  1. If you like those, you'll like the Larson Loop. I went on Brain Drain at Frontier City last year and I liked it, but it was too much for me, and I felt queasy afterward. I know I'm pretty sensitive to spinning/flipping rides though, so if you're not, you really will enjoy it. They're well made and not at all a carnival level of quality. I'm kind of on the fence myself about Indiana Beach. I'm going to be in the area in a few weeks, and the positive comments as well as the Larson Loop addition have me seriously thinking about stopping by. I'll be driving from Michigan City, In. (as far as I think I can drive after a full day at Michigan's Adventure) to the Springfield Mo. area in one day, so that doesn't leave a lot of time (it's about a 9 hour drive). It is theoretically possible, though. Steel Hawg would be my first El Loco, and those look really cool. Plus Cornball Express and Fascination, and I think I'm talking myself into it. Could everything be done in, say, 3 hours?
  2. Yeah that's one of those incentives that's basically all mental, like "all you can eat pancakes". The vast majority of people can't eat more than two or three restaurant-style pancakes, and the vast majority of those coming from out of state will only do one day at the park. The site is advertising one day tickets at $39.95, so even if you do go only one day, it's still $10 less than you would have paid. Really good news for us residents of neighboring states.
  3. Oh...then Boomerang won't be running this weekend? I guess I'll just have to ride all the other coasters that don't totally suck. Thanks for the photo!
  4. Because if Youtube banned all their stupid users, there wouldn't be any comments. Comments are where they make all their money.
  5. Oh yeah, you can do everything in 4 days. Won't need a flash pass if you have that much time, unless you just really hate waiting in lines. Devote one whole day to the waterpark; it's really good. Doesn't cost extra if you have a season pass, and if you're there for four days, get a gold season pass. It'll save you $100 in parking if nothing else.
  6. Not really. It all depends on what you're into. Are you just wanting coasters? Do you like flats? Do you (like me) go on all the flats that don't spin and none of the ones that do? Does the waterpark appeal to you?
  7. I seriously need a drink after watching that... That has to be trolling.
  8. ^ That can't be answered with a yes or no. Depends on a lot of factors, terraforming/landscaping probably the biggest variable. Electrical needs, staffing needs, and water pump infrastructure matter for the equation as well. A lot of this comes down to what a specific park already has compared to what they would need to have after those things were built. So, generally yes, but not necessarily so. Have you been to an FEC recently?
  9. Yes, but there's a critical mass for me to want to do so. There's a fair amount of time involved in a decision to go into a waterpark, with changing clothes, applying sunscreen, etc., so there have to be a good number of attractions I want to do for me to make that decision. I like to try new things, so if there's a water park that has something new that I've never done before, then that's going to be a high priority for me. I'll be going to Kentucky Kingdom in a few weeks, and I'm honestly as excited for Deluge and Deep Water Dive as I am Storm Chaser and Lightning Run. I have favourite slide types, too: I'll generally go on a mat racer or Tornado anywhere; they're both so much fun. Splashin' Safari is absolutely the best waterpark I've ever been to, and by a long shot. They really take care of that place well, and there are so many things to do. Crystal Falls is another standout, especially for small children. They have three children's areas, one of which has a 2' depth lazy river just for the little kids.
  10. Reductio ad absurdum. There are people who go to theme parks and don't ride anything. Perhaps their kids or grandkids want to ride. Perhaps they're coming to see a show (especially true of concert days). Perhaps they're performing, such as those cheerleader days. Trees make your day better. No one comes to a theme park just to sit under a tree. But those who do come to a theme park for any reason benefit from the presence of trees.
  11. From what I understand, they've only developed about half of what they own. I don't think we need to worry about expansions.
  12. Arrive before opening. As early as possible. Goliath and Whizzer are a do not miss for everyone; beyond that, it depends on what you're into. King Chaos was skippable for me, and I did skip it both days. I know a lot of people are into those, though, and they're becoming rarer (probably because of people like me who don't like them; sorry). Personally, I loved both the log flumes, the rapids ride, Giant Drop, Sky Trek, Goliath, X-Flight, Vertical Velocity, Demon, Viper, and Whizzer. Like I say, though, depends on taste; they really do have something for everyone. You should buy a Platinum Flash Pass. Even in June. Even on a weekday.
  13. Resisting....resisting....too perfectly set up..... THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!
  14. It is still the longest coaster in Missouri. That's a bit more meaningful a record, as that compares it to their two biggest competitors. It was also very briefly the tallest and fastest coaster in Missouri, thanks to the delays on Mr. Freeze. That "in the park" statement always struck me as laughable, though. They might as well just say, "Enjoy your ride on Mamba, a roller coaster."
  15. I took that from her statement, and this is a direct quote, "Once it was determined that [2015] was going to be the last year we could run it safely, we started thinking of what we could replace it with." Obviously she's PR, but as I don't have any inside sources at this park, I kind of just went by what a high level park director had to say about it. Where I come from, you don't accuse someone of lying unless you've got proof. That's why they call it the "Show Me State." The new trains look great!
  16. In the Loop interviewed Molly Vincent, Director of Advertising, shortly after the announcement of Monster.
  17. Normal spring day here. Very windy and cold in the morning, popup shower for an hour or two in the afternoon, then calm and cool in the evening.
  18. You know, I like these Larson flyers, but out here in the Midwest the only flyers there are are Larsons. Then I hear people saying those suck compared to Knoebel's flyers, and I think, "If Larsons are good, how incredible must these be?" And then I start planning a PA trip until I realize I don't have enough vacation time.
  19. It's just general confusion, happens to everyone eventually. Yeah, to be honest, the exit looks more like an entrance than the entrance does.
  20. No, the log flume didn't "need attention." It was toast. It wouldn't have run this year regardless. So rather than have a big empty area and build a coaster on the edge of the park, they built the new roller coaster in a big centrally located area that was suddenly empty.
  21. ^ Project approved. A coaster enthusiast is allowed to be enthusiastic about a new/under construction ride that has any of these qualities: 1. Has never been done before. 2. Has never been done as well as this. 3. Has never been near the enthusiast. 4. Breaks a record of any kind. 5. Looks like fun.
