  1. nope. we were JUST there (C2E2 not even two weeks ago). and it wasn't open yet. . but HELL no. NOT even for $5 (which is why thy priced it so cheap, to entice people to try it). tho I did do the Skydeck at the top of the Sears (Willis) Tower (higher at 103 floors up):
  2. It does look rather smooth. . but I'm one of those folks who just don't "get" skyloops. They just don't do anything for me. . . heck, I'd rather just ride a SooperLoops. but it looks smooth.
  3. cool to see the pics, and the wheel in action. so the "Cromwell" appears to be what used to be "Bill's Gamblin Hall" I guess it's still owned by Harrah's/Ceasar's entertainment? hehe . although the "editor" in me, simply MUST point out that the Strip is not "Downtown" So the Cromwell is actually a new Casino on the Strip. Downtown is Freemont Street -- hope you got to go there to check it out, the lightshow is amazing.
  4. Why did the Chicken cross the track? to escape the pain of a Chinese Knock off Wild Mouse! all I can add is. . . OUCH!
  5. we've never had trouble at either DL or WDW just walking in without a reservation (even at places like Blue Bayou, or Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom) - the only time we even had a wait, was once at Sci-Fi Diner, and we waited about 20 minutes. we don't like to make reservations, because we tend to just eat when hungry. but it always seems to work in our favor that it's just the two of us, and it seems it's easy to find a table for Two, when most of those waiting to be seated are families or groups larger than 2
  6. my goodness.. y'all are SO, SO young. can't POSSIBLY do 10. . so I made it 15. I tried to keep it to just 1 song per band. . otherwise I could have a full list of Beatles, Elton John, the Who, the Stones, etc. 15) "Supersonic" -- Oasis 14) "Lucky Man" -- the Verve 13) "Nothing Compares 2U" -- Sinead O'Conner (Prince cover) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUiTQvT0W_0 12) "Lucky Man" -- Emerson Lake and Palmer *(same name as the Verve song, but completely different song) 11) "Annie's Song" -- John Denver 10) "We Will Rock You" -- Queen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMLiqEqMQyQ 9) "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" -- Smashing Pumpkins 8) "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" -- Gordon Lightfoot and I'm gonna "cheat" here and say this is a TIE, since the other GL song I would put in my top10 is "Sundown" & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8rR7E6NfY4 7) "Runnin With the Devil" -- Van Halen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcvtnEvclGs 6) "Rocket Man" -- Elton John 5) "Rock and Roll all Night" -- KISS 4) "Wild Horses" -- the Rolling Stones (tho I could have gone with "Sympathy for the Devil". . coin flip. 3) "Behind Blue Eyes" -- the Who http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfuWXRZe9yA 2) "Hey Jude" -- the Beatles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDdI7GhZSQA 1) "Heroes" -- David Bowie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBuwC4VJi50 I'm pretty shocked at who I left off (Zeppelin, Cream, Nirvana). . but I did keep dance/industrial off the list (that would be a separate top 10) but I will add one bonus song (It really does belong in my top 5. . .but just couldn't fit it in) "Love Will Tear Us Apart" -- Swans (Joy Division cover) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] just beautiful.
  7. Haven't been this season at all. . but as of last time I went? nope.
  8. if you read thru this thread, you'll note that (in my opinion) Fiesta is notorious for running only one train on busy days (to up the Fast Pass sales, I'd guess). the good thing is that Fiesta does have some really fun flats, and for the most part, the coaster lines move fast (tho on a busy day, I've seen waits on Pandemonium and Scooby Doo reach well over 2 hours).
  9. ^^ ooo.. I hope it's a FUN part
  10. Yeah, Goliath at opening never has much of a line, because a lot of folks miss the signage, and don't realize that the entrance to the coaster is just off the main gate! other than skipping Boomerang (why ride that!). that's a workable plan. but what I'd do: Ride Goliath, then head around the park counter clockwise. Tho I'd do Iron Rattler, before Road Runner (they are right next to each other, and most folks get in line for Roadrunner first, because they don't realize the Rattler line entrance is literally like 50 feet further)
  11. Yep (and in addition to the Starbucks thing. . ech. . coffee! I can not STAND Celine Dion, and can take or leave Cher. . . so I guess I should have a few dozen kids by multiple women by now! tho I love me some Bette Midler.. . .m'kay?)
