  1. "I wonder if WDW will go ahead and just start replacing their entire fleet for newer models and ones that have greater capacity, maybe like the ones at DLR (the Mark VII) but longer, wider, and with AC." (EnglndPatriots6) WDW's monorails already have greater capacity than Disneyland's, and always have. I was told once that they are built to transit standards, whereas Disneyland's---while certainly viable people carriers---are more or less an amusement park ride. But they've always been as such because Walt simply wanted to showcase the technology. WDW's from the get-go were meant to move large amounts of people throughout most of any operating day. Eric
  2. Honestly, the best thing to do in a situation like this is to get people away as quickly as possible. Many people want to help, but not everyone knows CPR and/or other techniques to treat someone who's injured. Better to let the pros take care of that. As for the electricity, I'd guess that the system would be powered down ASAP, though I don't know how long it actually takes. And, of course, some electricity may be "stored" within the motors or vehicle before it can be discharged (the same way that you can pick up static electricity from walking on a carpet). As Kim Pedersen always says on his site, The Monorail Society (a great site, by the way), monorails are safe and efficient transportation. It is too bad that there aren't more of them in major U.S. cities. Eric
  3. ^ Yeah, but can you Handel it? Eric
  4. Dare we even try to bring up safety on our highways? The WDW monorail is INCREDIBLY safer than that, and we continue to drive cars, don't we? Disney will figure this out and make any needed changes to get their system back to operation as soon as possible. As for front seat rides, that may be suspended for awhile. I did get one back in 2006 between Epcot and the TTC. I wonder if they'll make changes to strengthen the cab portion of the trains, similar to what some commuter lines are doing to their cab cars (used when locomotives are pushing the train from behind)? While I doubt texting or cell phone use was an issue here, I do agree that it is becoming a problem more and more (the September 2008 Metrolink crash in Chatsworth CA comes to mind). My sympathies are with the family of Austin Wuennenberg. Eric
  5. No, there's just a pile of cobwebs under there... Have you gone bowling this year?
  6. I picked up a TPR pen last Sunday at the Termination party, so now I won't have to buy another pen for, oh, about three years... Eric
  7. ^ If this is your first visit, then I hope you have a great time and get to ride everything. We've bashed the park over the years, but I find a visit there quite enjoyable, to be honest. Eric
  8. ^ Sounds like you're going to kick the Bucket, huh? I have an Image Shack account. Nice that it's free, but I'm sure the same problem would occur. And ditto for almost anything else (Picassa, SmugMug, etc.). I've not posted many pictures here, but as long as Robb provides the space, why not use it? Eric
  9. I've been hit more times than I care to admit by something more people should be hit with. Common sense. Eric
  10. "They gave me an ice pack." (jds03) That was cool. Eric
  11. After a flock of seagulls flies over, then, yes. Were you at TPR Termination Day last Sunday?
  12. Great reports so far, but why only one picture of Nikki? Camera shy, perhaps? But I guess I can relate... Anyway, Diana will be 21 in 2011, and we're starting to discuss a trip to WDW/SeaWorld/BGA/IoA around that time. I've done all but SeaWorld, so that'll be a treat. Eric
  13. POST NUMBER 6335, BABY!!1!! Got THAT out of my system. We now return you to your normal randomness. Eric
  14. ^ Actually, that paint has been there since sometime last year, if not earlier. Who knows when/if the tower will be painted. There are too many other more pressing needs there right now. But it would look cool in red, blue, and yellow. Eric
  15. "...they do seem to have the TPR green wristbands on!" Do geese have "wrists?" Eric
  16. ^ Nice video. That really captures the coasters of the park. Eric
  17. I'll be 50 in just over a month. What'll happen to me?!? We'll just see about that... But what a strange time...so many celebrities lost in such a short amount of time!
  18. Me? No, but maybe him. You've all heard of the burning Bush... Do you collect coaster parts?
  19. Great event; very glad I went. Terminator is great during the day, and out of control crazy at night! I was hoping to see Jay, but never did. However, I did get to speak to Neal for a few minutes at lunch, and I let him know that Terminator is a great addition to the park. The party was a blast, too, with the usual good eats and fun. I sucked at the SFMM trivia, but had a good time anyway. One fun moment was when some of us created self-service audio on Train 2 (whose sound was out for some reason during night ERT). A few of us simply yelled "HERE THEY COME!!!" at the top of the lift, then "TAKE THE TUNNEL!!!" just after the station flythough. West Coast Bash, Termination Day...they keep getting better. We can only dream of what's in store in the years ahead! Eric
  20. ^ You almost gave new meaning to the phrase, "fire in his eyes." But I'm glad you're OK. Whatever you were doing, I hope now you can see the error of your ways. Eric
  21. We've done this before, haven't we? Anyway, if not, then my screen name is the initials of my first, middle, and last name. Eric
  22. "Bring your bathing suit and come hang out in our pool tomorrow at the party!" (Robb) I'll be at the party, but I'll kindly spare everyone the sight of me in a bathing suit... Eric
  23. ^ You will like Terminator...trust me. I'm intrigued about Knoebels Flying Turns if it opens. That looks like a blast! Eric
  24. I've never been hunting, so...no. Are you good at Photoshop?
  25. ^ Think "joke." Eric
