  1. For me, it's ok to use ANY word in the privacy of a converstion - where you know the other person knows what you are trying to communicate and are cool with whatever "bad word" we might be using. But I always make sure no one else can hear me. I've gotten on people with the whole "thats gay" thing... I usually just turn to them and smile and say "I'm gay." They usually turn white and say "well, I didn't mean it like that" or some awkwardness to get themselves out of the situation. Then I remind them that they never know who could be listening. I know some people like the idea that if it's not your word, don't use it.
  2. If you have a catwalk step (complete with old rusty nails sticking out) from the CP Blue Streak along with your family keepsakes. Glad to not have been stabbed by those nails.
  3. ^I think so, too! The ride is shaping up very nicely.
  4. Thank you. Very well said! It's good to have opinions If we all had the same likes and dislikes, and thought every new ride was perfect, that would be lame.
  5. Thanks Tim, loving this! So cool for the flyers to be in the movie, wow!
  6. ^We tend to be... passionate. Ok, some of us more than others
  7. ^There are all sorts of people. We come in all sorts of colors and shapes. All sorts of mannerisms, likes and qualities. There are people that seem stereotypically gay, but are heterosexual - and people that seem stereotypically heterosexual, but are not. And then everywhere in between. It's almost the standard that LGBT folks live part of their life in some sort of closet, but that is getting better over time I've met people that I thought were most definitely gay, and turned out to be heterosexual. Add to that the continuum between homosexual and heterosexual, and you get an infinite number of orientations.
  8. Wildfire: Is it a twister? You bet it is! Is it an out and back? Yes. It is a terrain monster? Yeah, that too. Is it a woodie? Sure. Is it a wooden hybrid? Yeah. Categories don't matter so much when it's a great ride. The more outside defined categories we get with coasters, the better! I think about some of my favorites like Mind Bender and Legend. They're a little bit of everything
  9. We all know it's freaking massive, but is it any good? bad, I know.
  10. After riding Zippin Pippin at Bay Beach, I bet it's safe to say that Gravity Group/M&V could built a long-term winner. Build the old Zingo (which was a great ride in it's own right) and add a little ... you know, that thing they do. That airtime thing.
  11. Which is a more comfortable ride (restraints wise) - Intamin woodie or RMC woodie? I haven't been on Outlaw Run. I'm sure plenty of folks could answer this question though
  12. Ahhhh my favorite the Kennywood Thunderbolt. Just the thought makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Not only are these excellent lateral forces (including on the last turnaround, when the ride is running extra fast!), but you get to enjoy them in a classic manner; no seat dividers and it's crush time for your riding partner! Legend at Holiday World also has great lateral forces. You're encumbered a bit with the seat divider, but still a favorite of mine. And you can even enjoy pseudo-classic lateral time on a classic steel coaster such as Mind Bender at SFOG. The individual lap bars sort of have the seat division built in, but not enough to keep you from sliding over that hard plastic foam seat and squishing your riding partner! Coaster heaven right there! Coaster perfection...
  13. ^Amen. My favorite wood and steel coasters both have lifts under 100 feet.
  14. What is especially cool about Wildfire is that it is NOT steeper, taller or faster than Goliath. It wouldn't matter either way, as there is no close "competition," but I just think that's cool. They are going for a nice and long quality ride. We all know that height, speed and angle of descent don't make a ride...
  15. Love this video! Reminds me of my grandparents riding carnival rides with me in the 80s; helping me spin the Zipper cars and all. I think people are built differently now. What's the PC term for wimp?
  16. Um. no. RMC is more like the Intamin of the wood coaster industry. Pushing the envelope and making people go WTF when they see one of their designs. If they were building mildly thrilling that feel exactly the same over and over again, then they'd be the B&M of the wood coaster industry. Actually, I think GCI has already claimed that position! YES. Thank you! I love B&M* and GCI, but they use the same moves and "force envelope" in repetition. They are great rides and a smart choice for parks, but from a spoiled coaster nerds POV, they just don't have the long term excitement or personality. RMC looks like they are building world class rides. The roundabout at the top of Wildfire's lift looks like a smart move. Let people hang out up there for a second and contemplate how high they are and what they are about to receive. (*B&M = Bland & Mediocre? hehe, just kidding... heck, I'm going to ride Banshee next week!)
  17. Looks great! I would have added a pre-lift section, but that's hardly a complaint. From top of lift to brakes is a full minute; impressive!
  18. I guess RMC knows what they're talking about when they say the "Best wooden coaster." Can't wait for this!
  19. ^Thank you I'll play around with it. I keep telling myself to just ditch RCT2. It's such a time suck, when I should be toying with the new NL2!
  20. I can't speak for Robb, but my point was that Cyclops was the last to start falling apart - because it is not that big or fast. The bigger faster coasters were in horrible condition for years... Cyclops just took a lot longer. Bummer
  21. Luckily for my tastes, Cyclops is not much of a 'big' coaster. It seemed to hold up over the years pretty well... but even it has started showing serious signs of neglect last summer.
  22. Anyone who takes care (to the fullest!) of their current coasters
  23. Me! I'm B&Ms biggest critical critic, but I'm happy to be going, and looking forward to the ride!
  24. If they do close down... I will sorely miss Cyclops.
  25. They could just get a really good "medium size" drop tower like the 150' one at Knoebels (built by ARM?) Now that's a scary ride! But I know... people need numbers...
