  1. Glad they haven't completely forgotten about that part of the park. An ICEE/refill stand would be nice there.
  2. All those are great maps. I could use any of them to get to the 100 foot tall thrill machine I'm looking for.
  3. Well, that was unexpected. Good for them! The Legend is fantastic, and we all had a good time there back in '16. This will be a good addition.
  4. I think a shot tower would do very well, especially if they called it Eruption.
  5. Outlaw Run opening day. Yay for offseason being over!
  6. You know, I'm not usually one to be inclined toward "they need this type" arguments, but I agree with you here. I think spinning coasters are a major category and easily recognizable, right up there with wooden coasters, the ones that go upside down, and the ones that don't go upside down. Beyond those four categories, no one cares.
  7. That looks like a lot of fun. Dalkey Donkey...nice pun, and I'm sure a good drink too.
  8. Yeah, I get that he's filming the last row so he can get the exact time, but you gotta read body language. Maybe film the ride ops instead of the guests? Maybe have a better idea for a coaster video? This whole thing was creepy. I kinda feel creepy for having watched it.
  9. That sounds good. Not sure the Reds licence was doing very much for them.
  10. What the hell does your opinion have to do with reason?
  11. Epcot looks so good. That Biergarten is amazing. I am generally a fan of biergartens.
  12. The original one is gone, demolished to make space for the Time Traveler gift shop. The location where it was last year over by Fireman's Landing is still there, it's a new gift shop now. That location has been a number of shops over the years.
  13. Everything at Seven Seas looks fantastic. More parks need to do food festivals like this.
  14. I love how you felt the need to tell me that name is associated with Fortnite. So you know it's not as big a deal as you're pretending it is. No one has to say "A lovable high-jumping, mushroom-eating plumber character called Mario" because everyone knows Mario. He's the most recognized character across all media. The Pokemon Go stuff is apropos here. It was a flash in the pan too. I played it a lot for a while, still do occasionally if I'm taking a walk anyway, but I don't go out of my way for it anymore, just don't care that much. Theme parks had a quick cash in and done. Angry Birds is possibly the only mobile game with staying power. It's been around a while with constant iterations and seems to still be relevant. The main problem with free to play games is that the developers are incentivized to make them less fun unless you pay up. If the game is really fun as is, people will play for free, so you put all the fun stuff behind paywalls. This has the effect of preventing the sort of connection to that game that you see with full priced games, where the developers have to convince someone there's enough fun content to be worth paying for. If theme parks are going to cash in on video games, they're going to be leveraging people's emotional connection to the game. Don't confuse microtransactions for emotional connection.
  15. I'd suggest a day and a half at Hershey v. Great Adventure, especially since Great Adventure has Flash Pass. It'd be easiest if you reversed the trip and went to GAdv first. Monday - Drive to NJ Tuesday - Great Adventure with Gold Flash Pass Wednesday - Dorney, drive to Hershey, go for preview day Thursday - Hershey Friday - Knoebels (yeah, slight backtracking, not far though) Saturday - Kennywood with VIP, drive back home
  16. ^^^ Thanks! ^^ I don't know for sure. I've never seen them exclude anything from the after 3 (or after 5) promotions, but you'd probably be best off calling them. ^ Yeah, it's an enormous area. Obviously there's a new rapids ride, but beyond that it's anyone's guess. I plan to be peeking through the glory holes all year!
  17. Happy Spring Break! It's a cold, windy, rainy day in the Ozarks, but it it's still a great day for Silver Dollar City. With rain in the forecast, there weren't so much "crowds" as there were "a few dozen crazy people." We walked onto everything. But first we walked into Hannah's Ice Cream Parlour. Now what kinda person just waltzes into an ice cream shop at quarter to 10 in the morning like they think they're a VIP? Someone who's bought a VIP refill cup! We were the first ones to redeem ours for the season! Naturally that meant the system wasn't quite working either. Not too much trouble, and we get free refills all year now! I noticed the refills went up to $2 this year, so that's helpful. Time Traveler and Thunderation were as good as ever, and then we took the long way round to Outlaw Run for a photo op. All these are taken from a public pathway through knotholes in the construction wall. What could be over here? The gold panning has been moved from near Tom and Huck's River Blast to between Riverfront Playhouse and White River Mercantile. This new bigger path is where the gold panning used to be. New location for Magic Box near Powder Keg. Love that mosswork. After the rest of the coasters, some time in Half Dollar Holler, and the Flooded Mine, it was time for lunch. Ahhh...skillet. The skillets come on plates this year. Much easier than the old bowls were, less spills over. And where did we go for dessert? The cinnamon bread told us "Apres moi, la deluge" so we headed out. Great start to the season and I'm glad it wasn't a washout.
  18. Yeah, I'm sure they did design this track to withstand speeds and forces in excess of what it will be required to do in the real world. They're good engineers. Look, Maverick is made of track that we know can perform at over 400 feet. There are a lot of factors in what actually gets built. You know what? I've decided I'm on board. 500 foot T Rex for CP's 150th. Can't wait to see the disappointment.
  19. I guess I'm just used to Starbucks and Subway mobile ordering where the food is ready by the time you get there. It gives you a time estimate (e.g. 15 minutes) based on how busy they are so that you can plan to arrive when the food/drink is ready. The way Starbucks does it is super convenient and I never have to wait in line at Starbucks anymore using the app. I've never had a problem getting the wrong drink or having my drink stolen either. I look at people waiting in line (which is long and slow at my college town) and wonder why everyone doesn't just use this service. I did run into an issue once with Subway where I ordered and paid for something they had run out of, and they had to call me and make me a different sandwich and issue me a cash refund for the price difference when I arrived at the store. I'd hate to pay for food at Six Flags to find out that they ran out of what I wanted and there is nothing else I can eat at that location due to my dietary restrictions. I'm sure they'd figure out some way to make it right, though. Unfortunately, I never tried mobile ordering when I was last at Disney, so I don't know how their mobile ordering works. That would probably be a better gauge to work with than Starbucks or Subway. Oh interesting. I live in a college town too, just don't like Starbucks. Sonic had an issue with an order I placed on the app, and they couldn't make it. They refunded me and brought out a substitute, all on their offer. I thought that was really great of them. As for Six Flags, undoubtedly there are going to be issues, especially in the beginning. They'll figure out what works for them. I just see them leaning really hard on what has been done before.
