Elissa's Random Thought of the Day!
WillMontu replied to SharkTums's topic in Random, Random, Random
The only time I ever write checks is for sending in TPR trip deposits and DVD payments. I use debit/credit for everything else. For paying the bills, I do it all online and the bank takes care of the rest. -
I currently use a 64 bit version of XP. It runs fine for what I need. I tried Vista on my laptop, but wasn't very impressed, so I reinstalled XP when the hard drive crashed. I personally have not used Macs recently. The last time I had to use one was back in high school on some G4's running OS9.

ERT doesn't need to be after hours. On the UK trip, BPB closed off both Big Dipper and Grand National during regular park hours. http://www.themeparkreview.com/uk2006/blackpool/blackpool4.htm

Random note about posting a Photo TR
WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks. It will be helpful for when I do my Photo TR's. Also, will it possible to do links in captions? (ie. E-mail Dan! mrt0ad13@aol.com) -
The Credit Whoring Experience
WillMontu replied to ThemeParkCommando's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To get on PF you need to hit the park as early as possible. Usually they don't open that section of the park until a while after opening the front gates, meaning you can get a few rides on Hulk and Spidey before heading to the flyers. I posted a TR of Erik Johnson and myself getting this coveted credit, but it got buried very quickly. -
I was able to visit a few Orlando parks in the last week, including all four Disney parks, Universal, and SeaWorld. Some of us have been to DisneyQuest once or twice, and it was originally planned as a method to bring Disney to larger cities. DQ is basically a theme-park-in-a-box, with a few attractions and a lot of arcade games. I have seen very few DQ trip reports posted here, so here are some pictures I took during my last visit The first DQ was the Orlando location at Downtown Disney. Shortly after, a second location went up in Chicago, with a third location under construction. The Chicago location did not perform so well, and it was closed down later (the third location was scrapped). The Orlando location remains the only one still operating (and even its future is uncertain). Here's one for the Linux (and penguin) fans out there. These used to be used to control the RC vehicles through the maze. Each vehicle had a camera mounted to it. Now it is just used for conventional video games Lost Treasures of the Inca was an interactive remote control vehicle attraction. The infrastructure is still there, but the attraction is not operating anymore It's a little bit like the Jungle Cruise at the Disney Parks, only without a skipper and without animatronic animals Virtual Jungle Cruise consists of rowing an inflatable boat through a virtual jungle Pirates of the Caribbean is a 3D interactive game with of five players (one controlling movement and four controlling the cannons). The more enemy ships destroyed, the higher the score Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride is also a VR attraction If you're into 20th century technology, Ride The Comix is a HMD VR attraction It's more a simulator/game type attraction though They still have their Alien Encounter attraction though Some attraction have been modified and/or removed over the years. Had the original design been successful, every DQ location would receive new attractions on a regular basis. The simulator in action The ride itself consists of a small two-person pitch-and-roll simulator. If you like hangtime, this is the ride for you! There are several of these simulators to increase capacity CyberSpace Mountain is a coaster simulator. The design is relatively simple, consisting of selecting elements (ie. vertical loop, cobra roll) and then "riding" your creation. Jeff Johnson could spend all day here counting the millions of combinations of c Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters is a bumper-car type attraction, however the cars can pick up and fire balls in the playfield. Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam is one of the central attractions to the arcade section DQ used to have a DDR machine, but it was removed in favor of Pump It Up machines The RCT pinball game was in slightly better condition than the one at Blackpool (this one was level and the LED display was working, but the right flipper kept sticking). Where is Cameron when we need him? They had a "drum game", similar to what Robb and Elissa played in Japan Including sections for old-school arcade games (Asteriods, Galaga, etc.), DQ has pinball games, air-hockey, and others The top three floors mainly consist of arcade games, such as these linked Daytona games. All games are included with admission Like any theme park, DQ is loosely separated into themed areas Upon entering, elevators take people to the third floor, which is a "center point" of DQ DQ is basically a theme-park-in-a-box

I'm still in the area, and nearly all the parks have been packed over the last few days. So packed that even MILF had a 20 minute wait. I may hit Animal Kingdom, and maybe EPCOT again in the next few days. There are still people around with red shirts, but fortunately I haven't seen anyone making out in the bathrooms.
-
...And I was over at EPCOT looking for you. I ended up getting sidetracked by the Donkey over by the German section, Gary Sinise, and the Double Decker bars in the UK section. I will probably be spending some time with Good Tower today and maybe the original Vekoma Box Coaster. Photos coming soon Spaceship Earth...THROUGH THE TREES!

Why does the page give me a feeling of Deja Vu? (besides the poll and such being broken) -

Robb could create a good Photochop contest out of this Imagine Peoplemover: The Movie -
I'd like to see how they implement the crashing (being a common occurrence while playing the game)

Phrases or Things that make you Cringe!
WillMontu replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Random, Random, Random
Poor grammar and spelling (especially txt spk and double negatives - don't have nothing -> do have something) Girls screaming when on a coaster -
If your name is Jeff Johnson, you will count each seat as a credit Others will count dual tracked coasters as two credits Some count separate dual tracks (ie. WDW's Space Mountain) as two credits Many count dueling coasters as two credits (ie. Gwazi) Some count powered coasters as credits Some count water coasters as credits (ie. Journey to Atlantis) Most of us do count kiddie coasters as credits For more about credits, check out the Dictionary/Encyclopedia sticky in the Random forum. Don't forget that Joe has four credits!

BonBon Land TP & Hankatten Construction Photos
WillMontu replied to Dane's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice Photo TR. $20 for a Pepsi? Coke maybe, but Pepsi? What bodily function is Hankatten supposed to be themed to? -
My camera started working again when it realized it was back in the United States. It got a little bit wet on Kali, and ceased to function after that. Never mind the first time it died was also at Animal Kingdom, when all I did was take it out of the bag and attempt to load a tape (I had to send it back twice to get it working again). It was a lemon from the start, and I have a new camera now.

There could also be some kind of heat related issue in there too. Dust out the fans (especially the CPU), and make sure there isn't too much dust buildup.

Was there any turbulence on those flights? It would be a good sign because Turbulence = Airtime! -

Thundercoaster at Tusenfryd. Got to ride it in the rain on the UK trip, and it was insane. It was also quite smooth (not like Balder, but smooth for a Vekoma ride)
