  1. We went to the park a week or so for a two day trip. HW is great for families. I was never much of a fan going with just my wife and I in the past, but HW offers so much for kids. The only roller coaster I rode was Howler, which was our daughter's first roller coaster. Not a good starter... It was jerky and uncomfortable as hell. As soon as it stopped she was trying to get off. "I like it, but it's scary and I don't want to ride again." Fair review. I guess this kiddie coaster will be one of many "new credits" I will get, since I didn't whore them as a grown man. I made a sign out of a standard sheet of notebook paper and magic marker that said "#1" and "First roller coaster," so Eve could hold it while we took a picture. The employees and other families on the train were excited for her. I resisted the urge to say something like she had about 200'ish to go until she caught up. (because no one cares) Self control. Speaking of self control, the only two places that sell booze are a stand by the wave pool in the water park, and from what I was told, the restaurant in the Thanksgiving section. They had standard canned domestic beer, along with basic margaritas and a couple other cocktails. It made it way less worth it to drink. I only started midway through the day on our second day, after Eve pissed herself in the food court in front of everyone. Just when you think you're potty trained... Anyway, it was a hike across the park every time we wanted a drink. That's smart. Makes it a lot harder for people to get loaded, and we only had a few drinks in a few hours. Not even worth it, in retrospect. The place had a couple good shows for kids. There was some kind of Holidog dance party where the staff threw out beach balls hula-hoops, and other crap for the kids to use to participate. She met Holidog, the alligator, and the eagle. In one of SEVERAL kids water areas, they had a dance party where the kids did limbo with the actors, there were foam cannons, and and it was genuinely a good time drinking a shitty weak margarita and watching it play out. nother thing to add, the massive indoor restaurant near the front was awesome. There was a lot to choose from and I didn't expect to be able to snag chicken breasts and a salad. There were several healthy(er) options to choose from, and the food was decent. I didn't ride anything by myself. Thunder bird was my only temptation, but I didn't want to cut away from my family. It was too much fun watching Eve exhaust herself. She's now obsessed with log flumes, despite only riding it once. That, and every hill we go on in the car is now a roller coaster hill. Our two-day trip to SDC should be fun in a couple weeks. We also booked a trip to SFGam in August. Eve will be up to four parks and six roller coasters by the end of the year. Holiday World is a fantastic jumping off point to get your kid into this sort of thing. I finally get the true appeal they're going for. My only head scratcher is her not being tall enough to ride Gobbler's Getaway, yet she can ride things like Sparkler and Log Flume. Oh well. Not my park, not my rules. We grabbed a Holidog stuffed animal on the way out, because I buy our child too much shit. He's still a favorite around the house, though.
  2. Whizzer has a 36" height requirement, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't want to prioritize that. It's one of the reasons we're going during a late August weekend, so I hope it's open. Fun fact: There are three coasters at this park with only a 36" height requirement. That, and other rides like Log Flume, their swinging ship, and the raft ride. This place rocks for kids!
  3. How close does the Trailblazer pass get you to the front of the line? I'd like to get the basic pass so I can ride just a few coasters without making my family wait long when we visit in a couple weeks.
  4. Some of us pay twice the admission to ride only 10 times a day and spend the rest of the time relaxing, while not waiting in line. Worth it.
  5. If I had someone trying to explain the inner workings of something I didn't care about, I probably wouldn't pay enough attention to understand, either.
  6. You'd be better off emailing the creator of openRCT2 than annoying park management about a hummingbird themed ride. Glad to hear Dollywood is considering a lift hill. I just hope they don't try anything innovative, to be honest. Just keep it simple so people can expect the ride to be open. Make a tribute to the old lift by doing an eternal flame near a "This ride is temporarily closed" sign..... It may have been worth the drive just to see all of the coaster people get upset at the answer to the lift hill question. Side story: When I was a kid my friend shot a hummingbird with an airsoft pistol. Although I was sad, I couldn't help but admire the skill I witnessed.
  7. The content here is moderated and you actually have to read to get information. There's no clickbait of spoon fed, often false, that caters to the modern day low attention span. Getting rid of social media on my phone and turning real paper pages of novels has helped my attention span. It's also amazing how much time I have saved, leading to productivity. I also realized two things about sharing snaps of vacation, possessions, etc. First, most people don't care. Secondly, it can often be an unintentional, or intentional, form of boasting. "Look at me, I'm at a beach house." "Look at me, I got a new car." "Look at me, I'm riding all of these cool roller coasters." I do often miss SnapChat, but I know I'm better off without it. Luckily, I refused to ever get Tiktok, because of it's addictive qualities.
  8. I'll take the snakes dude. I'd rather drink beer with him. but I think you got trolled.
  9. Just spent like over $300 for fucking Dixie Stampede tickets. Kids. Front row upcharge so I can smell the animal shit.
  10. Since everyone else said it, I'm going to add that this really fills the gap between Howler and the other roller coasters.
  11. I miss the days where there would have already been 10 picture posts and a lot of comments about the ride the day after it opened. We're a dying breed.
  12. It's possible, but you never know if there was a last minute "oh shit" moment that caused the delay.
  13. It's not relevant to how important it is. It matters if they paid money under the pretense that they would have the opportunity to ride before the general public. I can see a reasonable person not being happy about that.
  14. https://fox4kc.com/news/emotional-roller-coaster-promised-first-riders-of-zambezi-zinger-say-ride-has-already-been-used/ Lol yeah... That's kind of bogus.
  15. "Laughs" Doesn't signal a large thrilling roller coaster.
  16. I like that guy's non-technical narration better than most coaster videos I watch. No cringe.
  17. They have white water rafting trips there that only take a few hours, from parking your car to leaving. I highly recommend it.
  18. Maybe Holiday World's coasters will be tolerable now after a few beers.
