Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Woodie Warrior replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry for the double post, but I love how Hyena Falls has friends now! Before it just was way out there by itself but I feel like now it fits into the layout of the park more cohesively than before. Very good placement on all three rides HW! It's still extremely out of place, considering it's part of Splashin' Safari and is a good 10 minute walk from the other water park attractions. But like Paula has said, it's all part of HW's plan, so I'm sure within a few years it won't be a problem anymore. -

I really don't like those maps where all the proportions are so messed up. It's kind of misleading. The map looks fine to me. The proportions aren't really messed up at all. Not sure where you're getting that from. This makes sense. I bet this was supposed to be a surprise to be discovered by the park. They waited to release the park map until they HAD too, plus it isn't listed on the map, just pictured. Added with the fact they are making it a game in trying to get the first pic from a fan, and Holiday World promising more surprises and a game opportunity to win front of the line passes for Thunderbird. I watched the IAAPA video demo on YouTube and this looks like a TON of fun. However the spin u win game/ride gets the "spin u win looks too intense for me" roller coaster tycoon treatment from me lol I think it is one of the games listed on the map, we just don't know which one. I'm guessing it's the "Stars & Stripes Showdown". -
There was a lot of nastier weather days during the week this month, which is the reason why the Palace roof isn't quite done yet. I would guess that it is probably the same with JLBM. Plus, with a lot of the same crew members working on different parts of the project, there might be some that are finishing the inside before devoting their time to the exterior once the weather gets better. Idk but with JLBM, this weekend I'm just feeling like IT'S ELECTRIC *boogie woogie woogie*. Yeah, I don't know why I forgot about the whole weather situation. I had a brain fart. I forgot to mention: Even though it's not done yet, it's obvious that SFSTL's facade is going to be tons better than SFOT's. Not only is ours at least double the width, but we don't have a giant metal building popping out over the top like theirs does. It should look really nice when it's done. I can't wait!

Tempesto looks like a great addition, even if the capacity is going to be a small issue. The forces (both negative and positive) look to be even better than those on the 2-car versions. The theming looks pretty awesome as well. I LOVE the loop around the entrance, and the lights over the plaza are a nice touch. It definitely looks like a nice, solid addition to the BGW. I hope to make it out to the park within a few years.

I visited the park today for the second time this season. Outside of Justice League has gotten some more work but it still hasn't changed too much. It seems like they could knock out the rest of the exterior in a week or so. (Small comment: I'm sure there was reasoning for it, but why is the exterior the last thing to be finished? I would think the park would want to have it done before the season started so that it would look nice for guests and convince them to come back later.) All rides have at least two trains except for American Thunder. Mr. Freeze broke down around 1ish, and we got exit passes. We decided to use them on Boss.... Wow! Boss is running really incredible this season. No, it is nowhere near "butter smooth" but it is 10000000000000% times better than it was last season. It seems like they only retracked a small section, but the entire ride felt so much better as a result. Plus, they didn't even take our exit passes, just checked them, so we used them again later on Batman (which didn't even have a wait, so we didn't feel too guilty). Lots of busses today as well, which was sort of annoying, as one group gave all their students Flash Passes. Side note: I'm not trying to start a rumor, as the chances of my idea coming true is extremely small, but since Iron Boss apparently has near zero chance of happening, what if the park built a brand-new RMC wood coaster? Sure, that would mean 4 woodies, but they would all be completely different. I mean, you have an old, classic one, a terrain, lateral-filled one, a twisty, airtime-filled one, and a state-of-the-art one with inversions. Topper track means little maintenance work, and an RMC coaster would be a lot cheaper than most other potential coasters. Again, the chances of this happening are so small, especially with the amount of money the park is spending on JLBFM, but having 4 awesome wooden coasters would almost make SFSTL a destination park.

Basically Spiderman....but better. It's a web spun from Spiderman's foundation with extra elements & improvements as well! As excited as I am for JLBFM, I have to say it's going to be incredibly difficult for it to beat Spider-Man. I'm sure it'll be awesome, but Spider-Man is one of my favorite rides ever. It beats out most coasters and pretty much every dark ride I've ridden.

