  1. I hope you're right. I gain nothing by winning an argument in this thread.
  2. Great points. Here's my take. Absolutely. This plays into what I'm saying. My concern is that the experience/service/product is all going to feel very much the same, and this is a big step toward that. This may not matter quite as much to the consumer who isn't interested in traveling anywhere outside of their regional market, I agree. However, that's not good for the people desiring a diverse experience by traveling, and it can eliminate incentive. We may not be significant in percentages, but we are vast in numbers. If World's of Fun ends up offering a very similar experience and ride offerings to SFStl, there isn't much of an incentive to travel. It's numbing. On top of that, you'll pay the same high price at WoF as you will at STStl, because they can more effectively influence more of the norm. It's a reasonable expectation to pay $300 per ticket, when most other parks charge that much. Maybe they don't care if those who can't afford the $300 tickets attend, because there will still be enough consumers willing to pay. Less guests/higher cost/less crowded parks sold as a "premium experience." This can result in the same or higher profit with as much effort as they are willing to put into guest experience... because they control the standard of guest experience. Lower the expectations and increase the prices. It may not work all at once, but it's a step in the right direction for people looking at numbers completely disconnected from the parks. Shareholders couldn't care less. It's not dissimilar to the food service industry in general. Restaurants are feeling more corporate and less diverse. The conglomerate owners don't eat at TGI Fridays, Texas Roadhouse, or Applebee's. Their concerns are focused less on consumer satisfaction as they become formula/profit driven by those who don't care. I'm somewhat of a car guy. Even the automotive industry is just turning copy/paste automatic transmission focused designs for models that were once considered enthusiast cars. There are fewer standouts as companies start to merge or partner. Performance numbers and outputs are very oddly similar. Subaru partnered with Toyota. Toyota released the GR Corolla, which is a fantastic machine. Although there were some outside contributing factors, the Subaru STI got killed for this chassis (FML). Many critics praise the GR Corolla as 'feeling' very similar to the STI, but modernized, which would have obviously been the natural progression of the next generation STI. Those are my concerns. The probability of the theme park industries impacts are anyone's guess, but they are by no means unrealistic to those of us paying attention.
  3. Why not just ask the source? I asked ChatGPT5, "How will artificial intelligence (AI) be able to assist with roller coaster designing and engineering?" I got this last little bit when I first asked, "How will ChatGPT5 be able to assist with roller coaster designing and engineering?" We'll be the assistants. Are they really going to need 100 engineers after AI can do calculations that took people months to do in a matter of seconds? People say that's not possible, because we have to check and make sure AI isn't making mistakes. But, what if you have two separate AI programs double checking each other? Isn't that called a safety redundancy? Aren't safety redundancies pretty common in the industry? It's dollars and cents. People will lose their current jobs. The optimist on my shoulder reminds me of the mass fear of job shortages when computers took over basic functions completed by humans. However, the tech boom actually created jobs. The pessimist on my other shoulder says the masses will be on universal basic income within the next ten years, because they won't have a damn thing to do. If you're not following the AI boom, do it. If you have the availability to get involved in AI integration at your current positions at work, do it now. Be part of it, not a victim of it. If your job and only skill is data entry, you should probably enroll in trade school to be a plumber or electrician. Those jobs will be harder to replace... and the country needs a lot more of them in the immediacy. On a somewhat related personal level... I'd scrap my hard earned degree in a heartbeat in order to wire new buildings and not worry about a fucking thing once I clocked out. Pay cut be damned. There would be no emails to check, text message inquiries on my days off, court standby, or calls at 2:30 AM to put on my shit and come in, because someone just got deaded. Here's to the AI boom. Cheers.
  4. Kings Island guest believed to be hit by roller coaster after entering restricted area One teen guest commented, "i just think it's crazy how like some people i don't know just don't think enough to kind of like hop into like where you're not supposed to be to like risk getting hit by a roller coaster."
  5. Hay man! Us fulk frum Illinois resint yer statemints about the superier corn mayze! I kid. But seriously guys, thanks for all of the great advice.
  6. You're settling for the potential to pay more and get less out of gratitude toward a massive corporation. The objective is to make more money, not primarily to make the product better. If the product gets better, it's only a means to an end, and always short lived in the corporate entertainment industry. The people shaking hands on this couldn't care less about quest experience as long as revenues are high. Most of them don't really give a fuck, down to new innovative roller coaster designs to the paint on the queue rails. If company research indicated they could actually earn more money the more miserable the guest experience, they would adopt the strategy of keeping the guests as miserable as they could, for as long as they could. Shit. When did I start talking about the 21st century medical industrial complex? Two companies had separate creative visions and growth strategies. This was already diluted by financial greed, as per usual. It's natural and unavoidable, but at least you had two similar, but different products to choose from. Now, for those who liked Coke, but disliked Pepsi, and those who liked Pepsi, but disliked Coke, they're stuck with Coca-Pepsi. Meaning, now in order to enjoy what you already like, you have to have more of what you don't like. My glass half full... I deeply hope that Cedar Fair can elevate the experience offered by Six Flags, but I'm not optimistic. My expectation is that the more juvenile cheap copy/paste themeing and neglected details of Six Flags will spill over to Cedar Fair.
  7. Not me. It's 2024. This is a way to streamline profits, and nothing more. It's all going to blend into one characterless soup of consolidated debt and product duplication without competition. Maybe eventually a company like Herschend will grow bigger and emerge as the new hero, if they don't get purchased first. My families' interests and priorities sway more and more from theme parks every year, which leaves me over here shrugging my shoulders and saying, "Well, I guess this is the end..." (or at least a little closer to it)
  8. I'd love to, but it just comes down to time. I could use our extra lounge day to explore, but we wouldn't be taking full advantage of the resort with the absence of our daughter.
