All the people complaining about having to wait too long don't realize they can just wait 6 hours, so what's the problem? Pay more, wait less. They're willing to pay, but they still have to wait. (for more than one ride) I personally couldn't give two shits about this issue, but the complaints are about paying a lot of money and only getting one ride on the premier attraction. Is it consistent with past practices in some cases? Yeah. Does it suck? Yeah. -

The same crew that is finishing SFStl's carousel refurbishment is doing KI's. It should be done by 2027. -

Unless you want to do the water park, one day is enough. I'd do any day but Saturday and get an Fastlane. (I always forget the "+" is not a thing anymore.) I'll say that the secret is out with Fastlane here. Even during Haunts we wouldn't have more than a five minute wait. During last year's Haunt we waited 30 minutes for Diamondback, 20 for Orion, and we never ended up riding The Beast. The line was well past the building when we checked several times during the night. We only moved about 20 people in ten minutes. Judging by how fast the standby line was moving, I legitimately think it would have been much faster. You always get your bang for the buck on Mystic Timbers and Banshee. No matter how busy the day, I've never waited more than 5 minutes. On lesser attractions like Adventure Express and Racer, I've never had more than a one train wait. If you want the fastest food service, LaRosa's only takes a few minutes. It's a lifesaver after crushing some beers. Enjoy. -

Wow. It was a joke. I thought you would find it funny, actually. -

Good to hear it will be open, because I'm tired of people making jokes about the reasonable delay. I'll miss Kim and I fiercely defending it. -
Makes sense. I used to read all of the TR's.
-
^ Damn! Glad you're OK. Sounds scary. Is it messed up that I actually think I remember seeing that picture on your original TR? Or did you not post it and I'm remembering wrong? I used to live on this place, so I've seen a few TR pictures.

I just watched a video from a reputable source on youtube. In a nutshell, an alarm in the control system was triggered during the launch. The brake fins on the launch track came up, as they were supposed to during an alarm. The last brake fin on the launch track was misaligned, due to poor maintenance and fatigued bolts. The train struck the brake fin on the way forward, which caused it to not have enough speed to clear the hill. The train rolled back and struck the newly damaged and even more misaligned brake fin. This caused the magnets on the train to become damaged. The train rolled back and hit an empty train (I think) in the station, forcing the empty train out of the station. No deaths were reported, but there were multiple serious injuries.

I just took a moment to appreciate the fact that no one I socialize with would care about new benches or routine maintenance at Six Flags. -

It may have been my misinterpretation, but I don't think that was the context. I interpreted it not as, "look what we have done" but rather, "this is why we can't do more." But again, the majority of people won't care about seeing new paint brushes and toilets. Most of the routine maintenance SFSTL has been doing over the years hasn't been post worthy. I would scroll right on past to continue trolling Subaru group members who put massive wings on their WRX's. God, I love doing that. -

Most people don't care about this stuff. Neither do I. You're going to dilute what entertains people. which is something to look forward to outside of cutting the grass, getting new handles on the shitters, and long overdue general maintenance. It looks desperate when you have to explain to people how hard it is to maintain a business. It's propaganda to lower the customer's expectations. Imagine the slogan change from, "McDonalds; I'm lovin it." to "McDonald's; we're working our asses off, so you shouldn't complain." Caring about general maintenance and upkeep is something enthusiasts enjoy. Planters, paint, and things that used to look like shit not looking like shit anymore improve the general atmosphere as a whole, but most people aren't going to notice or care about the details. You're pulling weeds and painting. You fixed broken toilets. Look, new benches. Good for you. -

I don't know anything about Cedar Point being cheap. (FL+ and Breakers are mandatory for us...) Even if Ka was smooth I don't think it would be as thrilling as OG Dragster. The shoulder restraints are a buzz kill. It also felt like the launch characteristics were numbed. Dragster had that feeling of the instant snap of letting go of a rubber band. Ka's acceleration felt much more reserved and linear to me. It was a one and done for us. -

