^ yeah. must have been a heart attack from what I read. Feel really sad for her family, but glad the park didn't shutter the ride, since the statement from the park was that it was operating as intended. -

but Dolly's selling the park to her partners and wants nothing to do it anymore. the dippin dots guy told a facilities/cleaning guy, who told the clerk at the stand selling the airbrushed t-shirts - and someone overheard while walking by on the way to buy Cinnamon Bread. so this CAN'T be true !!! -

great report. one day, I will get to Magic Mountain. it's not at the top of my remaining bucket list. .but it's in the top 10 remaining that I still have yet to experience. -
know how I kept saying that Park President Jeffrey Siebert has been teasing "something" coming to Poltergeist and I was saying how I have a feeling that it might be an enclosed "haunt" portion of the queue. . since they never use those back 6-8 switchbacks? well. . Mr. Siebert just posted THIS pic on socials. they certainly made room for . . . something. . by removing the 6-8 switchbacks in this portion of the queue!

Just about 5 weeks until my 1st ever visit, and get to knock this bucket list park/coaster (the Beast) off my ever shorter list. it's gonna be interesting that my 1st time is for Coasterstock, so there will be a lot of ERT, and I'll have to make decisions on what activities during the event to "miss" so I can experience more of the park. but I *did* just go ahead and purchase FL+ for the Saturday ($116 online). . . for Friday? will just stick to CoasterStock schedule (once released). . but I have a feeling that Sat will be PACKED, and I'm gonna wanna have that FL+ to ride a few things during the day, that are outside of the ERT sessions. (or, hell, just be able to focus on Non-FL+ rides during ERT, since I'll have the wristband for the day). can't wait! added bonus is get to hang out with TeacherKim and her son,Joel. . both very cool people. -
BGW/KD, with a few days at Smithsonian Museums in Washington was one of the best 6 day trips we've ever taken. lots of fun, BGW is GORGEOUS, and we loved the culture aspects in both Colonial Williamsburg, and in DC (you pass right by KD on the way to DC from BGW. .so we stopped in for a full day at KD before continuing on to Washington to check into our hotel - I highly recommend the Courtyard Marriott at Foggy Bottom. . it's right off the mall and close to university, so very safe "walking" area, and prices were incredibly reasonable). but I'm surprised nobody responded with suggestion for HersheyPark/Knoebels trip. Knoebels really is a PERFECT family park, with an incredible mix of fantastic coasters, flats, a swimming area, a mini golf course, walk thru museums (and live eagles), great (and inexpensive) food, Fascination, and best of all - free entry and free parking. the place really is magical.

a response I posted earlier to someone complaining about "poor ride maintenance" at the park: NOTHING to do with poor maintenance. SFFT has an excellent maintenance staff. This particular coaster tends to valley in high wind - which is exactly what happened here. now, the question is - did the ride operators not notice the wind-sensors warning them the winds were too high for the coaster to operate? Or was the sensor faulty and didn't warn? (and by the way, Iron Ratter *also* tends to valley in high wind, so that's why that ride also shuts down if wind gusts)

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

are you going alone? you MUST have a partner to ride Thunderbolt - they will not allow single riders. in these Covid times, not sure how they are handling "pair ups". . so just giving a heads up. Jackrabbit is my favorite coaster there. . but I will pass along long-time-Kennywood advice: if you care about Exterminator? head there first. the line WILL get long, and won't ever get any shorter, so knock that out 1st. -

you'll do a lot of walking. . will be easier than you think to burn calories -
the whole ride? no way..it stands out in the skyline, and the two SF versions of this coaster are both outdoors. BUT, I do think it's a strong possibility, we can see an enclosed portion of the queue - it's also something they can work on without impacting the ride (since noted, the back 6-8 switchbacks are NEVER full of people, so construction there wouldn't shut down the ride )

yeah.. every large wheel in Japan is continuous motion. I loved my ride on Colossus. . but I really do think almost every wheel I rode in Japan was bigger.. so I'd think Colossus is no longer top 5 - but very likely still in top 10 (he says without bothering to google to check). .LOL -
Park President Jeffrey Siebert has been teasing all week that *something* is about to happen over at Poltergeist. posts online about "the evil will soon be unleashed" now, I don't think the coaster is actually going to be going ANYWHERE (after all, there are only 5 of this type of coaster in the World - with 4 of them being in the USA, and only 2 of them being at a Six Flags). . but I *do* think we're about to see an update to the queue line. the past 3 rides that SFFT has installed all have really upped the game on the queue: Pirates of the Deep Sea (amazing themed queue including animatronic & indoor waterfall), Joker pendulum (amazing themed funhouse queue), and Daredevil Dive air-race (impressive themed queue, including smoke & fire effects). so although some have been guessing that the "rotting plantation" setting might be getting adjusted, I don't think that's going anywhere. (this IS Texas after all, so they aren't gonna change such a great coaster theme just because some might view it as controversial). but the themeing has always just been the station/launch building itself. . no where else in the line. I've not seen any line for Polty longer than 2 switchbacks in over a decade - even on busy days (granted, the switchbacks are loooooong.. so can fit a lot of people, so two switchbacks is still ~1:20 hour wait). so I think we're either going to see, at least 1, or possibly all 3 of these: -- The back 6-8 switchback rows (never seen filled) will be enclosed, and there's gonna be a "haunt" of some kind installed in the queue. (very possible, would also provide some shade/a/c in Texas heat) -- Scare actors added to the queue at some point (possible. . much more possible if they build the haunt above) -- the grassy area near the queue (that used to be the turnaround from the cars, which were removed for S&S freespin many years ago), turned into a haunted graveyard, a la the Disney Haunted mansion queue. (this one is by far the most likely to happen). I'll report back once Jeffrey spills the actual beans on what the change to Poltergeist is.

have they reopened Noah's Ark yet? as long as that's still part of the Kennywood history, I'd plan for a stop there (that and Jackrabbit) . .but yeah, the other classic ride removals sucks a lot of the charm out of the park for me. -

if you've never been to Knoebels before, I'd strongly suggest you plan for more than just a partial day there. the place really is pretty incredible, and you're going to want multiple rides on both Phoenix and Twister. (and flats you may think you have no interest in? run incredible programs at Knoebels and are worth riding. That's not even mentioning the food, playing a game (or several dozen) of Fascination, or wandering thru the mining museum). if you do end up trying to do Dorney & Knobels on the same day, do Knoebels 1st. . so that way when you decide you want to stay longer, you can just blow off Dorney -

very very few would say the reason to stay at Breakers is to get the early access. but what most all of us WILL say is stay at Breakers for the Convenience - you can walk back to the room to take a break, drop stuff off at the room, get food from the fridge. the early entry is just an added plus, but certainly not the main reason to stay there. hell. . the times I've stayed at Breakers, I've done FL+ on top of it anyways. -
