^Ovo is playing in Melbourne at the moment, and I'd agree it's not up to their usual standard. The acrobatics remain stunning but almost too perfect - there's no suspense in the performance. Maybe Cirque has jumped the shark - so many shows playing in so many locations around the world that they're struggling to keep it fresh.

Getting a root canal. If I ever get offered this again I am just going to tell them to rip out the tooth. What's worse than a screaming baby on an airplane? -

^^So THAT's why they had it all covered in black stuff. Mystery solved. Also, Cedar Point looks great after a bit of snow! (I'm sure the construction crews love it too...) -

^Totally agree! No idea how I managed not to notice this thread. Really, really great trip reports - thanks! -

I caught a preview screening of Flight last night (another of those ones that took a few months to make it across the Pacific). Quite an interesting film, and certainly very different from the rest of Robert Zemeckis' work. I was expecting more of a Law & Order-style courtroom drama but it was more character-driven, which was a good thing. John Goodman was a standout - after years of second-rate kiddie films he's finally found some decent roles. Recommended.

Cedar Fair have six of the things and each cost at least $5m, so I imagine they're keen to have them operating again as soon as possible. However until the issue is completely fixed I doubt they will risk opening them up. From a corporate perspective a SBNO ride would be far preferable to the bad press the company will get if more breakdowns occur. -

Five months later, the planning continues. Following from a question I posted in the SFA thread: Original plan for the second week of the road trip was as follows: 6/5: SFA, drive to Williamsburg in evening 6/6: BGW 6/7: KD, drive to Washington after park closes 6/8 & 6/9: sightseeing in Washington, drive to Trenton on evening of 6/9 6/10: SFGAdv However we want to do the 'insider tour' at Busch Gardens, which only runs on Saturdays. So new plan is: 6/5 & 6/6: sightseeing in Washington 6/7: KD, drive to Williamsburg after park closes 6/8: BGW 6/9: drive Williamsburg-Washington, visit SFA, then drive to Trenton in evening 6/10: SFGAdv So obviously a lot of driving on 6/9. Anyone want to comment on how realistic that plan is? We could drive halfway from Williamsburg to Washington after BGW closes at 10pm but that would mean a very late check-in and an extra hotel change. A couple of other random questions: - how busy is BGW in early June? Will a quick queue pass be useful, or are we likely to get on everything anyway? The tour will give us single-use front-of-line passes for all the coasters except Verbolten. - not theme park related but which Smithsonian museums are the best? - are most park lockers big enough to fit a backpack? On the days where we're in-between hotels and have to leave our gear in the car I'd prefer to store my limited number of "valuables" (passport/camera/phone etc) in a locker so they're safe. Not that I expect the car to get broken into but just in case.

No. Have you ever flown in first class?

Just secured my ticket to PAX Melbourne. Don't quite get why they chose my hometown as the next location for this but I'm really happy that it's happening!

^, ^^ + ^^^ - thanks for the advice. I suspect we'll end up going on the Sunday, and just buy flash passes if the waits are too long. SFA's website has the gold flash pass price listed at $35 for one, anyone know how much it is for two people? $60? -

Need some advice - trying to decide on one of two dates to visit: Wed 5th June and Sun 9th June. I assume the Wednesday will be quieter but the Sunday will work better with our schedule. Is it likely to be super busy on that day? -
^I thought The Living Daylights was one of the best Bond flicks by far, very eighties but great plot and action sequences. Having watched the series start-to-finish not that long ago, my 'best of' would be: - From Russia with Love - Goldfinger - On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Live and Let Die - The Man with the Golden Gun - The Living Daylights - Goldeneye - Skyfall My 'steer clear' list includes Thunderball, Octopussy, A View to a Kill and Quantum of Solace.

Great Weezer show last night - they played an hour or so of hits, then for the second act they played the entire Blue Album. First time in 15 years they've come to Australia so the crowd was awesome, nice warm summer's night to be at the music bowl (similar venue to Hollywood bowl). Anyway hope to see the boys make more regular trips down under in the future. It might be a generational thing but there was no sea of iPhone screens recording every song like you see at most concerts these days. People were actually just enjoying the show rather than recording crappy bootlegs for youtube! A refreshing change.
