  1. Heres a completely different perspective. Just got back from my first ever experience of both as I was on holiday (vacation) from the UK. First park was SFMM. To keep it brief I got lucky from what Ive been told so far. The rides were nearly all fantastic and there were loads of them. Every single one of them was open! Plenty of coaster variation with so many different styles. Schools had gone back and there were barely enough people to form a gang so I cant comment too much on clientele. Food was quite good. Theming was atrotious. Gotham City was OK. Staff couldnt give a hoot. All looked bored and disinterested. Only one show and it as closed. Next, Knotts Berry Farm. Fantastic park. Theming was much better, not great but certainly good. The shows were great especially the Wild West Stunt Show and the Saloon show as I ended up taking part!! Rides were a good mix. XLerator and Silver Bullet and Supreme Scream for the extremists, Boomerang and Montezumas Revenge for the slighly less brave, Sierra Sidewinder for brilliant family fun, Roaring Rapids to get damp and Riptide to get drenched through to your underwear!! Ghost Rider was closed but I think its opening for Halloween Haunt. Cant recommend Sierra Sidewinder enough went on 7 times! Food was OK and shops were quite well priced. Camp Snoopy Land was good for kids and big kids. So to summarise I only have the benefit of 1 park from each provider. Based on that I would say if your with a family, KBF representing CF offers a great all round family day out. MM representing Six Flags offers a fantastic day of high adrenaline extreme coasters for the teenagers and wannabee teenagers!! If I had to call it I would go with Cedar Fair
  2. Taking the warnings seriously so looking for a plan to counter the queue jumping. Considering buying the 80 dollar per person Thrill Pass. Are these a solution to big lines and line jumping? If so I'm willing to fork out the cash.
  3. Im actually looking to get max credits!!! Although X looks amazing I thing Im going to prefer Tatsu. Pretty much set my stall out for SFMM and Knotts now. Thanks again for the fast, varied and informative responses that have helped paint a picture. Zip up pockets at SFMM will be order of the day!
  4. all got messed up. i am able to do parks as follows - September 7th, 10th or 11th. So based on the schedule its the 7th with jetlag. lovely! We went to Orlando in April and everything was open every day.
  5. Thanks everyone!! Now mega confused but one thing stands out. What do you mean by open weekday before September 9th! I'm going on the 8th or 9th!!! Do you mean open on the 9th or that its closed on the 9th and I need to go before?
  6. Crikey! Lots of varied opinions. There will be 2 adults and no kids on this trip. So I personally feel Disneyland will be pretty much the same as Magic Kingdom in Orlando and Legoland just a bigger version of Legoland in Windsor, England. Thats not a bad thing but I think they will be quite kid orientated. Thanks for warnings about 6 flags. I am really keen to go on X and Tatsu so will be gutted if they are broken. Why is the park more prone to getting my wallet nicked than any other? Never heard of Knotts so lookid it up online and its 50/50 with Universal. Again, did Universal last year in Orlando so as things stand it looks like day 1 Knotts, day 2 Six Flags. One other question - how busy will it be on a weekday in September? The week Sep 6th to Sep 13th. I'm guessing kids are in school and there are no American holidays that week. Thanks again
  7. Hi folks. I'm on a quick trip to California in September on my hols (vacation) from UK. Doing a bunch of stuff and will be based in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. Have time to fit in two parks so going to do Six Flafs Magic Mountain and one more. Probably Universal Studios. Be grateful for any top tips on rides not to be missed and even rides / parks to avoid! To give you an idea what floats my boat, my favourite coasters ridden are Kraken, Hulk and Nemesis. Favourite non coaster ride is any top spin thing like Rameses Revenge at Chessington. Thanks!! I will of course try to do a review of my trip.
  8. I'm 39 and my first coaster was Corkscrew at Alton Towers in 1983 or 1984. My son is 15 and he just road a bunch of coasters on holiday (vacation) in Florida. His first was Kraken, boy he looked scared! My wife is 38 and road her first coaster on the same vacation. It was Aerosmith Rock N Roller Coaster.
  9. What a crazy but fantastic idea! Having rode Oblivion here in the UK and had my only floorless experience on Kraken at SeaWorld the idea of combining them seems as scary as it can get! Doing California this year but tempted to stop in Orlando for 2 days on the way back. Didnt do Busch last year and Dragons at Universal were closed for maintenance. Awesome video and pics Eric. Good job.
  10. Found this site by accident when bored at work and been hooked since. Been a coaster fan for years, first was Corkscrew at Alton Towers in about 84. What I was wondering i can someone clarify the references to credits. I'm guessing its a credit for each coaster ridden? What if I ride a coaster more than once? What if a ride is coasterish? Such as Atlantis at Sea World, Orlando. Thanks for putting up with such a basic question and I look forward to meeting some of my fellow Brits at Camelot for the Media Day.
