  1. I'm close to 100 rides on X2 and I got my very best ride EVER on Sat night...inside seat, 2nd row...it was almost like I was on another coaster...the sky was brilliant as was the audio...that said, my son had the outside seat and described it as almost his worst ride ever...
  2. I echo what everyone has said already...a great weekend at both parks...I love how we can beat each other up on these Forums and then have such a tremendous time together sharing a passion for all things weird and TPR related as a collective group...it was such a friendly and diverse group of folks I encountered each day along with my son...ERT was tremendous...had such a great chat, albeit brief, with the German couple here for their honeymoon on Sat night in line for SM...you are wonderful people and I hope you enjoy your week here in the States...great discussions over Dinner and ERT last night at KBF with others...thank you Robb and Elissa!
  3. I'm not having any recollection of bad lines in 2013 either...since we live here and have Passes, we are going to hit the Water Park on Saturday afternoon...I think this is the first time its still been open for WCB...the ERT should be more than enough...but I understand the angst for those who are coming from far away...I would head for Apocalypse around 10:20ish as that is not on ERT and will no doubt only be running one train...you should be able to get in a few rides before the general public hit the back of the park...the Gold Pass members are going to all be going to Yolo, Tatsu, and TC at that time...you could substitute Superman for Apocalypse as well...just my suggestion...pretty fired up for the weekend...and these are our home parks...
  4. So I'm another confused patron...I have a Gold Pass with Parking that is good through 2015...do I just buy a brand new regular pass with this Sale that is then upgraded to exactly what I have now?? So in essence I'm not getting the remainder of 2015 free because I already have a Gold Pass but I'm getting 2016 cheaper??
  5. Against my better judgement, hit the park this AM for one last ride on GR before it closes so that I can remember how bad it was once someday its great again...30+ minute wait just moments after park opening...by the time I boarded the wait was easily an hour + and growing...the horribly slow ride ops around one train dispatch did not help. The ride itself needs no further elaboration than the previous pages...jackhammering and pain...thankfully I had positioned myself knowing what was coming and where to compensate but I really feel for folks who have never ridden this thing and have no idea...there were not many smiles around me afterwards...I love the layout and hope that they can recreate the greatness this coaster had when it opened. The good news is that the rest of the park was empty and I got in a ride on SB, Monte, and 2 on Xcelerator in less than 30 mins and was gone... Cant wait for WCB!
  6. Wait we are hardly Old Geezers...I was 9 in '76 and cannot even recall how many x I rode Revolution...this is fantastic news...now I need a new Q&A ? I really, really hope the trims are removed as well...between this, Ghostrider, and the Joker, I can only hope there is some magical TPR CA trip in 2016!!
  7. In the rant of complaining you included 'hot'? Because no East coast or Midwest parks are hotter than hell with 95% humidity a majority of their operating schedule each Summer?...while most of us on the West coast have a love/hate relationship with SFMM from one time or another, the park is exactly what it advertises...thrills...please stop going or complaining herein for the lack of flats, theming, or ambiance as that is not going to change...if someone is looking for a day of those features in a park, we have other choices in SoCal...its not a one park area...just like Orlando is not...I enjoy TRs and insightful posts on Ride Ops and service issues experienced or witnessed at the park...these are legitimate beefs and complaints of most...I'd love for them to address those issues...but there is a reason (I think) that Robb and TPR keep doing a WCB...people like SFMM for the thrills and rides...period...end of my own rant....
  8. I'm glad that you had a great time but the TR seriously made my head hurt...spacing...and some CAPs occasionally please! 1st time ever at SFMM and not even tempted for a ride on Yolo or TC??!! I know the latter is not on Flash Pass but come on... Inside seat for X2... I really hope you make it back...you missed out on the best coaster on the West Coast...
  9. Now I'm motivated to get to this park...what a great collection of flats...had no idea they also had a water park...its been added to the list...sadly I seem to only be in SLC in the Winter months...well not sadly, they do have an awesome Winter resort selection... Get well Robb...hate to see you on the DL for WCB...
  10. Just purchased...feel lucky being a SoCal resident to avoid some of the costs the rest of you are incurring for this event...but its worth the $$$...I'm currently training for a Marathon in early October and will have to do a 20 mile run that Friday prior to WCB...I might need a wheel chair at SFMM the next day!!! Looking forward to meeting more TPR members each day...Having been on TC quite a few times now, you are in for a treat...!
  11. Storage for Bags...are you reading this SFMM?? What a concept... Looks like a great ride and definitely themed to the full extent...I'm surprised there are not more of these in the States...
  12. Great TR and unique photo shots from around the park...this one is on my list now that Fury has been added...
  13. TC at SFMM...worth the wait for an RMC on the West Coast...
  14. those food pics...while eating a work café salad...knives I tell you!! Love the photos and reviews...
  15. ^ I know that a collection of radio stations in SoCal have the park tomorrow night from 9-1...not sure how their give away works but there is chance those folks will be in the park earlier in the day and its the end of the year for schools out here and all those associated trips...I'd expect large crowds with lots of kids!
  16. Do we need another Q&A at WCB for me to once again raise the 'When will you restore Revolution to its original state...' question or will the upcoming anniversary be enough? I would think they have now seen what a monster restoration and change can do for attendance and PR...imagine an original Revolution train and layout w/o trims would do for the die hards and fans... Its been at least a year and possibly longer now that the dusty and weather beaten sign at the entrance to Apocolypse has stated that a one train operation is due to refurbishment for future enjoyment or something along those lines...more like a permanent state at this point...where is the 2nd train?? My son and I met the young girl marathoning TC last Friday during the Gold Pass preview...she was quite a talker in line...lots of ?s on my KBF WCB T-shirt...and then always seemed at least 2-3 trains ahead of us...
