  1. I live in the Springfield metro area, and I don't think I've seen a SDC commercial at all around here. When last we went to Kansas City, we saw two within an hour of watching television. Maybe parks just don't advertise as heavily to the local audience, since they're already aware of the park? Really? We get KY3 up here in JC and there's a SDC commercial during the 10pm news almost every night. Interesting. That's not one of the programmes I watch. Good that they are advertising at least. They're about to get much stiffer competition in Branson than they've had to deal with recently.

  3. Great news! As much as I like the Boss, another coaster everyone loves to hate on, I'm looking forward to riding Mean Streak in a couple of weeks. In the front, leaning forward.
  4. You are correct in that Santa Claus doesn't have much else besides the theme park. Evansville is a small but proper city and it has pretty much whatever you'd want in terms of shopping and dining. Three days will be awesome. Seems like a lot for one park, but not for Holiday World. They have a good ride selection and plenty of things you'll want to re-ride. Splashin Safari is where it's at. As good as the theme park is, the water park is the absolute best I've ever been to. You probably won't experience very long lines, especially Thu and Fri, but go to the waterpark right when it opens, and then do the coasters in the afternoon. That's the opposite pattern of most guests and will minimize waits. Have an awesome time! Enjoy the Legend renovations!
  5. Next Tuesday should be fairly empty. At this point in the year how long you spend at the park depends mostly on what you want to do. Definitely hit the four custom coasters: Patriot, Prowler, Mamba, Timber Wolf. If you want to go on Spinning Dragons, do that first, preferably at rope drop. The line grows throughout the day and never gets shorter. If you want to go on Boomerang, between Mamba and Prowler is as good a time as any, as you'll be walking right past it. The line for it is never very long, unless the park is insanely busy. Notable flats are Cyclone Sam's, Steelhawk (a Windseeker), and Detonator (the first S&S space shot). They also have a lot of classic flats, including a Chance Sea Dragon, a scrambler, a Round Up, an Enterprise, a Flying Dutchman, a Rotor, and a Swing Around. If you're into water rides, Fury of the Nile is one of the best Intamin rapids rides around, and Viking Voyager is a small but fun log flume. The park's third water ride, Monsoon, won't be open on your visit (it opens for the year 5/27). If you want to do everything I listed, and are there at opening, 3-4 hours should do it, plus any time for re-rides. Keep in mind, though, that Silver Dollar City closes at 6 PM that day, so it won't be possible to do both parks in one day (it's around 3.5 hours from Kansas City to Branson). Given that, it's definitely possible to stay all day at Worlds of Fun; you can leave at closing time (8 PM) and still get into Branson before midnight. If you're having fun, and it is a really great park, why leave early? All up to you. Have fun!
  6. No, it tends to be greasy. My favourite is the classic Margherita pizza. Have you ever raised goats?
  7. I'm going to be going to Kings Island in June, and I see that they are having ERT on Beast, Backlot Stunt Coaster, and Flying Aces Aerial Chase on the day I'll be there. My question is about lockers--will they be available during ERT. If not, then is there any problem stashing a backpack on the platform on any of those?
  8. Yes. Naps are awesome. (and you missed Dana Carvey) Do you play a musical instrument?
  9. Yes, but I live 1000 miles from the ocean, so I don't get to very often (about 5 times in my life in fact). Did you watch Saturday Night Live last night?
  10. No. I haven't been on any new-for-2016 coasters yet. Is pineapple your favourite fruit?
  11. Outlaw Run isn't down as much as it used to be, and when it does go down, it's usually back up relatively quickly. Powder Keg is the one that goes down all day, especially but not exclusively in the rain.
  12. That looks even better than I expected!
  13. No. Have you smelled a pine forest?
  14. No. Have you been to Beirut?
  15. He's going next Wednesday. Walk ons will abound, station waits at worst.
  16. ^ Around the beginning of September, give or take a bit.
  17. Because it causes people to think this is a good idea.
  18. ^ In that case, there's really not much immediately around the park. If you go north a bit, though, Liberty has a lot of things. It's mostly chain restaurants, but there is one gem there, Seva Indian Cuisine. It's fantastic. Not a sports bar, but absolutely worth the time and money. It's upscale but not terribly expensive, and everything is fantastic. Take I-435 north to I-35 north, then exit 56 at MO-152 / Kansas St. and make a left. It's 10-15 minutes from the park. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Seva+Cuisine+of+India/@39.2459775,-94.4668441,16.71z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x2189eeaa504aa21f
  19. No. I don't want to have to carry a car door around all day. Do you have any 5's?
  20. ^ Wow! They literally did half that wheel in one day. We were just there yesterday around 7 PM and they didn't have any of the wheel done at all. just the supports.
  21. ^ Considering their space and height restrictions, I'd say compact, low to the ground coasters are exactly what they'll be building.
