The challenge would be the question "so when did you make the choice to be heterosexual?" We're everywhere! I think if people are comfortable with the environment (ie 'gay friendly') then more folks are more likely to NOT stay closeted. Which is good, it sucks having to avoid life questions out of fear (like "are you married" or "do you have a girlfriend?"). As for people who call this hobby "gay," how weird would it be to call a hobby "heterosexual" or "straight"? That's lame. The whole "that's so gay" line is dying a slow death. The only people that should be using that line are gay people (and maybe South Park - that is a venue for teasing everything). I would never go around saying "that's so black" - it's not my slang word to use. Totally agree with you man... A little slang is fine, but something like "that's so gay" isn't right to say now adays due to ppl becoming more accepting. Speaking of acceptance, just wondering... Did anyone on here get into coasters as a way to get away from bullying/teasing?... From being gay or any other reason ppl might tease someone... I remember when I was like 10, & I stared getting into coasters, rides were kinda an opportunity for me to get away from it all. Anyone else feel the same?

My fav has to be the Chance Zipper.. it may be sketchy, but hey, it's fun and intense, with lots of airtime and crushing Gs. Plus, They're nearly everywhere at carnivals, meaning that when the fair comes to town, I can ride it without having to drive across the country like some other larger rides at permanent parks... Speaking of permanent parks, I've gotta say that my favourite permanent flat, not at a carnival has to be the giant frizbee style rides, with the Mondail Revolution being the best model i've rode so far.

I'm straight myself, but have no problem with people who are not... that's their choice, not mine. As for the amount of LGBT users on here, that's great, especially if someone is being a total @$$hole, and calls this hobby (coaster riding) "gay", as people could always come up with some witty comeback to put them in their place

Ya, same here, always had other interests, and barely eveer talked about rides w/ friends... Only time I ever really said anything to correct people or really said anything somewhat nerdy had to be when at parks with friends, or whenever we wen to stuff like the carnival... and usually, that was a good thing, as some of the ops were impressed with my knowledge, and would give my friends and I extra long rides/ extra cycles

It's never been too bad for me, in terms of getting teased or anything for it... although I had to put up with countless stupid GP comments and bite my tongue for it to stay that way lol So, if any of you are teens or in HS how's being an enthusiast gone for you?... or how was it if you've graduated?

My biggest question after reading all of these crazy posts is.... Why thehell are there so many football players on this site?.... Seriously, it's a website dedicated to ride/coaster nerds.... Nerds & football, @ least from what I know, don't go together. Guess it proves that we're really not all that bad if like half of us on here have made some kind of sports team... including myself (not football)

Totally sounds like a GP comment, kinda like the "age limit" on th13teen. However, if it's real, that'd be pretty cool though Also think it's funny how, as enthusiasts, we are the people who criticize rides/parks for having gimmicks, however, when we don't get a gimmicky element, we're disappointed.

We usually nerd out but have fun. I'm always at the park with fellow TPR members these days Hearing GP stuff at the park provides some nice conversations at the table afterwards when grabbing dinner. Well, guess my experience is a bit different than some, as there really aren't many enthusiasts in my area, or who I know personally (only know a few online). Also, whenever I go to parks or carnivals, I always go with GP (their pretty smart ppl tho, so usually don't get any comments worth mentioning on here ), so ya, going with a group of GP vs. enthusiasts would change the experience I guess.

You see, my friend is possibly going to the carnival this weekend. As far as i know, they are a total GP, but will ride any of the flats (there aren't any coasters there) that are set up there. However, there is one acceptation... they will not ride the drop tower (ARM Super Shot). Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, as the fair sets up behind my house each year. However, this year the fair is across town, meaning that it's really only worth going once, and it's not like I can go back and ride the tower later. So, I'm really not sure what to do. I don't want to ditch my friend and ride, but, the tower hasn't been to my town in 5 years, and my town is absolute S*** in the ride department, so this is actually a pretty big deal that it's here. Do you guys have any tips on what I can say/do to help them get over their fear?

Well, in regards to trains, since it's larson rehabing the ride, maybe they'll use from their ring of fire rides lol... it is a "loop" ride afterall, and I guess some people could call it a shuttle (ring of fire) lol. But seriously though, it's always great to see a new ride get rehabed.

Holly S***! Was that booster-type ride in the second picture on the right able to run?.... if it was, I'm surprised it hasn't tipped over already. As for me, I've been pretty fortunate not to have really visited very many ghetto parks... worst I can think of is probably the carnival that comes to the mall/fairground in my neighborhood.

Well, I'm a bit disappointed now, hearing that people have heard all of this stuff from GP while in line... It seems to me that whenever I'm at a park, I'll never hear any good stuff. It's almost making me want to go to the small, sketchy carnival across town this weekend just to hear a few good comments lol. I heard a guy try to convince everyone he was with that the Bat, a vekoma boomerang, didn't go upsidedown... the worst part was, he was standing right in front of the ride at the time. iN terms of people trying to sneak into parks, I have never seen it, and never done it myself, at least at the larger places.... I did manage to get free rides at a local carnival by using an old all day pass from the year before, and the carnies didn't care at all. Sadly, when i attempted this again this year, they were onto me, and I was kicked out for the rest of the week they were there

When you go out of your way to ride EVERY ride you see... even if it's something small and run down, such as the carnival, or opening day at a small park with only 1 or two rides worth riding, and if it's like an hour across town to get there.

Ok... if it can't be coaster riding and park hopping, I have to say... CARNIVAL hopping and FLAT RIDE riding!... @ INDOOR PARKS! Lol Seriously though, I have to say it's probably running.

Which continent's got the best flats and coasters? IMO, I really don't know, as all of them have their strong and weak points. For example, Europe's got amazing flat rides, however, they don't have parks like CP or SFMM like North America. So, what's your take?

Gotta say that the chance Zipper is the best. It's got everything, including some amazing airtime, as well as Gs when going over the ends of the boom.
