heading over to Williamsburg. Its great just to relax on the beach and do nothing. I also find that the Fishing Pier is totally worth the $2 to go out on. I just stand at the end and gaze out onto the ocean. I find the entire area very therapeutic. That, and the Aquarium/Marine Museum is AWESOME.
  15. But the capacity difference between IJ and Behemoth is massive. While I expect the lines to be long this summer, I don't think they'll be as bad as IJ or the Bat. Behemoth can just pump people through it. Or perhaps I'm being overly optimistic.
  16. I was in line for Griffon last year at BGE and someone asked me if this was the ride that your feet dangled. It took me a while to explain the difference between the floorless Griffon and the inverted Alpengeist. At least the person was in the right line. Sometimes, all it takes is a playing of RCT to get a good chunk of the GP to understand the basics of different roller coaster designs.
  17. omg, wut? I like forceful coaster...but damn.
  18. I was on the Canadian (good) side of Niagara Falls last week and went down by Table Rock to see if anything was posted. There was absolutely no signage about the attraction at all. Although, there was some construction going on at the Table Rock complex which leads me to believe its a 4D movie or something.
  19. That would be a very cool thing to see. Or even wandering to the top of the mountain where Vortex crests.
  20. I just saw the POV of Eagle Fortress... O M G That thing is friggin' INSANE. I can see why it was ranked so high.
  21. Yeah...I thought of that after I posted. ERT for the Bat would be a great way for people to get the credit. Same goes for Top Gun (or Flight Deck, if you will), the only SLC to have a 3 hour line...ever.
  22. Why anyone would want ERT on Wild Beast or the Bat I'll never know. I'll just be riding Vortex and Behemoth for each session.
  23. Whenever I go to CP, I stay at the Bayshore Estates campground. Its off site so you don't get that early entry. But its dirt cheap to stay there, has a free shuttle to the park and is actually quite nice. Although...the freight trains do run behind the campground every three hours at night.
  24. You clearly don't spend enough time in the Magellan Lab (lol, UW geography). I know I'm taking the day off work for the opening of Behemoth. A "sick day" if you will.
