Weird roller coasters.
gerstlaueringvar replied to Rct3man777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The first train of this ride left the station with the CEO of the park, the engineers and the construction crew on board. But the train disappeared into the tunnel forever. Most of them were sucked into the 5th dimension but some of them didn't make it because the coaster already knocked them out. -

Cargo Shorts. Your thoughts?

Those are fashion disasters that should be left in 2001. But pretty practical if you want to carry things around. I would just wear a pair of joggers with zipper pockets. -

What's terrifying is many years in the future, all of these "aesthetically pathetic" parks will be losing a huge amount of money and they definitely won't be maintaining these rides properly. And looking at those transitions, this thing is a ticking time bomb. -

Again, every park needs a Mega-Lite. -
Weird Coaster Facts

I was thinking about this as I read the CP thread, what coaster and what ride have the highest annual ridership in the world? I'm thinking Big Thunder Mountain and Haunted Mansion at MK. -
All the statements I am reading from Sea World's investor relations website say that attendance at SWSA was up this year. While yes it was down in 2015, my post was in reference to the layoffs that just took place the other day, not the ones that took place after 2015. And the fact that this is the "SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread." Also not sure why I get labeled as a "Disney Parks person" when I post a lot about other parks. My home park growing up was KI and I have been to all the Six Flags, Universal, Sea World, and Cedar Fair (minus MIA) parks in the country. I have seen up close all the business cycles of the past 25 years or so in the amusement park business: I've seen Paramount come and go, i've seen Time Warner come and go, i've been to Six Flags Ohio, i've been to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, i've been to Six Flags New Orleans, I was traveling around the country going to parks during the "coaster wars" of the 90s and early 2000s and got a front row seat to the madness. I've ridden all the rough Arrow mega loopers of the 80s that are now gone. I rode Texas Giant/Rattler/Mean Streak/Hades when they were smooth and again after they got rough. I've ridden almost every B&M in the continent. I've rolled back on both TTD and Storm Runner (and have also ridden Kingda Ka and Xcelerator). I've dealt with the pain of trying to get on all 3 DejaVu's when they were new and unreliable (MM's I got the first time, GAm's I eventually got on after many attempts, and sadly Georgia's broke down and cleared the queue when I was going to be on the next train, was closed all day when I visited a few years later, then was removed for my next visit). I was at Alton Towers when Air was the big new ride. I've seen all the companies change their strategies many times. I don't know how this makes me a "Disney person that only relates to Orlando and socal." Sorry I don't mean to come off as an enthusi-ass to everyone else or take away from your opinions, because if you're posting on here i'm sure you've been to a lot of parks too. But don't make an assumption and label me as just because you don't agree with me.

If they knew this to be true, why wouldn't they immediately double prices? They would have to be insane not to. I get what you're saying but there must be some reason that they're at the current price point. There's no way they would knowingly undercharge that much. High price would cut down the attendance and discourage people from spending money inside of the park. Lots of people would totally pay $200+ to go to Disneyland (Not me) but they might not want to buy merchandise or eat inside of the park or buy photos and more. Plus, a big portion of the "rich SoCal people" probably have annual pass already and annual pass holders tend to spend less money inside of the park than the "Mommy I've been dreaming to go to Disneyland for 10 years" people. So overall it would be really bad to drastically increase the ticket price. Why pay $200 to go to Disneyland when you can go to Universal Studios Hollywood for $100 and do Harry Potter stuff? I bet after a huge amount of calculation and surveying, the current price is exactly the balance between allowing the most amount of people into the park (trap them so they won't go to Disneyland's competitors) and encouraging everyone to spend money inside of the park.

Looks more like Apollo's hill before the giant helix than a twisted hill to me. The pull-up curves to the right and then half a regular airtime hill then twist to the left and dive. -

^ I kind of feel like the signature part of the ride is the Ferris wheel lift. Once you get to the top, you're done experiencing the main point of that ride and the rest of the layout only serves the purpose of bringing the car back to the station.