  12. ' tho likely already answered for you, two things to point out: 1) Gender Identity is not the same thing as Sexual Orientation. 2) Sexual orientation has nothing to do with certian traits. (think Metrosexual. . . a guy who likes to get manicures, and dress very well, and may wear makeup, but identifes as a completely straight male). so two similar things, but neither of which means that you can "tell" by looking. the short answer? No, you CAN'T tell. Not always. but sometimes you can. The characteristics that tend to go with what some have noticed as "gay traits" (the siballant "S" (ie: the lisp), the love of Show Tunes, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, etc). . . well, they have become sterotypes for a reason: Stereotypes typically have SOME basis in reality. which is why a Stereotype is used as a shorthand for a character/description. but as noted, no, you CAN'T always tell.
  13. ok.. keep in mind that I've not read the books, so I'm just speculating here. but I think it was Lady Olyanna. looking around online, it DOES appear that it's her and the fool, working together. watch the necklace he gave Sansa, when Lady Olyanna comes and talks to her. . . after Lady Olyannna says "how terrible to kill someone at a Wedding!". . she admires the necklace. And in the very next shot of Sansa, one of the gems is now missing. When Tyrion goes to get the cup, it's sitting in front of Lady Olyanna. . who VERY carefully watches the cup as Jeoffrey takes a sip. and then the fool, quickly walks up to Sansa and tells her to come with him if she wants to live (so he knows what's about to happen).
  14. cool. . .can't wait to see all your awesome pics! (when was this trip taken? How recently?)
  15. aw. . .c'mon people! . . how can you let the "bag-o-crap" thread go quiet???
  16. ^^ Thanks Robb! I'm only really worried about Hershey, as although that isn't the park I'm most excited about (that would be Knoebel's -- but we're spending almost 2 full days there), we only really will have one day + possibly evening before at the park. Heh, I know Knoebel's doesn't offer "Fast Pass". . unfortunately, we hit it on a Saturday, and they don't even offer wristbands. So expecting to buy a LOT of tickets
  17. last time we went (in May), we went on a Wednesday, and there were literally ~250 people in the entire park. seriously. the longest wait for anything was for chicken dinner at Mrs. Knott's restaurant. I did multiple rides on almost everything as a walk on (including Xcellerator). Tho we only did Ghost Rider once (once was enough)
  18. noted, although I want to ride everything. HE will only go on 4 of the 9. so if it's really busy, he's not going to want to stand in a 2 hour line with me (tho really, what ELSE would we do? we're there for the day)
  19. Noted on Dorney, thanks. yeah, we're going to drive up in the morning, and drive back to Philly that night (instead of staying in Allentown, we decided on an extra day in Philly). And since most of the Dorney stuff is what he'll ride, we can just stand in lines together very good info for Hershey too. . . we'll have to see how crowded it is on the day we show up, I suppose and make the call there. as i really do want to ride everything (assuming my weight/size won't be a restriction). . so if crowded, I might need to Fast Pass for me, just so I don't miss something.
  20. Hey, y'all. . . just looking for your 2cents We're going on a trip to Penn in June to hit up: Kennywood, Hershypark, Knoebel's, and Dorney. my Partner tends not to go on "big" rides, so hypercoasters, or anything with no enclosed cars (suspended with hanging feet, flying, 4th dimention, etc) are out for him. Tho we both love amusement parks. we're expecting to have a blast at Kennywood (looks like he'll ride everything but Phantom's Revenge), and looking at Dorney's "fast pass". . of the 10 rides listed, he will ride all but 1 of the ones that I want to go on too. So no problem at these parks, as we'll either buy them for both of us, or enjoy standing in line together. but what does one do at Hershey Park? he will only go on 4 of the 9 coasters on their "Fast Track" program. so, in your opinion: -- is it worth it to buy us both fast track, even tho he won't go on more than 1/2 of the coasters? -- is it worth it for me to buy a Fast Track for ME at Hershey Park? Since I'll end up having to stand in line with him for the ones that he'll want to ride? -- or, since we'll be there on a Thursday (6/12. .which I THINK is before the East Coast schools are out), it won't be that crowded so just blow off fast track and just wait in line (he can wait with me on things he won't ride, and then just step thru). what would Y'all Do?
