  1. ^ if they aren't a California resident, then she shouldn't try to go, unless Universal has announced that out of State are welcome to visit. if you're asking for if she can get around it? well, I dunno if anyone is going to officially tell you to violate park policy. official web site specifically notes it's still for California residents only, and that reservations must be made: https://www.universalstudioshollywood.com/web/en/us/plan-your-visit/park-reopening
  2. um. . . this tiny little thing you *might* have heard about happened in 2020 called Covid-19 ? and meant parks didn't have staff back to train up / fill positions until restrictions were lifted or relaxed. I'm guessing that has a LOT to do with why parks aren't operating the same as they have in past seasons (for both hours and/or days open)
  3. ^ hey . . . Six Flags has been beating CF all year thus far with operations during Covid. maybe they decided to try being more like Six Flags?
  4. ^ and they literally just updated the "blog" - and tweeted it moments ago. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2021/april/welcoming-you-back-in-2021---safely very similar to what Bill has listed above, tho there's an extra bullet point on the blog version they just tweeted out:
  5. agreed. .whatever the President notes in Statement today, I suspect will be Federal Guidance, and most theme parks will fall in line with those recommendations (most, not all, because some States are going to raise a stink regardless of what the new guidelines may be - even if President Biden were to say today: Masks no longer required ? Some States would complain it's too soon.. . so I'm not pointing my comment that "States will raise a stink regardless" only at States run by a certain party). but ultimately, they will be guidelines, and the Chains will do what they want to do. that said? I"m at Kings Island for Coasterstock in July, and will be wearing my masks the whole time around other people (except when eating with those who have also been vaccinated already). it's the Patriotic thing to do: to care about your fellow Americans regardless if they care about themselves.
  6. agreed on all 3. as I said for GvK - great special effects and spectacular fights, but a huge fail with the human characters. at least 1 too many "Magic kid that can talk to Kaiju" and 3 too many "comedy relief" characters. . .but damn those fights were amazing. the dialog and the over reliance on CGI were my biggest issues with MK - tho the few practical effects used, were quite good. I've not played the game in over a decade, but I too thought it odd the tournament is not actually in the film.
  7. ^ Congrats @Dan the Coaster Man great job. . it continues to be a struggle, and keep working on it
  8. ^ that looks like the base of a Batman statue going in. similar to ones they've installed at SFFT (that now has Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman statues close to the entrances to "their" rides).
  9. I'm late getting back to this to update my 1st visit to ZDT (!). . . I'll try to get it up in the next few days. but the positive coming out of my procrastination? the Admins from the TSU group - many of whom are photographers - have been uploading their pics over the past two weeks, so I have some pics taken of me I can use (they gave permission) here's just a tease, and I'll have my ZDT morning up soon. . . back right:
  10. I mentally put qualifiers around it. . .Canobie meant "best Brisket in a Theme Park" in my head tho I still think Kickin Chicken is way better. .hehe
  11. this made news here in Texas even. hopefully can get back under control quickly. . but I was sad to read, since I was still hoping to perhaps make it to Japan in 2021. but thinking now, it's likely looking like 2022
  12. the Brisket that was part of our catered meal the other week supposedly came from there (as did the chicken and the cobbler). . the brisket was. . . . um. . .not good. Neither was the chicken (which was downright nasty). the cobbler was good tho.
  13. call them today, and ask. Customer service at SFFT in particular is great - but pretty sure this must be done while you're IN the park, and presenting your ticket info from that day.
  14. glad you had such a great visit. yeah. . things break down a lot because despite it being Fiesta Texas (a spectacular park)? at the end of the day it's a Six Flags. (but because it's Fiesta, they get the rides back up fast fast fast). and Poltergeist DOES get faster as it goes, because the two Six Flags versions (at Fiesta & at Six Flags America) don't have the Mid Course Brake Run that the Kings Island/Kings Dominion versions have on Flight of Fear. if you get a chance to go back tomorrow. . the best food in the park is at Kickin Chicken (across from Roadrunner Express) and Macho Nacho (across from Superman). tho they did just add some german dishes to the Sangerfest Halle foodcourt that I've been told are really good (haven't tried them yet).
  15. ^ except it brings the thread off topic. (same reason I just ignore the stupid comments like that on the TPR facebook group)
  16. there's no point, John just ignore, and we'll keep doing what we need to do to protect others (even if we don't know them personally).
  17. Hope you got to go ! Seeing reports from friends who went to the park and they said after the rains, everything opened back up and there were almost no lines. so really hope you got out today!
  18. I would put $ on it that's not rain. all of those run in the rain (and WW HAULS when the track is wet). THAT is lightning in the area. 100%
  19. oh, and WW back seat is way more intense. Iron Rattler is for sure a back car ride. Goliath & Superman are both B&M, so back row, left side of train is most intense.
  20. the deciding factors in what's up or down at SFFT is not rain. I often visit on days when rain is forecast. The deciding factor is wind (will shut down: Poltergeist, Goliath, Iron Rattler - as those all valley), and lightning in the area (will shut down ALL major rides). your best bet is going to be Sunday morning at open - park tends to be very slow on Sunday mornings until ~2pm (Texan's love their Church). when you say "Batman" to be clear, are you talking Batman cloned B&M (at SFFT it's called Goliath, and is among the snappier versions of it) or "Batman" S&S spinner - the one at SFFT is the first one ever built and runs way different than the one at SFOT. (more intense and more flips. . at SFOT, it's called Joker by the way). your first ever visit to the park? and limited time? yes, I'd get flash pass, but you'll need to splurge for Platinum to allow you to book on either Joker pendulum, Wonder Woman, or Daredevil Dive. Iron Rattler is running 1 train operations. So if you don't go there 1st - and are there at park open (again, I'd suggest Sunday). . don't even have that on your list or you will hit none of your other rides - that line will be hours long. if you hit Iron Rattler first? DDD is right next door, and that one too, is best to hit early, before line forms. Typically, I'd go to WW at rope drop, as can get in several rides before main crowd gets back to that corner of the park. But with IR with 1 train operations? go there first, if you can be at park for rope drop (the park gates open ~1 hour before rope drop, so you can get in before official opening time). Superman is a people eater. you'll have no issue on that. Or on Goliath (Batman B&M clone) if you hit that later in the day (starts out busy since at front of park). Wonder Woman, Joker, DDD, Poltergeist are all very low capacity (and the restraints on Poltergeist make loading take forever, so even a short line on that can take a while - tho Flash pass puts you directly into the station bypassing any line). Scream has 3 towers, but they recently have only been running 2 - which both have been running the "combo" program: Slow lift to the top, drop, bounce, drop. Have fun. . and don't miss out on Pirates, on the boardwalk, which never has a line. . a fun, dark shooter ride.
  21. so what's the point of it being an "indoor park" when many of the slides seem to go outside for a portion. if it rains, do they close off those slides?
  22. ^ I also suspect they are taking advantage of Schitterbahn not opening for season until May. . so perhaps those prices will drop a bit once they have the head to head competition. (as noted tho, right now, with taxes, Schlitterbahn on opening weekend is $42 for entry) but $150 for a waterpark is insane.
  23. $115 to visit the indoor waterpark? the recently opened Kalahari in RoundRock Texas - billed as America's largest indoor waterpark wants THIS much: and $40 more if you want to include a stop at Tom Foolery's (their version of Dave & Busters, basically) to which I say: oh, and remember, regardless of the freak Feb. Ice/snowpocalypse? it's TEXAS. .and Schlitterbahn is less than an hour away, for *literally* 1/4th of the price:
