  1. It's definitely a consistent theme I'm not a fan of the JL rides but I am looking forward to seeing the impact this one has on the park. Seems like a fantastic choice from a reliable manufacturer so I think it'll be a big hit. It would be great to see that area increasingly populated by more flats over the years. In fact, the whole area would be well served to house a kind of modern carnival environment — updated, high-capacity classics with solid lighting and whatnot. Completely agree...I think this will be the first step to opening up that area to additional flats in the future...we can't bash the park for years for a lack of flats and then all moan and groan when they head in that direction...this has been an eyesore portion of the park for some time with little to nothing to offer other than upcharge attractions and an empty outdoor theater...
  2. How we wish we had Gold Striker and not Apocalypse....we know what you meant...but the subtle change was humorous...
  3. O.K. CP Seasoned Experts and Fan Boys, hit me with your knowledge...So Cal resident taking my youngest to visit UM in late Oct (21/22)...flying back to LA on the 24th which leaves the 23rd wide open to potentially hit CP...I notice the only Hotel with a one night Option at this point is Castaway Bay...is this place decent and do they have a shuttle? We appear to still get the early entry option even though its 'off-site'...we have no interest in the indoor water park so strictly a CP blitz if we make the trip down from the Detroit area...hard to pass up a visit since we are never that close...what are crowds on a Sunday of Halloweekends? Give me your best recommendations...
  4. I'm sure many on this site over the age of 30 are familiar with the book 'Ready Player One' which is both social commentary and a homage to the 80s...(thus my love)...we grow closer to the world in this book each day....
  5. Not a single part of this TR has changed my "I want to be Robb Alvey in my next life" opinion...what an awesome trip, pics, and overviews for those of us stuck in the US for the Summer...keep them coming...I think I just spent an hour of my Sunday enthralled by these parks that I've seen countless TRs on in the past and yet it was like the first time seeing them.
  6. Congrats on making Opening Day and thanks for sharing with many of us who will never make it there...
  7. Happy to post it was Ghostrider and that it was awesome and fun and without any pain!!!
  8. Got in my first (hopefully of many) rides on the new GR this AM in the back row taking advantage of the early entry for Pass Holder event...I knew it was going to be good based on the trains coming back ahead of our ride and not one person holding their head or back or grimacing in pain...it was even better than I anticipated...fast, smooth, and a whole lot of fun...its been so long since I road this coaster and had fun and w/o some back pain induced jarring...my son had never ridden this coaster in its glory and could not believe we were riding the same coaster of the past few years...by the time we exited, the line was 2+ hours long so we were one and done today....but I cannot wait for ERT on this in September and hopefully a few night rides this summer which is next on the list...get out there and enjoy it....easily the best on the West coast again.
  9. Anyone know if GR was operating today? Weighing a trip out tomorrow night after work vs Sat or Sun AM early entry for season ticket holders...
  10. Can you please tell me where and how to ride X2 without getting thrown around like a helpless rag doll? Inside seat, Row 4 or 5...but really depends on the train and how long since its been over-hauled...
  11. These are truly dark days when the Dollywood Thread has been reduced to the banter of the last few days and weeks...a very nice park by most (almost all) accounts (hell I visited when every coaster was closed due to low temps...crushing my heart...and I still had a great time) is now overpriced and lacking while they build one of the most anticipated coasters of the year that appears to still be opening by Memorial Day weekend (the official start of Summer vacations) and they are still trashed and now the ride lacks force with a gimmick lift...smh... Now back to your bickering...
  12. Unfortunately Knott's is the same way now. I went on weekday last week and all the roller coaster lines were close to a hour wait with mostly one train operations and super slow dispatch times. it should not take two to three minutes to get a train out of the stations. Are you referring to a Friday? In the month of May? That is crazy school group time...if its Mon-Thur, then I'm shocked to hear those wait times before Memorial Day weekend...
  13. The sheer joy and jubilation this would cause would even surpass the despair and gloom suffered by Guy in the Dollywood thread...there would be no tears shed...I will now standby as someone professes their undying love of Boomerang...
  14. I'll admit I only check this post for Guy and his insight...or is it his torment?...
  15. so June 9th or 10th might be a good day to hang out at the park...
  16. Hit the park for a few hours last Friday with my son...why do I manage each Winter to forget about the May middle school and choir trips to the park on Fridays?!? Ugh...seems like there is still plenty of work to go on Ghostrider but Ghost Town looks great...I think the park is headed for a busy Summer...we did hit the newly opened Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner on the way out...unfortunately I did not have my phone but it looks great and has a very nice wide open entry area now...and...a bar!! While I love the food and nostalgia, I'm not sure it worth the price these days...but the biscuits...oh the biscuits...
  17. Just so you know, its not just AAA...my Company, and many, many others here in So Cal are also included in the same deal on the same day...happens twice a year...so its busier than usual during the day (i.e. not dead) and crazy for the Private Party portion.
  18. Great TR as always...you both do an outstanding job representing SoCal attractions to the rest of the TPR world in a fantastic, and comical, style...always enjoy your take on our local attractions.
  19. I've asked the same ? each and every time I've been to the park since TC opened...I think I actually wrote it on a card during WCB but probably left before it was answered...I understand the capacity argument except they don't ever follow that same logic anywhere...ever...it also seems like a fix they could put into place now if they really wanted to and could avoid the endless complaints they must hear...(I know, they can't hear...)...sigh... I've been somewhat lucky on duels...but not of late...it feels as if they've given up on that concept which I believe was predicted almost one year ago...
  20. Happy to help...love his photography...thanks Robb and Elissa for drawing attention to a very worthy cause...
  21. at least Guy is still alive... seriously I feel for anyone who could only plan a trip in the coming weeks and will miss out...as posted before, I have never quite recovered from my one and only trip to Dollywood in Dec '14 when the temps were so low that not a single coaster opened...not a one...I had to simply admire then all day long...and the pretty lights...and wonder, what if...?! I rest easy knowing that Guy will get in his rides long before many of us will ever make it there...
  22. This TR has made my long dreary SoCal day at work better...I'm sorry that I did not meet you at all during WCB because I love anyone with humor of this nature...I can only imagine the wit soon to be directed at SFMM...
  23. I glance through it to see if something appears that I haven't seen on the site...especially if I have not had a chance to hit the site in a number of days...
  24. Thanks for the pics...Oktoberfest is still one of the greatest adventures I've experienced...I was lucky enough to hit Munich 3 years in a row in my younger days for work (I mean Beer...)...and the rides after beer...still love to see the photos of the current version...one day I shall return.!
  25. Great pics Nate! My son and I were in front of you in line for Superman and next to you a lunch at KBF. You and your Brother are great kids and your parents should be happy about your love of all things TPR, and also slightly worried, ha! Meeting Robb and Elissa is a bucket item list for all...a week long trip somewhere very cool with TPR is on my bucket list someday so I really hope those return in the future!! Now you need to nag and bother Robb endlessly for a NorCal Bash next year when Roar is complete!! I give you that mission...
