Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
JJLehto replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I still wanna try and hit LC this season since I expect Boulder Dash to be up. Shame about Wildcat. Even if it's not good would like to hit another classic. Guys think it'd still be worth going or wait till next year? -

Not liking the name...kinda lame and they are pushing the "zomg it goes over the gate" thing a little much But I am loving the ride! Looks like a great layout and I've not done a wingrider before. Already planning CP 2013 : D -

That'd be a great idea! Looked like such a great lil ride, shame it's closed -
I met one at Hersheypark. Caught him line cutting, I didnt even report him or do anything just mention to my friends, in a low voice, "line cutters, nice eh?" Guido had some eagle ears, every time we passed he "whispered loudly" homophobic slurs at me. I actualyl wish he started a fight with me, in line, so I could've had him banned, and the story that someone picked a fight in a coaster line haha Seriously, is there a place to organize meets or just make a thread? I really wanna do SF:NE and would like to not go it alone...

I liked Mantis, didn't really care for Chang/Green Lantern...though the standing didn't have much to do with it. Leave a tad bit of slack! Anywho I doubt it. People gripe about how they hurt and they don't seem very popular so I doubt we'll see more. IDK if this would help at all but maybe if they were designed to have a bit of move in the seats? So instead of crushing your crotch there's a bit of give? And maybe they shouldn't be too forceful...

How Much Is Too Much Airtime?
JJLehto replied to Lone Wanderer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There can be too much airtime!? Unless you actually fly out of the car your good, and as scary as it is (isnt that the fun?) no none has been flung out of blue streak, or any others I know. At least not just sitting there, usually tom foolery leads to accidents. Anywho yeah, until you fly out or red out there can not be too much. Back row on Grizzly at KD had some crazy airtime and it was awesome! Butt totally off the seat with just the belt and a looser bar holding you in! -

Yeah, I call it a woodie and of course as long as its a great ride who cares, BUT I do agree... Wood is wood for a reason. It has a feel. As does steel. There IS a difference. So while it's nice to have super smooth woodies and all, really might as well just be steel. That said, this seems to be mainly wood and at least it's not as bad as the SoB transition Also it looks so great! Especially those rolls. Beautiful. -
Not a chance. I noticed none really on Hurler (didnt feel much fo anything except some violent shots in the turns) while Grizzly in the back row...my ass was off the seat a godo 2 inches. Legit feeling of fear the first time! It has some good ejector over the drops, and some forceful turns. Honestly...I could say its my 2nd fav at KD...yes over Volcano :O

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Going to CP in a week from now! OK a week and one day. Just hope this 90some degree heat subdues for a bit. Parks have been brutal this year. -

And Im sure its madness will make up for its short length. I mean 153 degree banked turn, on the outside. 9 moments of airtime, double barrel roll. Excuse me, changing pants. -

Yeah 68 mph and under 3000 feet of track? Its gunna haul ass and I hope those rolls dont maverick on us. Or worse, ya know fall apart Hell yessssssssss. Now I just need a justifibale excuse to take my vaca in Missouri. -

And yeah...I'm partial to more "traditional" woodies. I mean if they loose their identity too much might as well just make steel. Still, good to push the envelope and at least is mainly wood. Unlike to SoB which went completely to steel for the loop lol -

Sooooooo when's the TPR trip!? I don't have it in me to go to Missouri for one coaster/park butt...maybe a show me state party? SF: St Louis, WoF and SDC? Well I need to ride this thing, and ideally ASAP near opening since I fear it will tear itself apart in no time -
What is your next park?
JJLehto replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CP in under 2 weeks! Great Adventure sometime in September and Im hoping to do SF:NE and Lake Compounce this year. Is there a way here to officially plan trips? I dont wanna solo too SFNE it can be helped -
Yeah same, it was a bit of a let down but I just stopped thinking about it and it was fine. I mean there was still some floater and that twist was still pretty abrupt! Can't imagine what it was like before they "upped the bite" as some have said. Agreed, I found it very re-ridable. Hell I could've all day. I thought the soft restrains were great, no shoulder soreness till near the days end, and I didnt even grey out that badly. Awesome ride

I'll judge officially in 2 weeks when I go to CP but I305 may have overtaken MForce as my favorite coaster. 11 times on Saturday, including 7 in a row during ERT, and it was f-in awesome. Was told by so many people how there was little airtime and not sure what ride they had. 2 strong ejectors on the first 2 hills and even had some floater on the trimmed hill and following. Was so forceful and intense and the twists were not as violent as I expectected, though still epic. What a ride! Sadly I had to leave early to get home for a wedding the next day but the trip was still worth it for the ERT and how many rides I got in! Can't wait for future TPR trips, thanks everyone.

Who killed Geauga Lake?
JJLehto replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is it possible they killed themselves? I only went once but the park was completely dead and frankly I wasn't impressed. It had some good rides and all but eh... not sure I've ever felt depressed at a park haha I agree with some of the comments that it may have grown too much for its own good. Too big too survive. Hell you're an hour from Cedar Point, a local park is the best you can hope for -

I was a bit let down by the length (or lack of) but it should more than make up for it in intensity. Layout is short but wicked, and I hear speed is 68 mph? Also it's cool RMC is starting pedal to the metal. I mean SoB that single, all steel, loop but a double barrel roll?? Crazy Yes it will be.
