Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Agreed, never felt such things on any other coaster, (though also true coasters are not for all and even some coasters arent for all!) If someone doesnt like they can just avoid. Softer restraints are way better though. And the only issue was I guess my fault. I like to wear bathing suits to the park for the freedom/less sweat/to quickly hop on water rides... but on the first drop the Gs pushed my restraint down another notch and yeah...with just swim trunks and the netting being there it was a bit, tight! >_< -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
JJLehto replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holy crap! We all really do share ideas! I've always wanted a new freefall! It was such a fun ride, and I figured it could be taller like over 200 feet, and use their magnet brakes. Would be way smoother and the freefall even more intense. Also that's a cool idea with the drop towers. For maximum mind****ery I'd have like 6 cars that are lifted at once, all facing in towards each other, and then each one falls at random. Imagine sitting waiting, no idea when, and having to watch others fall first! -

People will NEVER be satisfied totally, and it must be part mental. New restraints were great. It is a shame that Skyrush is so short...it could easily be my favorite coaster if longer. Those negative Gs! Lots of positive Gs, what a fun ride. Dude, yes! Back row was just wicked. I had floater over the top and extreme air going down the drop. Not sure I've felt such a thing. -

What is your next park?
JJLehto replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hershey is a great place, probably my second favorite park. Knoebels...it's been years! Real family place but I remember loving the 2 woodies there! My next park is hopefully Kings Dominion with the TPR crew. This damn job I've been waiting for is really starting to drive me nuts. Not only is the waiting agonizing but if it takes too long I may not be able to afford KD! *chain of profanity* Cedar Point August 18 and 19 is happening, and I am stoked! Finally will get to ride Maverick after being denied twice (once thanks to a crappy group of park goers) -

Awesome! I forget when I went to KD...Hypersonic XLC was still pretty new I remember. I'm stoked to be going and finally riding this beast known as I305. -

Seriously, the lines for Skyrush have not been that bad. They move really quick, and even on opening day it was only 45 minutes later in the day! Went on 6/30 and the waits were under half an hour all day (though it did break down once). A friend of mine went a this weekend and said he managed to walk on once, and the waits werent bad overall. Could be luck of the draw but really for a new ride they havnt been bad! Deff best to hit fahrenheit early. The line is ALWAYS swamped! I dont get it....I wasnt a big fan (shrugs) -

Great pics, and I'm excited to finally get to this place and ride Bizarro. -
You should read the last 10 pages or so where we've discussed at length the awesomeness of the ride and the surprisingly decent (not great) capacity. This covers both responses to me, I'm a lazy ass : P But fair enough, I should've at least read the previous 4 or 5 Well glad to hear, especially about the load times. Makes more excited for Cali next year, and especially Discovery Kingdom. Also found a good POV, looks more forceful than I imagined too!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

You rode Skyrush 5 times? And not one compliant about how bad your thighs were hurting afterwards? Could it be that the park finally fixed their R-E-S-T-R-A-I-N-T-S for that ride? Or it could be that the restraints really aren't a problem for some people. I didn't find them to be painful at all, and I rode it six times in a day. Or, he just isn't a complainer. Combo. As I just posted, I honestly had very little issue with them and yeah, I'm not a complainer. (Unless its really warranted). I was actually a bit miffed how much whining I heard but all our bodies our different. We were fine, I heard some people actually had trouble walking! Regardless, the restraints did feel better 2nd visit. -

And did you ride anything else, or just spent the day riding nothing but Skyrush (Which I wouldn't knock down because as a rider and amusement park flyer you can ride what you want and skip out what you don't want to ride. I tried doing that to the Merry Derry Dip, but I end up quitting after five times; all those steps can be a killer )? "Hey, why not do marathons with me? I'm sure you will find it relaxing!" Well I've had this talk on CF...I guess my thighs are a beast. I went on opening day and honestly, it wasn't that bad. There was some soreness on ride, and it lasted for like 15 seconds after...but I thought people were really making too big a deal of it. My one friend is a bit big and even said it wasnt thaaat bad. However, they HAVE indeed fixed the restraints! Some people on CF said they were and I can verify. My second visit they were far better. I had literally no soreness! Rode it 3 times in a row that day, once from back row wing and I was A OK ! Edit: Why do you think maybe I rode nothing else? We actually did every coaster except Fahrenheit! (I dont count roller soaker). The Skyrush line moves quick. -

Agreed about Skyrush, I did notice a good bit more air on the drop in back row. One of the few times I let out a true, full scream! Intense floater over the top into that 85 degree drop. Also you need to ride the wing seats. Those flicks are intense. Cool stuff AJ, graduated myself but I miss those PSU days -

Oh yeah deff, if you're not a fan of rougher rides I wouldn't recommend it. ha But I'm a masochist like that. I would agree front with Storm Runner but just because front any launch is fun. -

All personal of course but for woodies I always take the very back. If you like a rough ride, back for Wild Cat is a must! That's the only time I focus on seats, usually I just take shortest line. Hershey can be tough, I've see crowded summer days but my most recent trip in June was under 30 minutes for every coaster! However, we have had some success with doing the park in reverse. Going to the far side with Wildcat, Lightning Racer etc and move towards the front. Sometimes we've dodged the crowds entirely with it. Edit: Oh, the area with Skyrush is just a naturally crowded area so be warned. The line for Skyrush can be deceiving too. The queue is real short, so if it extends way past it dont be put off, and it moves quick. -

Not much to say, just wanna mention I love Hershey! A childhood memory, (my Uncle live in Harrisburg and we went often) great park, still small-y but lots of great rides. Been twice now, rode Skyrush 5 times and hoping for another visit. Wasnt sure at first but absolutely my favorite coaster there! Shame HP is so cramped, would've been great if Skyrush could be longer..it would probably be my favorite coaster. -

Agreed, think it looks pretty cool. -
I can only vouch for my experience (which was in 1999) but it was epic. Also I was gunna say these shows really used to be better, like one every year with the hot new sh!t. MForce, X, TTD. Before that Superman at SFMM, Riddlers Revenge etc But also I'm having a realization moment...as a kid you like everything. Now, I see these shows by nature are kinda silly and thanks to the internet any surprise of a ride is lost on me
