  1. Maybe it will stay closed for refurbishment as long as SF Stl's Carousel. It's been being refurbished for literally the entire life of my child. She'll be two next month.
  2. So I paid the $50 or whatever it was over the Winter to renew our season passes. I got a confirmation of purchase, and nothing since then. So do we just keep using our current passes for admission? Also, I'm assuming our pass is only good for our park, now.
  3. Herschend parks as well. Love it.
  4. Bro. It's April. The give-a-fux are blooming with the beautiful Spring freshness. They'll all be gone by late June. Obnoxious guests and butt sweat season will wipe away the charm, here and everywhere.
  5. No. No, not really. No, not really at all. No. Nah. No sir. The ride operator isn't responsible for understanding how the ride functions. The safety authority trained that as long as the green light was on, it's gud-tah-go. The green light was on. The harness was down to an extent. The ride also said "gud-tah-go." Hit the flashing green button, as trained. Keep those fingers a' point'n, though. As long as it makes you feel better. "SoMe One NeEdZ 2 gO 2 JaLe" Because that will fix everything. Hell, lock em' away right now am i rite?
  6. Vest restraints? The whole park is ruined now.
  7. Since I haven't been on either of them, I'll be like most people and make my judgement based on YouTube. With that considered, the verdict is they both suck and The Goliath at Six Flags is better.
  8. So basically the typical summer crowd?
  9. You just offended all of the DC Comics characters.
  10. The World's of Fun thread has officially had more activity since 2021, and their big announcement for 2022 is much needed track work on their newest roller coaster.
  11. All of this activity in this thread made me think Worlds of Fun was finally getting something exciting, like new planters or a walkway.
  12. Florida doesn't have enough control over social media and other major information outlets to launch that kind of cover-up. The state, and individual investigators, have a lot of liability if they get things wrong. Comparatively, there's not enough money, politics, or social influence potential in Icon Park for the effort. Sad indeed, but undeniably so in part because people can't talk about certain things, despite their logical application, without taking it personal or being offended. I can't think of anything said here that has been over-the-line. The incident itself seems strongly related to body type, whether the possible fault of the ride operators (unlikely to an extent), policies (or lack thereof), and/or ride design. Don't factor in his personal lifestyle choices that lead to his body type. If it were an overly thin person, and the accident was related to that, the conversation should be the same. Don't manufacture a prejudice that currently doesn't exist here. As far as some other obnoxious users on social media, I don't know why you would let idiotic comments effect you so much. If it does, they're obtaining their only goal, which is eliciting an emotional response from you and others. You have to let it go, or you'll eat yourself alive. In any applicable situation, if I'm a ride op, not offending anyone is second to death. Curse at me, call me garbage, threaten to harm me... I don't care. Feelings set aside, you're not getting on this ride, because I care about you as a fellow human and don't want you to get hurt. Despite the gripes, I don't think that's ever a bad thing. I think the primary purpose is typically another failsafe of determining which body types are unable to safely ride. I'm a fan of this, extra load time, train stacking, and convenience set aside. These are all just stupid rides made for entertainment, who why not make them as safe as possible. (to an extent) I always rolled my eyes at people who cried about seat belts, or even vests. 99% of these complaints come from hardcore enthusiasts, and I doubt the target customer couldn't care less.
  13. No no no no no. Wrong. Not being honest with people is exactly the kind of shit getting people hurt. The fear of hurting someone's feelings, or being labeled as a "fat shamer," could have very well contributed to what did him in. In certain circumstances, "facts don't care about your feelings" absolutely applies. I have. I've seen people make scenes and yell at ops on multiple occasions.
  14. Hopefully the trim brakes on The Beast hit harder than ever, just so all of the enthusiasts lose their shit.
  15. Kings Island is a fine example of what a corporate park can be. They do so many little things such as upkeeping iconic attractions like Beast, Racer, and Carrousel, while adding or restoring minor touches most corporate parks wouldn't care to do. Kings Island really cashes in on nostalgia, even with such minor details as hidden easter eggs in Mystic Timbers' shed, the SOB eternal flame in Banshee's queue, and going as far as repainting and renaming Flight Deck to The Bat. Not only that, but the park sells these things from a marketing and PR standpoint so well. Cedar Point is removing old attractions and replacing them with mediocre food venues, while Kings Island finds huge success just by adding what would typically be an outdated attraction like the Antique Cars. Despite the mega-park Magic Mountain, I still believe Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a strong contender for best park in the Six Flags chain. Likewise, as far as Kings Island goes with Cedar Point in Cedar Fair's line-up, I think Kings Island is the best single day park in the chain, if not one of the best in North America. I can't say enough good things about Kings Island. I'm glad I'm within six hours of it.
  16. ^Thanks for putting this to rest before shit really got out of hand.
  17. I find it ironic that a morbidly obese person is complaining about circumstances being deadly, as if she hasn't looked at the deadly health consequences of her actions. The newest movement is referring to thin/fit/healthy people as entitled or privileged. #1 leading cause of death in America: Heart Disease. Talk about "deadly." Although I'm sure it's probably "someone else's fault."
  18. I personally don't have a problem with the park opening up, but my tolerance for these sorts of things is higher than most. It's like... what is the industry standard for how long to stay closed "out of respect?" Pace yourself. When it comes to jumping to conclusions, it's not a race.
  19. I had. No idea... Boomerang wasn't new.
  20. 2022 Subaru Forester, replacing my wife's 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. The amount we locked in on our trade was ridiculous, and allowed us to close the gap to have the new one paid in full. If you're willing to wait, and you have a trade, now may be the time to buy new.