  21. everything is now locked in for our trip, so not until June. but in this order: Kennywood HershyPark Knoebel's Dorney Park
  22. too funny. it turns out that by renting the car in Pittsburgh, and returning it in Philly (instead of the other way around?). over $300 cheaper! Yes, WITH the extra day added. just sillyness. but all booked. unfortunately, our incoming flight doesn't get us into Pittsburgh until almost 8pm (long layover between flights), so we'll have to blow off the 1st evening at Kennywood, but eh. . everyone says 1 day is really enough, so we'll just start bright and early the next day.
  23. heh. . keep in mind, we're OLD so yeah. . a 5 hour drive after a flight? a bit much. that's why you'll note my itinerary has every "check out of hotel" the day after we've spent full day in the park, and I always planned for an afternoon nap (for him) once we check in somewhere. not only is he of the age that he's gonna get park discounts (hehe), but note that he's recovering from stage 4 cancer. . so he tends to tire out pretty easy still. . . so yeah, the increased cost, but avoiding a 5 hour drive on the same day we fly? TOTALLY worth it. at least I'm thinking so. (and he agreed, which is why I went with option 3).
  24. cool, thanks! We should be hitting Kennywood the evening of 6/9 and all day 6/10 (so Monday/Tuesday). hopefully won't be busy at all!
  25. yep. . after talking it over this evening, this is the direction we're sending to our travel agent (he's booking Plane tix and car for us, and will help with Hotel reservations once we lock in the Flight/Car rental) not sure how much the extra day is gonna cost us (and it kills me to over pay that much for one-way car rental). .but it IS a 10th anniversary vacation, so we're gonna splurge and do what sounds like the fun thing Mon. 6/9 -- flying out on 6/9, from Austin to Pittsburgh. (Early-Mid morning flight if possible . 8-10am-ish?) Rent car at Pittsburgh airport and keeping it for the trip. Check into Pittsburgh hotel for two nights (6/9 & 6/10). (we’ll go to Kennywood park on evening of 6/9 and go back for full day on 6/10). Wed. 6/11 – Check out of Pittsburgh Hotel, and drive to Hershey Penn. Check into Hotel in Hershey (on Hersheypark property?) for two nights (6/11 & 6/12) (we’ll sightsee in Hershey on afternoon of 6/11, and go to Hersheypark that evening, since I’ll buy tix for 6/12, and we get in prior evening a few hours free if we have tix for next day. Full day 6/12 at Hersheypark). Fri. 6/13 – Check out of Hershey Hotel, and drive to Elysburg area. Check into Hotel for 2 nights (6/13 & 6/14) (need to find what’s close to Knoebel’s) (we’ll rest at hotel, and go to Knoebel’s for evening on 6/13, since free admission, and the park is known for great food. Then go back for full day on 6/14). Sun. 6/15 – Check out of Elysburg area hotel, and drive to Philadelphia. Check into Hotel for 3 nights (6/15, 6/16, & 6/17). (we’ll relax on 6/15 and do some sightseeing in Philly. 6/16, we’ll drive the hour to Allentown and spend the day at Dorney Park. 6/17, we’ll spend sightseeing in Philly (Liberty Bell, Rocky Steps, etc. . ). Wed. 6/18 – check out of Philly Hotel. Return Car to Philly Airport. Flight back 6/18 from Philadelphia to Austin (Late Morning-early afternoon flight if possible)
