Where Are You Going in 2017?
bert425 replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
a couple of bucket list things: Cedar Point (for sure) (with Nrthwnd. . yay! I get to meet and spend a week hanging out with Bill) Possibly another park on this trip too. . . we'll have a car, so who knows? and then in July/Sept, Niagara Falls w/ my hubby. (so we'll have to find a theme park to hit while going from there to a weekend in Toronto). that's all planned thus far. . but these are biggies for me. -
I actually knew FIVE songs.. out of a 2 hour + set. but we had *great* seats:
-
headed out tonight to see Alan Parson's Project Live. I only know 4 songs.. gonna be a looooooong night (but it's one of Hubby's bucket list bands, and he got the tix back in Feb). oy.

one has to drink sake with sushi (and trying to lighten his stress level a bit!).

^ on you?

So sorry to hear this Phil. Good news that he's currently off the ventilator and improving. . I really hope things continue in this direction (this time). Sending lots of good vibes and thoughts y'all's way. (and get over the stomach bug soon! likely exacerbated by the stress of the whole situation - not to mention the stress of the week ) but thinking of you both, and hope things will trend positively! hugs, bert

personally, I got about an hour of sleep last night, and have spent most of the morning in tears that simply won't stop coming. and my friends reaching out and saying they are sorry and that they didn't think of any consequences other than voting their conscience, and that they are "here" for me?.. yeah. . too raw right now to deal with that. but all my brothers and sisters (and in between) in this thread.. . i'm thinking of all of us, and doing some praying.

Congratulations. (although, there is no moving anywhere safe and comfortable now, unless you are considering Canada).
-
but it wont be the same for 2 big reasons: 1) they've made Dwight so unlikeable (as they did with the Andrea character on the show), there's simply no way to redeem him. and 2) Darryl. Who doesn't exist in the comic. So brings a WHOLE new storytelling opportunity here.

Nice pic!

Went to the Austin F1 track (Circuit of the Americas) today, for the Vintage Car Racing. it got rained out after 2pm, but still had a great time. . in particular going up to the race tower for a bit and standing high above the track. got some new "favorite" pictures out of it

it's so weird to see folks freaking out. .it was exactly like it was in the comic (no spoilers, but at least the 2nd part of it).

Some biggies over the past few days for me (including Steve Dillon, the co-creator of "Preacher" comic), and Kevin Meaney. but this one hits hard, as I am a huge fan of Pete, and his attitude of "no F's to give" R.I.P. Pete Burns: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Fixed that for you. This. Hershey's Whip sucks hard. It's slow as hell and runs a ridiculously short cycle. we liked it, but we rode Whip at all the Penn parks we hit and liked all of them (Kennywood was our favorite). . and it's right there between the two coasters he's going on anyways -

If I recall, we enjoyed Hershey's Whip (between Wildcat and Racer) -

sounds like it still will, it just won't run in front of that building anymore. it doesn't stop at the "downtown station" anyways. . so really sounds like they just want HP to move the track. (based on that little blub that Boldikus posted) -
Rammstein, eh? I heard about them from a friend just today. Are they any good live? Aside for at Download where it was a it of a dud (still an 8/10 I'd say, but not the usual 10/10) since the speakers got a bit trashed by the rain, they are absolutely on point every other time I've seen them. Amazing light show and pyrotechnics. During their 2012 tour, they opened their set by lowering a massive walkway over the crowd. They aren't a band that skimp out on production value: I saw them open for KMFDM in the early 90's and they were embarrassingly "shocking".. . think GWAR crossed with Impotent Sea Snakes - but with all the prosthetics being genitalia. they sure have come a long way! (the music was great even back then, but the stage show was. . . um.. . . confusing. . LOL).

if you don't mind leaving the park, see if you can take the shuttle to Hershey Lodge - the sit down restaurants in there are all decent to very good (and one (the Bear's Den) is themed to an ice hockey rink!). and the bar by the big fireplace lets you have massive Chocolate Martinis! -
That's great! we have this in San Antonio, that bills itself as "the Worlds First Accessible Family Fun Park" http://www.morganswonderland.com/