  9. Wow! Yelp looks great. Thanks! Thanks! Jamestown Island/National Historic site for sure. Walking through Williamsburg might give us our fill, although we don't mind paying extra. I don't really understand the draw on the Governor's Palace. It seems to be a pristine replica. There just doesn't seem like a ton we want to do there. We're fascinated by the Jamestown history we recently reviewed, and the extreme hardships faced.
  10. What a way to close the night. Thanks for the warning.
  11. I never found the park to be very busy at all. But, it's been several years since our last visit and we never go near holidays. The longest waits I've seen are for Lightening Run from the afternoon into the evening. I never witnessed more than a station wait on Storm Chaser. May the odds be ever in your favor.
  12. My wife and I are visiting the park Friday, 07/19. First time in 7 or so years at one of our favorite parks. Our little girl will not be with us, so we're primed for our rare time to ride the big rides. It's bitter sweet. We always get QQ Unlimited, and we plan on doing so again... Or at least I do, unconditionally. Is QQ still a big time saver? Are there any restrictions for QQ on Pantheon, such as the number of rides allowed? Equally as important, we want to visit Jamestown and Williamsburg. We're honestly more interested in Jamestown than Williamsburg. Is it possible to cram both of them into one day? We're in the area for three days. We want to take advantage of Kings Mill Resort and lounge by the pool for a day. Here is our agenda: Tuesday - Fly into DC and get to the resort early evening. Wednesday - History Thursday - Take advantage of childless relaxation. Friday - All day at the park. We're very clean eaters, so a cheat day at BGW will make us feel like trash for at least a day. This is why we must save BGW for our final day. My wife and I have spent 4-5 days at BGW, but we never explored the area. May I please have some tips on must visit places to eat and history suggestions? Thanks
  13. 1) I wonder how many people got triggered when she said "The Maverick." B...) Is this and upcharge attraction? I'll pay for it.
  14. Land clearing followed by rebar and concrete pouring with pinpoint accuracy. -vs. - Bolting prefab steel into place...
  15. Schnitzelbank authentic German restaurant. ^^ I can't imagine going to HW World and not visiting this place. It's always a highlight of our trip. Jasper, IN has a lot of decent restaurants, but you CAN NOT miss Schnitzelbank. It's about 20'ish minute away. I'll ask Robb nicely to ban you if you don't go. Be aware, Jasper is in a different time zone. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn last time, which was a very nice hotel, but expensive. Fairfield seems to be making a run as a middle-upper class option. We found it comparable to most Hyatts and Hiltons. I suggest taking two days at Holiday World. Go one day for the dry park and one day for the water park. I understand this is not always possible, but it's ideal in my opinion. Go to the German joint after the water park to avoid shirtless bloat the following day, lol.
  16. Makes me wait in anticipation even more for Six Flags to put its stamp on Cedar Fair.
  17. Eat at Roosters. Cold beer and bomb ass chicken wings/strips.
  18. Am I the only one who sees the irony in digital menus at the 1904 Hotdog location? If anyone hasn't been to Grafton, IL to ride the Alpine coaster, it may be worth it. You have to take a chairlift to the top. You can eat at the winery with a fantastic view and typically live music. Our four-year-old-daughter didn't want to ride the alpine coaster. I made her, despite my wife being reluctant. She loved it and wanted to ride two more times after that. It wasn't a cheap day, but oh well.
  19. I think you're being serious, but I can't tell.
  20. Can't common sense play in as a factor, though? This is like the Facebook argument someone tried to start with me saying every single animal's life is just as valuable as a child's, because we're all in the mammal species so we're all equal. (I actually just deleted my Facebook app again because of it...) At a certain point you have to put aside the technicalities.
  21. Quite the opposite for us in 2018. I'm looking forward to eventually being able to enjoy it.
  22. The last three times I went to Cedar Point, I went in mid-June. Just shoot for whatever is available first from Sun-Friday and go from there. I don't think you're going to get nightmare scenario (pun intended) Halloween event FL situation where you will wait over an hour. Will you maybe wait 30+ minutes for some rides? Yeah. It's Cedar Point. But, with 3 days of FL, you can take your time and get everything in. The alternative is to go earlier in June when the park isn't open as late, and just make the most of it. I'd personally rather ride less and have 10-10 to come and go from Breakers as I pleased, and not get to ride as much. The combination of Breakers, Cedar Point, and FL is a well rounded experience regardless. If less rides and 'a little' more wait during the day means I get to view the park lit up, so be it. I always take my chances on that. My other advice is when (not if) you see Maverick's FL spilling out into the midway, just pass by and check it again later when you're in the area. That FL queue is either feast or famine. Good luck with your health problems. I hope they don't get in the way to the point where you can have an awesome time. I'm not a fan of long narcissistic TR's anymore, but I'd definitely like to see yours when it's all over.
  23. Just looking at the schedule, I'd go Sunday 06/16, Monday 06/17, and Tuesday 06/18. All 10am-10pm operations. If you can swing it, just do FL for all. How often do you get to go to the park? We don't even ride a ton, but when we go to the parks we always buy FL+. We can walk around end enjoy the park instead of waiting in line. If I had to do without it for one day, I'd pick the middle day. Just chill by the pool or something. Beer/cocktails included. FL or bust. Life is too short. (if you can responsibly afford it)
