  1. Yes. Have you seen a complete dinosaur skeleton?
  2. MLS Cubs or Giants?
  3. Not usually, but I did like the Walking Dead at Universal Studios. If teleportation of humans were possible, would you do it?
  4. Yeah, for the first time since 2010, my Cardinals aren't in the postseason, so it really doesn't matter much to me this year. I'm looking for Cubs-Blue Jays myself, but the Indians are pretty hot, so we'll see.
  5. Oh, man, the original doesn't even compare. They've got about 3 dozen varieties of the funkiest hot dogs you've ever seen. So good.
  6. We'll be at Worlds of Fun in a couple of weeks for the Halloween event. Other than that, just SDC through the end of the year.
  7. I am a fan of Pink's, but that seems fair. I've been to both the CP location and the one in Hollywood, and I will say the service at the CP version is pretty lousy comparatively. I kind of expect that at CP, though. The hot dogs are great at both locations, so maybe I've just lucked out. I agree that a cold hot dog is pretty nasty. It just has to be fresh to be any good at all. So I guess it's just a matter of when they're on their game, it's great, and otherwise not.
  8. We're talking about the stupid roads you have to take to get to Great Adventure. It's relevant. But yes, I will admit to being an infrastructure enthusiast.
  9. I've heard that story, and told that story too. I don't know how true it is, but if the story's good, tell it anyway. I think just based on an amateur understanding of physics--and mind you, this is probably wrong--but Schwarzkopf's coasters didn't need strong restraints because the shape of the loop was such that the forces themselves kept people in their seats. In other words, the coaster design was it's own safety mechanism.
  10. Please get the f**k out of here with your common sense and completely reasonable solutions. This is New Jersey and we don't have time for your sh*t. Fine, then, I'll just keep my Midwestern sensibilities to myself when I come visit and drive on your f*cked up roads. Hey they're not my roads. New York (aside from the city) has pretty normal roads aside from the parkway system which consists of incredibly windy and hilly roads with super narrow lanes and excessive 55 MPH speed limits. They're fun to drive on though and there are very few accidents because distracted driving is a non-issue since they demand your undivided attention. Now that sounds familiar. The Ozarks are full of winding highways like that. If you ever come to Branson, the main road to Silver Dollar City, the Ozark Mountain Highroad, is seriously fun. There's nothing between US 65 and Mo 76 except for one exit, and the 65MPH speed limit is way too fast for some of those curves. Doesn't stop anyone from going about 80 though. I've never seen anyone pulled over either; I think Branson police are just happy traffic is moving.

  12. Okay, I get the concept then, but our J-turns are basically just the width of an extra lane. Those are huge. At that point you might as well build a bridge and just make it a clover leaf interchange.
  13. That's crazy. I think I've realized what the wiki was referring to. All throughout the state we have these things we call J-turns. It's a different design but basically the same idea. You go past the road you want to turn on, make a U, then turn right. http://www.modot.org/kansascity/major_projects/documents/JTurnsHandout.pdf
  14. Don't apologize. This is great information, since I have never seen or heard of a jughandle intersection, and I'll be driving in NJ next summer. On a side note, when this first came up, I read the Wikipedia article on jughandles, and I was surprised to see Missouri listed as one of the states that uses them extensively. My immediate thought was, "Where?" I know MoDOT loves weird intersections--we were the first ones to implement the diverging diamond in this country--but I've seriously never seen a jughandle anywhere in this state.
  15. ^ Try it with sushi and it comes alive. It's a beer that has to be paired. Peroni is like that as well. It's merely okay on its own, but pair it with pasta with red sauce, and it's great.
  16. Yeah, truth on Storm Chaser too. Haven't experienced Lightning Rod yet, but yeah, all the RMC's toss you around. That's the main reason they're so good. I love the reactions of people who haven't been on an RMC and they're puzzled as to why the restraints are so powerful. Then when the ride's over they completely understand.
  17. ^ Go ride Outlaw Run and tell me that the transition from the first inversion to the following left turn isn't as snappy as anything on Maverick.
  18. Well, let's be honest here: Listing things and ranking things is totally nerdy. I do it, but that's because I'm a nerd and I find nerdy things fun. Really, that you find something fun is the best reason to do anything. It only goes overboard when you start arguing with other people because they rank something differently. That's not fun for anyone, so what's the point? I don't really obsess about it. I've had a list of my favourite coasters and parks in my signature almost always. When I first joined here, I had been on 37 coasters, so it was basically a way of saying "Warning: This guy hasn't traveled much and probably doesn't know what he's talking about." It's still that way. I've traveled more now, but not nearly as much as some here have, and I'm certainly no expert. But I keep a list of the parks I liked and the coasters that I found to be the most fun. It's fun to me to update the list when I get back from a trip, as I get to think about what I just rode and remember other rides that were really fun too.
  19. Yes! We've got a very nice older man here who is a professional clown. He makes balloon animals at the farmers market every weekend and is available for birthday parties and special events! If you could make everybody poor so that you could be rich, would you do it?
  20. Awesome! Your Cedar Point trip report is one if the best, and this one is starting out pretty great. It's fun to go to places that enthusiasts love to hate on. Sometimes you find out that Magic Springs really does suck, and sometimes you find out that Valleyfair is really fun and these people are nuts for not having a great time there. It's all part of the fun of the craziest and best hobby there is. Looking forward to reading the rest!
  21. ^ Exactly. I guarantee you that Disney has put way more thought into this land than any Disney fans or coaster enthusiasts have. Once it's built, people will love it, and in a few years when it's changed again, people will whine about that and want it left like it's being changed to now.
  22. ^ Yes, other Disney properties, and it's always an upgrade.
