  1. This was my first reaction. Looks pretty cool though.
  2. I've never seen Cars (or many of the Pixar movies, to be honest), but I do like the idea behind this new area. I know my 2 little cousins would go crazy over this. I can't remember seeing them not wearing something with Lightning McQueen on it
  3. T Express video was on there, as was a Hershey video from '04, and a CGA video from awhile back.
  4. Seriously. The ride itself will become a classic ride by the time it opens.
  5. I think ridiculous is a bit of an understatement.
  6. I've been fortunate and have yet to have a truly terrible experience at a park, but I'd say the worst for me was IOA in '06 because I didn't get to ride Dueling Dragons, but I still enjoyed myself.
  7. That alone might make me want to go to the UK/Europe trip instead of Middle America.
  8. Middle America looks very intriguing...I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to make it but I'll be saving money for it as best I can.
  9. The Steve McNair one is just wrong...I mean, LOL, but it's just wrong.
  10. This ride will entertain the millions.......anddddd millions of Rock's fans.
  11. So one will be black and the other white?
  12. Try 4.5. I don't understand how this ride could possibly cost $6 million MORE than Pilgrims Plunge, which not only is 40 feet taller, but also uses an elevator lift, which surely wasn't cheap. I know that this ride has an extra drop, but that second hill is less than 50ft tall, and uses a traditional lift hill. How does that add up to $10.5 million? But that aside, I think this looks like a great addition to the Point. It seems like it will be in a nice location, and the look of the final drop into those "rapids" will turn out to be really cool, I bet. Judging by the fact that the Pilgrims Plunge's boats are dropping from an extra 40 feet, and that you rarely get completely "soaked" on that ride, I doubt you will get as wet on STR as many of you are imagining. Of course, if they end up installing that waterfall as it is in the animation, that may cause problems...by you shouldn't pay too close attention to the 3D renderings on a ride like this. (Remember how large they displayed PP's splash as being? Yeah...that's not how it turned out). With only 7 boats, PP's line never stops moving, and I'm guessing that it also has longer blocking intervals, because of the elevator lift. Therefore, I doubt capacity will be much of an issue on this new ride. Can't wait to ride STR next year! lol 15 year old "experts." Oh, I'm sorry...I forgot that 15 year old teenagers can't read or make observations. Maybe if you opened your eyes and stopped being so stereotypical, you could actually read over my post and tell me what you find wrong with it. I didn't think you had to be an "expert" to comprehend a couple of press releases... Eh, you do seem to be a bit into yourself...I mean, your avatar is a picture of you...
  13. yeah paramount was soo neglectful to carowinds. Forget about top gun it wasnt a new, custom inverted coaster...and reptar, and saturator, and richoet...lets just bash paramount for running the parks into the ground almost to death... If I would call any park being neglected it would be Michigain Adventures... Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. They might as well just rename the park "Six Flags Kentucky Dump" Creative.
  14. Can't wait for the Knoebel's update. Needless to say, the Mikestery Card will be mine I'd say I'm the odds-on favorite, anyway.
  15. In my opinion, Dominator is one of the best (if not THE best) floorless coasters out there... Ever heard of Kraken? 20 billion times better than Dominator. Just because one coaster is better than another doesn't mean that the other one sucks...I like Montu more than Raptor, but that doesn't mean I think Raptor is a bunch of green fail.
  16. Tell you what, I might be able to catch you at Knoebel's on Saturday depending on my work schedule. I've been meaning to go over there and get the KK credit but haven't had the cash. EDIT: If you're there before 4 I'll be able to get there, as I work 4-9.
  17. The two huge racing tires aren't a hint or anything.
  18. The only one I've been on is Steel Force, but I love it. I think Morgans are great options for parks who want hypers but can't afford a B&M or Intamin version. I'm surprised Cedar Fair didn't add one to Michigan's Adventure back when Morgans were still in style.
  19. This could possibly be the last giga we see. I really can't think of a park that would be a feasible location for one that doesn't already have a hyper or something similar. Now of course that didn't stop Cedar Point from doing it, but they're a special case, IMO. This is very unique and I think we're lucky to have been around when these were announced.