  17. i'm interested in the impact this will have on other lines that are the usual long waits...X2 and Tatsu...this is the first ride in a long, long time that I would actually wait in a long line to ride again and again...also interested in whether they are running 3 trains today...yeah, everyone I know is suddenly interested in SFMM again and a trip this Summer....maybe I'll tell them about Bring a Friend days...
  18. Just returned from a few hours at SFMM and had a great time...I'm not sure I get the attitude and entitlement that some folks displayed...the ride opened late...but it opened...and you did not have to share the queue with the general public...and the wait was 20 mins max at the longest...and they agreed to leave it open indefinitely for Gold Pass Members...and you got 2 hours of a pretty much empty park... As for the ride...wow...that is it...its my first RMC so I have no comparison...now I want to ride them all...its for certain a winner...loved the front, loved the back...our first 4 rides all raced at least one circuit...they were trying hard to get at least one side racing...I agree with all that has been said as far as that is going to be hard to achieve...not sure why today they weren't trying 3 trains today...that makes me believe they are not going to try 3 until the 4th arrives...if then...in hindsight, it seems like a block somewhere before the 2nd lift could at least ensure racing for one circuit for each train...if you added the 3rd train then it should assure it each time... Again, its an amazing ride nonetheless, but even better when racing...its such a distraction and rush at the same time... One final rant, I've never seen so many cell phones out on a coaster with people filming and taking pics...I'm sure they are all over the Internet by now...but this is going to lead to something bad in the future I have no doubt.
  19. Someone already said it a few days ago, but I too often have a love/hate relationship with this Thread...that said, I'll be there tomorrow with my son and hoping for the best and am eagerly anticipating my first rides on this coaster we've been waiting for...hope to meet any of you out there, I'll sport some TPR wear to always draw attention to myself...
  20. You all are driving me crazy while working this week so definitely heading on Friday...I can wait no longer...Friday night SoCal Holiday traffic afterwards...ugh...but I figure I'll be flying high after hopefully multiple rides...and it has to be better than Sunday...my other alternative...
  21. Great pics and report...been too long since I've had a KI visit...am I the only one who misses the pond/water that surrounded the Beast station and beginning?? Out of curiosity, what is the plan for where the old KI Inn was located?? Seems like the perfect locale for a great resort hotel option.
  22. I thought this was covered but I cannot find it now, if I purchase a Gold Pass for my son this week, will it be good on Friday Preview day?? Can he enter the park with the print out and go and get the actual card at any point during the day (like at KBF)? Sorry for the mundane ?'s...
  23. Trying to plan a visit this weekend...and brave the crowds for this experience...anyone think there is a chance this could soft open on Friday??
  24. Just returned from a quick jaunt to the park to check out the ride for myself and see first hand what is in store for the general public and garner some reactions and thoughts. (Note: I braved Middle School Band and Choir day for this review) I could easily insert a Robb Alvey rant here...but instead I will thank those who set my expectations so low that I had a wonderful time...for years and years and years we have collectively complained about this empty building and general lack of attention to this area of the park. Now in 2 years, KBF has revamped the entire Boardwalk and added a new dark ride that I dare say the general public, and definitely kids, are going to love. First of all, the building looks great, the queue has been redone very nicely and will feature some great A/C in the hot Summer months during the inside portion. I will say that the Blue Wave-like covering outside is going to reflect some nasty sun and heat in the Summer and it was quite warm even today. Ride Ops today were doing a great job ensuring 4 passengers in each line and going far down the queue to find single passengers (Yes, a Single Rider line would help). I saw no snafus with loading or the vehicles in the time I spent in the area. The ride itself was just a lot of fun...it was not an Oscar worthy film with fine acting and a great script...it was fun...the screens were 1,000x better than I expected...I thought they did an outstanding job with the entry and dive and set up...do the screens flow from one to another in a smooth transition and progression? No...does it matter...No...Yes, it would have been great to have a drop or some other surprise feature as part of the ride but it certainly doesn't detract from the experience. The projectors...seriously? I mean really?? You have to knowingly turn your head and look up and away from the very screens you are supposed to be watching to see them...the first ones are the most noticeable if you are looking for them and could be disguised in some fashion going forward but after that you would have to really want to be looking for them to notice. I'm not bashing other reviewers here, but if I compare this ride to many other I have been on, even in Disney parks, there are always features and lighting and effects that are visible. I did not hear one person in the general public coming off the ride mention the projectors. The ride seemed much longer than I was expecting...the 'Freeze Guns' seemed to be working fine...all the scores in our vehicle matched at the end as did the pictures...kids loved seeing their pictures up on the screen. The screens were very clear and had so many targets and things to take in... I really enjoyed the experience...I'm not a Video Gamer or Shooting Game expert, I'm just a Theme Park Geek...I would ride this time and again and look forward to ERT during WCB in September. Is this the biggest opening on the West Coast or in a Theme Park this summer? No...but it will draw people to the park and it certainly is an overall better package to market for Summer than a Hat in a Box trick. I saw merchandise all over the park that people were buying and wearing; especially the Kraken hats...so I think KBF will do just fine with this new ride.
  25. Outstanding TR that definitely puts a much better perspective and light on the attraction. It seems way better done than some have reflected upon and I look forward to checking it out later today. I'll take the quirkiness over yet another Super Hero themed ride any day.