I've become obsessed with two new albums. Imagine Dragon's Smoke + Mirrors is a great sophomore album, and has such a wide variety of genres. You have "Shots" which has a soft pop feel, all the way to "I'm So Sorry" and "Friction" which are full out rock songs. They're coming to my home town in June, but of course our family happened to schedule our vacation to Gulf Shores on the same date. George Ezra's debut album Wanted on Voyage has a feel similar to Mumford and Son's. "Budapest", "Blame It On Me", and "Did You Hear the Rain?" are all excellent. He has a folk sound to him and mixes it with other genres such as blues. He's going to be an artist to watch, for sure.

Were they closed due to the wind today? Or is Goliath still awaiting a chain replacement? -=CoasterBP I disagree with it being a good day at the park. 5 rides were down all day - Superman, X2, Goliath (chain), Scream, Colossus. The last 3 were expected. YOLO was having a tough day too. I waited 40 minutes at opening for them to get the ride going. Then they were loading only 1 train. They finally pulled the second train off the track. Revolution was only running 1 train too. Fewer people today, but fewer functioning rides. Much to my surprise Lex was running fairly well, although they had the single rider line closed. Not the best guest experience for me, but I had a great day yesterday... So...you disagree with him that it was a good day at the park, yet you say that you had a great day? I'm confused.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of pecans, I'll probably try "Thunderbird" out when I'm at the park. This reminds me of the Outlaw Run ice cream flavor that has caramel and chocolate chunks. It's a cool marketing move for both the parks and the ice cream brands. -
Please stop. I beg you. None of these even resemble what I would call a joke.

^The capacity will be far greater than Scooby Doo's. SD probably dispatched a boat every 30 seconds, which means 120 times each hour. Multiply that by 4 people a boat (but let's be honest, most of the time it was 2 or 3 in a boat), and you get 480. In reality though, let's multiple 120 by 3, since that's the # of riders it normally had, and we get 360. I'd say Justice League will probably only have 4-5 riders in each car, so let's do your equation with that number (15x4.5x7) and you get 472ish riders an hour. Capacity may be a small issue, but honestly I'm just glad they are giving us a state of the art attraction.

Six Flags St. Louis 2016: Ninja is removed. Harley Quinn's SpinSanity (S&S 4D Free Spin coaster) is added in its spot. Screamin' Eagle receives minor renovations (like a refreshed queue) for its 40th anniversary. Batman goes backwards during spring and summer. 2017: Manta, a new ProSlide HydroMagnetic water coaster, is added to Hurricane Harbor. 2018: Two new rides replace Tidal Wave: Soaring Eagles (Larson Flying Scooters) and Route 66 Express (Zamperla family coaster). 2019: More flat rides added to Illinois area: Hurler (Tilt a Whirl) and Traffic Jam (Bumper Cars). 2020: Iron Boss (RMC redo of Boss).

The only semi-logical complaint about Tempesto is the capacity issue, and that will not be nearly as big of a problem as everybody is making it out to be. Seriously, WHO CARES that it's a clone? The closest clone of it will be in California. Would all you people complaining rather drive there instead of having a version at your local park? It's not like this ride is replacing any other ride. Would you rather not get any new ride instead of getting Tempesto? Edit- Not to mention the themeing for the ride looks just as good as the rest of the park.

Cedar Fair Rankings
Woodie Warrior replied to Snowyowl1028's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As of now I've only been to a whopping 3 CF parks. Here's how I'd rank them: 1) Kings Island 2) Cedar Point 3) Worlds of Fun All around I liked the feel of Kings Island a lot more than I liked the atmosphere of Cedar Point. Yes, CP does have that great western area, but the rest is a bit bland. KI may not have better coasters (CP has better coasters by a long shot, although I really liked Diamondback, Banshee, and Racer) but I still liked it a bit better. As for WOF, it can't really compete, but it's a beautiful and surprisingly well-themed park. -
I didn't take many pics but here are some "renovations" I noticed: -Go Fresh Cafe and a new chicken restaurant are now sharing the space where Character Cafe was -Smokehouse's patio has been extended with lots of new outdoor seating -Palace has been repainted/freshened up -The gift shop near Shazam is now called "Superheros and Villains" and has lots of Justice League merch Go check out HWFan's post a few pages back. He has pictures of all the things I mentioned.

I'm getting the vibe 2015 is the final year for the Ninja. They had one train on this past weekend and while I know that it was the same for other coasters as well, Ninja hardly had a line, so adding a second train doesn't seem like it'd be necessary. I could easily see corporate send us an S&S 4D free fly next season, as it doesn't seem like it would be ridiculously expensive. And it seems like it would fit nicely where Ninja is right now. Then again, I could be totally off.
