  1. ^You can also look at it as 6 giant inversions in a dirt field. (Plus a helix, curve and an admittedly good drop.) Bigger and faster isn't always better. They wanted something that will get people in the park and make them money. They got it. Everyone doesn't have to be ga-ga over it. Can't wait to ride Batman at my home park
  2. The supports can be cut at the level that RMC needs them. There is so much to work with there. Texas Giant and Mean Streak have/had basically the same large, roughly triangle layout. It would just be a matter of RMC cutting down huge parts. (Funny how we're talking about this like it's already happening!)
  3. ^Aaaaaannnnd that exact song came on my ipod on the way home The math of the Universe is working! Clouds/fog + coaster!? Heck yeah. Beast memories...
  4. In the Clouds. Maybe they should rename Spacely's David. (^Looks like we had the same idea. "In the Clouds" is also a song by the Cult. )
  5. ^There is no head banging, obviously, and it's very nice that they don't ratchet down and lock tighter (like Gatekeeper, after the adjustment). But they still try to hold you back. It's a trade-off for me. Better than a Vekoma vest, but I wanna see lap bars only.
  6. ^Big JW fan here. Female Trouble is my favorite. They're all great though! "Would you like your spaghetti with or without cheese?"
  7. What color is the other train going to be? Nice to have an orange train back in the park
  8. Adding (or designing from the start) things like trenches and tunnels (and perhaps a pre-lift section) aren't necessarily theming. Those things make a ride better, a little more world-class in my book. Some of that would be nice. But it seems building HUGE coasters in dirt fields works for em. Whatever
  9. I took my baby cousin on Demon when he 5 and barely made the 42" requirement. Couldn't keep him off it since. Your daughter will be very safe; I hope she enjoys it!
  10. ^Oh good. Mantis is getting sit down trains with lap bars only? The yellow, red and purple Mantis never quite did it for me
  11. "Edge of Seventeen" is available on Netflix instant again. Great "coming out" story about a kid that's working at Cedar Point (Crystal Waters in the movie) in 1984. I worked there 91-93, and they really got the feel of the era right (plus or minus a few years). There are shots of the park, in the park, etc. It was shot after Raptor, which you can see in the movie. (Scwabinchen porn at 1:49!)
  12. You're in good company I was watching "Girls will be girls" last night. Also on Netflix instant, this movie that takes place at Cedar Point (Crystal Waters) in 1984. It's a coming out story, go figure! It's so strange, they nailed the feeling of working at Cedar Point and all the strange and fun stuff that goes on there. I worked at the park 1991-93 (had my first boyfriend there!). The movie was filmed after Raptor was built (you can see it in a distant shot), but they really got the 80s feel down. Including the quality of film they used to make the movie. Strange but great stuff! Here's the trailer:
  13. Goliath sure looks great from inside the park! It's a very intimidating looking ride. A real Intimidator, you might say
  14. I remember the American Eagle being in the paper when I was a kid. They used the entire page, similar to this, of a head on of both trains going down the drop. Gotta love topper track detail in a major newspaper
  15. ^In a tourist trap like the Dells, yeah. I looked at Trip Advisor and found a great little mom & pop motel that had great ratings - and turned out to be a great room for a couple nights. It was called the Black Hawk motel. Looks can be deceiving!
  16. I know many of us have probably seen this clip in one form or another over the years, but I've never seen it in such good quality: Just wait to you see the midget clown holding ladies over the air jets! How far would that get today? The same youtube channel has a few coaster/park videos (amongst their collection of over 81k videos!) including another video we have seen, but again not in this good quality. Rye Aeroplane Coaster:
  17. ^Heart warming thanks for sharing that. Every little bit of "good" or "love" does get to someone. (Now I'm thinking of that scene in Donnie Darko where the teacher is demanding that Donnie choose if the situation is Love or Fear hehehe.) On a side note, just saw this on facebook and had to share it:
  18. Yup! Plus, the RMC metal ledgers are already on some of those bents if you look close
  19. Do yourself a favor and ride Wildebeest and Mammoth. Those are two (water) coasters everyone should experience. Real airtime on Wildebeest. Splashin' Safari won't be open this Saturday, but maybe you can get to them next time! Hope you have a great first trip to Holiday World. Don't miss the green beans!
  20. ^You will, Bobby!