Redesign their problematic design in the first place? -
HOOOOLLLYY SHIT! Severely strained MCL and bruised bone. It likely will not heal on its own for a long time, so I got a steroid shot in my knee, I'm prescribed anti inflammatory medications for ten days, and a healthy dose of physical therapy. I can get on my skates in as early as a week, as long as I take it easy... which is going to be difficult with my personality. The doctor told me it looks like I dodged a bullet. He said it pretty much just wasn't healing on its own and that when it finally did, my muscles would have been imbalanced unless corrected with a longer period of physical therapy than I have now. That horse needle on that massive shot tho... holy shit. I took it like a boss though. I called off work tonight since I'm supposed to take it easy for the rest of the day. My Lieutenant didn't give a shit. He was just happy I won't be out for six months. Hopefully, I'll feel strong on my skates again soon. I'm very relieved and thankful. It makes me realize at nearly forty years out that I need to dial it back a little. This could have been much worse.

I hope it rattles and is uncomfortable as hell, just to piss enthusiasts off. At the same time, I hope the general public likes it that way, which will also piss enthusiasts off. At the very least, let's cross our fingers that it's "accommodating for large riders," so we don't have to read Facebook comments from people who binge eat while binge streaming bitch about how "only 'skinny' people can ride." -
The forums are dying and that makes me sad.

I can. It hurts when I wake up and when I sit down for too long. It also becomes unsteady. Kneeling down on it is out of the question. Even sitting with my legs crossed hurts it. I've had minor trouble with my left knee for the last 20 years. I think because of it, my stride has gotten steadily worse. When I hurt it this past time, I was hauling ass into the boards trying to beat another skater to a puck. I lost, and we went head on. I'm not really sure where the knee was in the equation. I couldn't skate on it the rest of the night, which is not like me, even when I get hurt. I tried to hobble on it for a couple shifts about 30 minutes later, to no avail. I had to crawl down the stairs when I got home, and even had a lot of trouble pushing the clutch in on my car. I woke up the next day and it was fine... wtf. Then, a couple months later it started developing worsening symptoms and here we are... Treadmill running for any longer than 5-10 minutes really agitates it. I would not be comfortable sprinting on it, whatsoever. I've found that stretching it daily before icing it 10-20 minutes helps. Keeping it strong and doing light resistance training on it makes the biggest difference. I can't do traditional squats or free weights at my home gym because of this, so I've been going to a local Planet Fitness once or twice a week for leg day. I can do the stair climber and use the lower body machines, being very careful to apply an equal amount of force in both legs, pushing much less weight than normal, and cautiously using proper form. This has taken a lot of the pain and instability away for everyday function. Completely dropping my lower body resistance training and resting made it feel worse than anything. I was very unstable and each step hurt. Stretching and making sure that leg doesn't lose strength seems to help a lot compared to not using it. But, it just gets to a point where you can only do so much to fix it yourself. I've still been playing hockey once or twice a week, but at a much slower and cautious pace. My knee is very loose until it warms up. Once it does, I don't have nearly the speed and agility I used to. Guys who I used to skate circles around can now either keep up, or catch me. When I quit playing for a few weeks it almost felt worse. Inactivity has always amplified my injuries. I heal drastically better just by reducing the frequency and intensity of workouts, until everything is back to normal. Sorry for the narrative. It's kind of consuming me, since I'm a very physically active person. I'm religious with exercising 5-6 times per week. Hockey is a big part of my recreational life. I organize a first responder team that participates in, and hosts charity events. I also hosted weekly pickup games, but all of that has been on hold since the beginning of November. It took me well over a year to fully recover from my rotator cuff repair in 2020, and here we are again. I'm really hoping it's a meniscus tear instead of an ACL. A severe strain/sprain is unlikely, given the month I initially rested it not helping, and the noticeable loss of strength. It would be the miracle I'm hoping for, but the doctor said he thinks it's my ACL. That's what my MyChart after visit info said, as well. They do all of the work for the STL sports teams, including the Cardinals and Blues. They repaired my rotator cuff, which is only about 75% of what is used to be, with frequent pain. I hope they're wrong about the ACL, though.

I had a bad hockey collision a few months ago. I've been nursing my knee since then. Yesterday, I had an appointment with a sports medicine orthopedist. He's pretty sure I tore my ACL. I'll know next week when I go back after my MRI. Fuck.