  20. My only concern is the sharp transitions. When I rode El Toro, I got a headache from being jerked from one side to the other during that ending segment. I'll just have to pop a few Drammamine before riding I guess.
  21. As everyone should...I'm surprised at some of the basic sports knowledge that most people on here don't know. Not to mention the Sprint Cup usually has practice on Thursday. The race is sort of nearby in Bristol, TN, but I doubt he'd have time to make an appearance even if he wanted to.
  22. I'm at a loss for words that someone doesn't know who Chris Paul is.
  23. You basically summed up every B&M hyper except for Raging Bull.
  24. Despite only living about an hour and 10 minutes away, this was my first trip to Dorney since 2004. I've been itching to go back ever since because of the credits I was missing (first Hydra, then Possessed). We got some discount tickets at a local grocery store, $29.50 as opposed to the $40.99 at the gate, which was a pretty good deal. We left at about 9:45 and got there around 11-ish, and the parking lot was pretty crowded, but I was pretty confident that the park would have minimal lines and a majority of those people would be flocking to Wildwater Kingdom considering it was 90+ degrees all day. Turns out, I was right. I wanted to get one of the new credits out of the way, so we headed down to Possessed. POSSESSED (#67): Loved this ride, fantastic addition to Dorney and really does make the loss of Laser sting less. The launches were forceful and I loved the holding brake. Ride cycle was a little short, but I'll live. Only a one train wait too. I liked Possessed way more than the other impulse I've been on, Wicked Twister. This one seemed a lot more intense despite being shorter and slower than the Cedar Point version. Since we were already in the area we decided to hit up Steel Force, another one train wait. Rode just as well as I remember it riding 5 years ago, filled with air and an overall fun ride. After getting those two out of the way, we made the trek up the hill to capture my other missing Dorney credit, Hydra. HYDRA THE REVENGE (#68): Needless to say, a heck of a lot better than the ride that previously occupied that spot of land. The area looks so much different than it did when Hercules was there, it's as if they were in two completely different spots. I remember there being a lot more trees and shading when Herc was there, and I think a bathroom was relocated too, I'm not sure. Anyway, the ride was pretty good, and a lot more intense than I was anticipating. I greyed out in the transition between the incline dive loop and the zero g, and also near the end of the ride, I forget exactly where. I did however notice that rattle that people complained about, and while it hindered the ride a little, it wasn't too too noticeable. I'd still put Medusa/Bizarro ahead of it as far as floorlesses go, but still a great replacement for Hercules. It's a shame they didn't use the lake at all, though. We got a call from the people that would be meeting us at the park (they ran late) and said they'd be there soon. All they wanted to do was hit up WWK, so I wanted to squeeze one last coaster in, so we made a beeline to Talon. Ran great and hauled as usual, but it was here where I realized that I can't go like I used to as far as coaster riding was concerned. I got off with a huge headache and felt some motion sickness, which is something I never used to get. Hell, I rode Twister 47 times in one day in 2003 and felt the same after the last ride as I did before the first one. Now, I felt crappy after 4 rides. Kinda sad, I'll have to start taking Drammamine when I go to parks. We finally met up with the rest of our group, got a ride on Thunder Canyon, then made our way to Wildwater Kingdom. It was a really depressing trip for me, really. My gram used to take me to Dorney every year when I was little and we just spent all day in WWK. This stopped awhile ago, and I hadn't been over here since roughly 1998. Everything I remembered and loved as a kid was still there, but it was so much different...all the new additions, the fact that I couldn't do the things I could then, was depressing for some reason. I didn't have nearly as much fun as I used to. It sounds weird, but I wish I could go back to WWK circa '97 or '98 and do what I used to do. The white slide on Patriot's Plunge was pretty fun, but it still wasn't the same. I don't think I'll be visiting WWK any time soon, I'll just stick with the rides. Anyway, we left at around 6 and got home at about 7:15...I got burned like crazy, so I'll be heading to bed right about now before the real pain sets in.
